Chapter 23.
Boyfriend.
"Now, did you buy those shoes to go with that outfit?" Dad asked, when I walked into the kitchen.
"Oh. You noticed, I'm touched." I smiled, gesturing to my heart.
He laughed. "I made you some toast." He flicked the kettle on.
"Thanks, Oh.. no tea. I'm meeting Blaine at the gates. I really don't want to be late."
I stuffed a piece of toast into my mouth, coughing at the amount. His eyes looked at me, humoured, before letting out a laugh. "Waf?" I asked.
"You're going to have to swallow before you talk."
I chewed as fast I could, swallowing the lump of food down. "What are you looking at?"
"I'm pretty sure Blaine isn't going to get there half an hour before school actually starts, Kurt."
I looked up at the clock, "Is it that early? Oh, new record."
"Only by a bit, sit down and eat properly. You'll get indigestion."
He did have a point.
He sat opposite me, blowing on his coffee. "So this Blaine?.. a friend of yours?"
"Well of last night, he might be a bit more."
"Last night?"
"He came around, he only stayed for five minutes though."
His face looked back at me, still just as blank.
"We kissed." I smiled, happy I could say it.
He coughed. "Uhm, Happy for you son." He smiled. "When do I get to meet this Blaine?"
"Oh, you've met him." I swallowed the last bit of my toast.
"I have?"
"He was the one in the garden the other night, the one who liked your flowers too." I smirked.
"The back chatter?"
"He was just upset because I was upset." I defended.
"Hmm, I hope he doesn't make a habit of it."
"Blaine's nice. Really, dad. He just gets things wrong a lot..." I laughed.
"Now, are we speaking from experience?" He raised an eyebrow.
"It doesn't matter, I'm only looking towards the future."
"Well if you think he's good for you Kurt. I can only trust your judgement."
"Thanks dad." I kissed his cheek, "But I do really need to go now, just under 10 minutes."
__
Dad had offered me a lift but I'd decided to walk it. It would do good for my nerves. I pushed the sachel further onto my shoulder, walking at a slow pace. I had several comments and sniggers as I passed, the mocks kept flying my way, I just held my hands together in front of me. I smiled widely when I saw him. He was leaning on the metal gate, wearing tight green skinny jeans and a plaid black and grey shirt.
"Good morning!" He said, when I approached.
"I don't know about good..." I looked up at the sky, clouds covering the sky.
"So we talk about the weather now?" He surveyed me, before producing a plastic cup.
"Aw, you got me coffee." I grinned.
"Did I get it right?"
I sipped, and stared at him, watching that nervous smile. "Mmm, one to you Mr Anderson."
He chuckled, pushing the gate open.
"How did you sleep?" He asked.
"Well. What about you?" I blew onto my drink.
"I tossed a bit, the sofa's not that comfortable."
I frowned. "Why are you sleeping on the sofa?"
"Well I'm not going to sleep in the same bed as Sebastian anymore, am I?" He smiled.
My chest buzzed with excitement.
"He gets the bed, no questions asked." He shrugged.
"Well, how about you move back in with your parents?"
"Ha. Like they'd give a damn about me." It was quick and his tone was harsh.
I wanted to ask about them more, what made him hate them so much but I wasn't sure if this was the right place.
"Maybe you could just visit them or something."
"No,"
"Why not?"
"My parents are not the best of people. They judge people, Kurt."
"Oh."
"They act nice to your face but behind your back it's another story."
"So they're a bit like, keeping up with the Jones's?"
"You could say that." He shrugged.
"Well, maybe I could come with you? Moral support."
He stared at me, the toggles in his brain working. "I don't want you to meet them."
I swallowed. "Oh.."
"Oh, no Kurt, don't do that face. I don't mean- it's not you.. it's not you."
"I hear that so often." I laughed a bit.
"Hey," He mumbled, grabbing my hands. "Don't you go thinking I'm ashamed of you." He shook his head, eyes staring straight into mine. "My parents get involved with things, try and change them. They still want me to bring a girl home.. and I wouldn't be able to control myself if they ever said anything against you."
I looked back at him, smiling a bit.
"I don't know what it is about you, Kurt Hummel..." he whispered.
He closed part of the gap that seperated our shouders from touching as we walked.
"So you guys are actually together?!" Rachel grinned, jogging from her locker.
"Yep!" I smiled.
"This is lovely." Giggling, she smiled at Blaine.
Blaine kissed the top of my hand gently, making her 'go ga ga' over the thought again.
"I want to know everything!" Rachel grinned at the side of me.
"I need to get to class, I'll see you in the choir room later." He gestured for both of us but his eyes only stayed on me.
I nodded. "Bye, Blaine."
"Spill!" Rachel said once Blaine was out of earshot.
"I don't kiss and tell." I smirked.
"So you kissed?"
"Yes, we kissed." I opened my locker.
"We're going to have dates for the end of year dance, this is so perfect."
"Who are you taking then?" I asked.
"Finn."
"And has he asked you yet?"
"Not in so many words, but I am working on it." She nodded.
"Speaking of the devil..." I nodded at Finn who was approaching.
"It's too early to be in school," He grumbled.
Rachel patted his arm, "Come on, I'll walk you to class."
She winked at me as she passed. I laughed and shook my head, bemused.
