"Of course she is. She's your daughter." Ava grinned, running her thumb over the baby's sleeping cheek.
"She's your daughter, too, Av. Most of it is from you." Kurt tried to be modest, but he saw the baby girl's glowing, porcelain skin and the start of some chestnut curls, beautiful features that definitely belonged to Kurt.
"I wish you guys could have gotten here sooner. You should have seen her eyes. God, Kurt. They're your eyes."
"Well, all baby's eyes are blue to start out... They'll probably change..."
"Kurt, honestly. Why are you refusing to admit that this perfect little girl is your daughter?" Ava laughed.
"It's just all a little surreal right now..." Blaine tightened his grip around Kurt's waist. This was surreal for all three of them. After over a year of complicated processes, they finally created another human life. A real, live baby girl that lived and breathed and was theirs. Well, not necessarily Ava's. While she was determined to remain close to the family, this girl would legally be Blaine and Kurt's daughter. She would be a Hummel-Anderson.
"You never did tell me what you wanted to name her..." Ava whispered. Blaine and Kurt exchanged a knowing look, communicating a thousand words in one gaze.
"Nessarose Elizabeth Hummel-Anderson."
Ava let out a breathy laugh.
"You guys would." Kurt and Blaine smiled at each other, and then back at Ava and their slumbering daughter. "I do love the name, though. Nessarose..."
"Nessa for short." Kurt quipped. "Or Ness. Anything but Nessie."
"Nessie it is, then." Ava smirked.
"Don't you dare, Av."
"That thing came out of my lady parts. I'd like to think I can call it what I want."
"'Thing' and 'it'? Ava, the respect you have for our daughter is tremendous." Blaine laughed lightly.
"Shh... you're being loud. You're gonna wake Nessarose..." Ava attempted to coax the baby back to sleep, but it was a bit too late.
When Nessarose opened her eyes, Blaine swore time slowed down a bit.
Ava was one hundred percent, completely right.
These were Kurt's eyes.
