Chapter 28.
Smiles and a coffee.
"I need to get you back," Blaine whispered.
I turned to him. "Not really."
He chuckled and sat up. "Your dad would kill me."
"Hey, I'm older than you. Surely it'd be best if I took you home?"
"I don't have to worry about my parents." He pointed out.
I let him help me stand.
"And about that age difference, its just months," Blaine whispered. "I could have been in the same year as you if I was born just that little bit earlier."
"Hmm. Still older!" I grinned.
He laughed. "Okay, okay touche. Now let's get you home before your dad does really kill me."
I nodded, "Yeah you're not exactly in his good books."
"I'll have to try and get in them, then."
I smiled at him and leaned into his side, "Well, you're in my good books."
"I'm glad."
We walked through the last few tries and onto the path. The street lights made it easier to see, only now seeing how muddy we were.
"Wow...Okay if your dad asks, we fell."
"Sure, Or I just got dragged down?" I rose an eyebrow.
"That would really look good on me, huh?" I laughed and he joined in.
"Probably not. My dad really has a closed mind to this kind of thing."
"My parents too. Don't worry about it. As long as we're happy, right?"
I nodded, "Very happy."
He grinned and waited for me to catch up, He grabbed my hands.
"What are you doing?" I asked, he pulled me quickly as we ran across the road.
"Blaine, there's cars coming!" I gasped.
We slowed as we got to the opposite curb. "Rebel?" He smirked.
"We could have got knocked over!"
"But we didn't." He pointed out
"The cars were-"
"Nowhere near us." He chuckled, stepping forward into me.
I opened my mouth to argue more, but he interrupted again.
"I wouldn't put you in danger," He shook his head. "Trust me."
I did trust him, as scary as it was. I trusted him with everything, it was the first day of us being together and it felt like we'd been together for a lifetime. We both were wanting more to come.
He looked up at the house, "Tonight was nice." I said, "Thank you for inviting me."
"Thank you for agreeing." Blaine laughed, I joined in for a second.
I looked down at his lips, wanting to kiss him again, I wanted to feel him. The side of his mouth turned up into a smirk, leaning closer he kissed me gently, pushing his head against mine.
"Night, Kurt." He said quietly, his eyes half closed.
"Night, Blaine." I stepped backwards, not really wanting too. He gave me a small wave, I jogged up the stairs to the front door. I waved from there and opened the door, He only turned when I closed the door.
I leaned against the front door and sighed. I felt like screaming, like announcing to the world that I had the best boyfriend in the universe. That just didn't feel enough. The light flicked on above me, my dad was awake.
"Dad?" I said. He frowned.
"Jesus, what happened to your clothes?"
"Oh, we fell down a muddy hill."
He rose one eyebrow. "Oh, I bet." His sarcasm showed.
"Nice, no.. How was it, Kurt? How was your date son?" I put my hands on my hip.
"I knew you had a good time, you were out so late."
"It still would have been nice." I huffed, taking off my muddy waist coat.
"Sorry. How was it?" He asked.
"The best night of my life." I started climbing the stairs.
"Did you..?" I stopped in the middle, and looked down at him.
"Did we what dad?"
"You know, did you kiss?"
"Yes, we kissed."
"And?" I frowned.
"What do you want me to say dad? that it was horrible? That oh my god, it's turned me straight?"
"No.. Kurt, I'm sorry." He sighed. "I'm glad you've got someone you like, Just be careful, you know."
"Careful of what, dad?"
"Guys don't tend to want a relationship do they?" I could of hit him.
"Thanks dad. Thanks a lot."
"I didn't mean you, I meant...others."
"Just be quiet. You're making it worse.'' He followed me up the stairs.
"Kurt. I'm not sure what I'm saying. I.. want to make it right. I just want you to be careful. I really don't want you hurt again."
"Dad, Blaine isn't like that. He's the most sweetest guy you'll ever meet. He likes me for me, he makes me feel so good about myself."
"That's good," Dad smiled. "I'm sorry, I just want you to be sure before you do stuff, you know."
"Is this your idea of the 'talk', dad? Are you really bringing sex into it? Want to talk about sex dad?" I tilted my head. "Want to talk about my sex life.. really?"
He sighed, "Kurt. I wanted to talk about this nicely."
"You blew that then." I said, "Thanks for ruining my night, dad!" I looked at him, and opened my bedroom door.
"I'll make it up to you, Kurt."
"Not tonight, I'm tired. I just want to go to sleep."
"Okay, sure. Night Kurt!"
"Night dad."
I sighed and looked into my room. I took out my phone.
Blaine:
Loved seeing you smile so much tonight.
See you tomorrow, Kurt.
<3
I smiled.
The light burned through my eyelids, I smiled and opened them. Last night images started coming back into my head.
"Kurt!" Rachel's voice banged through the door. I frowned, sitting up. "Kurt!"
"Alright I'm coming!" I said, half through a yawn.
I walked across the room opening the door. She smiled and paced herself.
"The competition ends today, the final parts are being announced. Are you nervous?"
I really hadn't thought about it, I was going to change the song and everything.
"Oh god," I whispered. "I forgot about it... My single ladies entry is still in, I wanted to change"
She furrowed. "Kurt, it was a good performance, just because the low lifes cannot handle it."
"I wanted to do something better." I sat on my bed, "What if they don't like my work, Rachel? I won't ever get into NYADA..."
"Hey you will, You've got the audtiones. Besides I'm sure they will love you!" She smiled.
"How can you be ready so early in the morning?" I questioned.
"I haven't really slept, I've been worrying about the results." She bit the edge of her finger.
I laughed. "You want a coffee or something?"
She grinned. "I was going to ask if you wanted to grab one on the way to school, I thought perhaps we could go over Nationals while having a refreshing brew?"
I shrugged. "Sure, just need to get changed, I can grab something to eat at the shop."
She nodded. "Okay, I shall meet you downstairs when you're done." then excited by closing the door on me trying to find an outfit.
__
We entered the coffee shop.
"I'll get them in, if you get a table." I said, she agreed and went to find a table. "Two medium drips please, can one have two sugars? Thank you." I said, my phone vibrated in my pocket.
Blaine:
Morning cutie x.
I smiled.
Kurt:
Morning honey bun.
Are we starting to have pet names now? ;)
Blaine:
Stating the truth sweetheart.
I can deal with pet names ;D
Kurt:
I really can't, they make me feel like a poodle or something.
Blaine:
Sorry<3 Are you ready yet?
The girl passed me the coffees, "Thank you!" I said, "Have a nice day sir." I took the drinks over to Rachel.
Kurt:
I'm having a coffee with Rachel, we were early birds :)
"Who are you texting?" She asked, stiring some sugar into her drink.
"Oh, Blaine." I put my phone on the table, opening a packet of sugar myself.
"How are you two? Official now then?"
"Mhhhm," I smirked, "He took me on this date last night, it was the actual definition of perfection."
She laughed, "Really? What did you do?''
"We got food, watched a film and I introduced him to my mom."
She looked up. "Your mom? but your mom's-"
"I know, I still think it was important to introduce them and he was fine with it...In fact, he encouraged it."
"Aw, that's so sweet!" She sipped her drink.
Blaine:
Do you mind if I come join you? I'm ready :) x
"Do you mind if Blaine joins us? I'm sure he has some opinions for the show also."
"Of course, strickly business though." I smiled shaking my head with bemusement.
Kurt:
Course, we're at Lima Bean<3
Blaine:
See you in 5<3 xx
I put my phone down and sat forward.
"So do you like the idea of me and Blaine singing a duet?"
"Yes yes, you sounded so perfect. We just need to get it right, the emotion was there. Maybe some moves, instead of Blaine sitting there"
"Sounds good, And the second song?" I questoned.
"Bohemian Rhapsody" She nodded. "Like Mercedes said, we can do so much with it. Dancing and everyone can participate."
"You get leading role I guess?" I smirked.
"Well, If you insist.." She giggled.
The door opened and Blaine walked in carrying his bag over his shoulder, he smiled as he walked towards us.
"Blaine!" I said, standing up.
"Hey Kurt." He breathed a smile, then coughed. "Hi Rachel, How are you?"
"I'm good, thank you Blaine. How about you?"
"Good, really good." I let him slide over on the seat before I got in.
"We were just talking about Nationals. I think your duet was lovely. Really think it'd be an eye opener." I smiled and looked at him.
"She wants us to dance more though," Blaine shrugged. "I can do a little boogy if necassary." He jiggled himself on the seat.
"Brilliant!" Rachel grinned, clapping her hands together. "It's all started to come into my head, I can see everything," She jumped, excited. "Oh, I hope I've done good on the competition, that will really be the icing on the cake."
"Oh, yeah, did you remember about that?" I asked Blaine.
He nodded, "Sure, I did mine last week."
"Me too," I sighed. "I regret it though"
"Why? It was great" Blaine said enthusiastically.
"I could have done better, and I know it.."
"Kurt, you're judging your work from the terrible circumstances that had to happen to your video. It's not their opinions that matter, it's the judges." He reassured. "Besides, I don't lie. I loved it."
He looked at Rachel who nodded at him.
"I thought it was great, You hit the high notes well. The routine was flawless."
"And gay." I sighed.
"Do you think the judges are going to be looking at that? And if they are, they are going to be looking at how brave you are."
I looked at them both in turn before sighing.
"You two will never give up, huh?"
"Nope!" Rachel smirked, sipping her drink.
Blaine just smiled at me, the same smile he did to me every day when watching me. I had to try and stop myself from blushing when I saw it.
"Oh shoot, we'll be late for class!" Rachel gasped.
"I'll only be missing Math and that's hardly on my to do list..." I shrugged.
"Not good with numbers?" Blaine asked.
"I'm not bothered with numbers, it's not going to stop me getting on stage." Rachel grinned.
"Eeep, I love it when you talk about future stuff!"
"What do you want to do when you grow up?" I'd never thought of asking him.
He looked at me, "I've never really thought much about it. I love singing, dancing and all the stuff to do with it, but I don't think I've got what it takes to be on broadway."
Me and Rachel exchanged looks.
"Blaine, You have obviously not heard you sing, then." I said almost laughing.
"You're the best guy singer I know."
He smiled weakly. "Thanks, Kurt."
I took his hand, "I guess the future is a little bit further than we need to think right now, we've got Nationals to get through."
Rachel nodded and stood up. "Well, if we're not going to Math can we at least go and practise?"
"Lets." I agreed; jumping from the seat. I took my coffee with me,
"Want some?" I asked Blaine, he took a sip.
"Mm, nice choice" He complimented.
"Only the best," He walked at my side.
Walking through the corridor with Blaine at my side didn't seem too difficult. How ever when I saw Karofsky heading in our direction all courage dropped. I moved more into Blaine's side trying to avoid all contact with him as possible.
"He won't do anything." Blaine mumbled.
He'd obviously noticed my pathetic attempt at trying to run. I felt pathetic, running away from a bully. You're supposed to face them...Which reminded me.
"Puck and Finn are going to give me some bullying lessons at lunch today." I said to both of them.
"What, Finn is?" Rachel asked. "Can I tag along simply for the Finn talking? I'll use an excuse."
I shrugged, it didn't bother me.
"I'll come, for moral support of course." Blaine winked.
"Ha," I poked him. "I can use the gym equitment while I wait too."
"Oh, so its the equipment you want, not me" I nodded.
He chuckled and grabbed my arm.
"Nah, I want you." Those went through one ear and banged around in my head. I knew he meant it in a very normal way but my mind went haywire.
"You okay?" He asked, after we'd stood there in the middle of the corridor for 2 minutes.
"Oh, sorry. I was just thinking." I started walking again, this time with a quicker pace.
"About?" He asked.
"Just design ideas, clothes and stuff. Nationals."
That got Rachel talking, which thankfully took the dilemma straight off my mind.
