Nessarose's eyes lit up when she caught sight of her. Without a second of hesitation, she grabbed her daddies' hands, dragging them forward.
"Cinderella is here! Daddy, Papa, we have to meet Cinderella!" she cried with her usual dose of enthusiasm. Kurt and Blaine pulled her back, Kurt rolling his eyes and Blaine chuckling lightly.
"Yeah, but I bet the line is two hours long." Kurt grumbled.
"Nah," Blaine examined the small crowd surrounding the princess. "There are only two families. It'll probably be... I don't know... five or so minutes?"
"So we should do it!" Toronto commented, popping in between Kurt and Blaine after being left somewhat behind the group. "I only have eight signatures in my book." He held out seven fingers to his fathers. Nessa opened her mouth to comment on it, but Kurt sent her a warning glare and her mouth snapped shut.
"Fine." Kurt said with a sigh. "It'll make for some good pictures, at least."
"That's the spirit," Blaine smiled, clapping his husband on the shoulder as they approached the line.
The family waited, some of them somewhat less than patiently. Kurt had been bitchy and irritable about lines the whole trip. No matter what the length, he would complain about it. He even let out a whine about a two person wait outside of the restroom. This situation was no different. Kurt would stand, leaning against something whenever possible, with his arms crossed and his face in an irritated pout.
Unfortunately, this line was no different for Kurt. He stood, unfazed even as Blaine commented on how incredibly adorable the little girls all decked out in sparkly princess dresses ahead of them in line wore. The kids were patient and excited, which thrilled Blaine. Every time Blaine saw a screaming toddler, which was very often, he always thanked whoever it was that blessed them with two, relatively sane kids. There had only been one meltdown as of late, which occurred the previous day at Hollywood Studio, when Toronto wasn't quite tall enough to ride the Rock n' Roll Rollercoaster. But even that dash of chaos was short lived with the promise of ice cream.
"Ness, if we got you one of those Rapunzel dresses, would you actually wear it?" Blaine asked when they were only one family away from the front of the line, pointing at the little girl standing next to Cinderella, who wore the cutest little purple dress like the girl from "Tangled". Nessarose responded with an eager nod, which resulted in an elongated sigh and an eye roll from Kurt.
"Honestly, Blaine. Do you know how expensive those are?"
"They'll need something to remember this trip by. And they love to dress up." Blaine said under his breath to Kurt before turning to Toronto. "And you can pick out a costume, too, if you'd like. Maybe Woody, or Buzz..."
"Or Peter Pan!" Toronto said excitedly, lighting up at the idea of getting a costume of his favorite Disney character.
"Sure thing, bud." Blaine smiled, and then they were at the front of the line. "Ness, you want to go talk to her first?"
Nessa didn't give an answer. She just sped ahead to Cinderella, who was kneeling next to the steps of her castle, waiting to greet Nessa with open arms. Nessa was quick to fall into them, clinging to the princess with all the affection she had to offer.
"Why, hello there, Princess! What is your name?" Cinderella asked, separating from Nessa's grip and grabbing her hands.
"Nessarose."
"Princess Nessarose, what a beautiful name!" Cinderella grinned at Nessa, taking her autograph book and Sharpie, uncapping it, and signing her name in extravagant, over-emphasized script. "Where do you hail from, Princess?"
"New York." Nessa smiled shyly.
"Oh, that's such a long journey from here! Your horses must be very tired."
"We didn't take horses!" Nessa giggled. "We flew on a plane!"
"A... a plane? Well, I'm not sure what that is, but I'm glad you made it here to see me."
"Me too!" Nessa said, excitedly, getting over her shyness quickly. "I like your dress. It's very beautiful."
"Why, thank you, Princess!" Cinderella replied, looking pleased. "My fairy godmother made it for me. It's simply lovely. Do you have a fairy godmother?"
"No, I don't..." Nessa looked down, sadly. "But I have a daddy who makes clothes for me."
"Oh, so like a fairy godfather! That's wonderful!" Cinderella stood up, smiling and turning around Nessa's shoulders to where the photographer and Kurt were waiting, cameras at the ready. They snapped a few pictures, Cinderella's left hand resting on Nessa's shoulder and her right waving regally into the camera.
"Have a magical day, Princess!" Cinderella called as Nessa ran back to her waiting family. Kurt and Blaine smiled at her return, and then nudged Toronto towards the princess. Toronto, who wore an expression of confusion and determination, approached her slowly.
"Well, hello there, sweet prince! How are you today?"
"Fine." Toronto looked down shyly, possibly afraid of the beautiful princess kneeling down beside him. Despite Toronto's fear, Cinderella was determined to make light out of the situation and make the little boy smile.
"Oh, that's wonderful!" she chirped, taking Toronto's autograph book and signing it just like she had done with Nessarose's. "Are you enjoying your stay here so far? Having lots of fun?"
"Yeah." Toronto smiled, again not looking Cinderella in the eyes.
"That's great! Having fun is the most important thing, little prince. Remember that." With a dazzling smile, she closed Toronto's autograph book and capped the pen back, and handed the book back to Toronto. She smiled at him, looking into his eyes with a growing smirk. "Have you met any special princesses today?"
Toronto looked surprised for a moment, and then quickly his expression dropped as he muttered a "no".
"Oh?" Cinderella inquired, quirking an eyebrow. "Well, a handsome little prince like yourself deserves a pretty princess, so keep your eyes open."
"I don't want a princess." Toronto stated after a moment of silence.
"Oh." Cinderella paused, curious. "Well, why ever not?"
"I want..." Toronto bit his lip, before looking up at the woman with hopeful eyes. "I want a prince."
Cinderella was speechless. She opened her mouth to speak, snapping it closed shortly thereafter. "I..."
"My daddies told me that princes can love princes, too."Toronto said sweetly, innocently, looking Cinderella full on in the eyes for the first time.
"That's..." Cinderella struggled for words, but ended up nodding, with a gentle smile. "That's right. They sure can."
Toronto grinned. "Thank you, Cinderella. I like your shoes."
Toronto posed for a picture quickly, and then skipped back to where Kurt and Blaine were waiting, a satisfied smile tracing his lips. Cinderella stayed sitting on her steps, a bit awestruck, even as other children ran up to greet her.
"What did Cinderella say to you, Tor? She looks a little..." Kurt trailed, one eyebrow raised curiously. Toronto shrugged it off lightly.
"Oh, nothing. She was just telling me about her castle. She should really stop scrubbing the floors. The soapy water is really damaging the skin on her hands, you can tell." Toronto walked past his family, heading down the path with a little extra spring in his step. "Come on, I wanna go to on the Peter Pan ride again!"
Kurt and Blaine exchanged a glance and a smile before following their son.
