Chapter 13.
So Raise Your Glass If You're Gay.
I walked through the corridors, heading for the exit doors at the end of the hall.
"You sing brilliantly. I'm impressed." Blaine complimented, catching up with me.
"Is that your faggot boyfriend?" Karofsky caught my eye with a smirk.
"Would you like to repeat that?" Blaine asked, his eyebrow raised.
"How many times has he tried to touch you?" Karofsky grinned, proud of his found.
I felt my cheeks blush.
"Excuse me?" Blaine barked.
"You're all the same, stinking filth." He pressed, grabbing my arm.
Blaine twisted his arm back. "Move along."
Karofsky spat at his feet, giving him the eye. Blaine kept eye contact, hard eyes until he moved away and followed his friends.
"Thanks.." I said.
"Don't mention it, he obviously doesn't have a large brain...which is unfortunate for that size head."
I couldn't help but laugh. "It is rather large, isn't it?"
He chuckled and held the door open for me, "I've. um, finished that song by the way." He smiled. "You know, that Pink song I was on about doing?"
"You've got me intrigued.." A sly smirk on my face. "But which way did you choose, the hard shell or the sweet emotions she brings with her songs?"
He grinned and stepped backwards.
"Right, right turn of the lights.
We're going to lose our minds tonight!"
He twisted his hips in a circular motion.
"We're going to lose our minds tonight." He smirked at me.
"I love when it's all too much, 5 am turn the radio up.. where's that rock and roll?"
His hands gripped into mine and twirled me around fast, turning around in a circle at what seemed like super speed on the spot, I watched as his lips moved with the words.
"Why so serious?" He raised an eyebrow before his feet left the floor, jumping on the spot. "So raise your glass if you are wrong, in all the right ways!" He winked towards me "Come on, come on, so raise your glass."
Our eyes met and I found myself singing back the lyrics, my smile spreading from cheek to cheek, I took a long blink, trying to question his perfectness.
"Oh slam slam, oh hot damn.
What of party don't you understand?"
He smirked, walking closer to me.
"Party crasher, party snatcha,
Call me up if you were gangsta!"
He took my hands once again, pulling me closer. "Don't be fancy, just get dancy.." He directed me backwards, I watched his feet and followed his steps before hearing his laughter, making my heart thump in my chest. He turned quick, grabbing each of my shoulders for balance. the looks people were giving us didn't matter, I didn't mind them looking at us. Even the insults that were thrown our way, were just a bur of noise. I was in the moment with him.
His voice broke me out of thought. "So if you're too school for cool..." He pouted, "I mean, if you're treated like a fool, we could always, party on our own.."
________
We fell onto the grass, most of the school had cleared out by now. The odd feeling was, it only felt like seconds had passed.
"So what did you think?" He asked, turning his head towards me.
I moved my weight up onto my hand, and leaned down squinting against the slight sun. "It was good. Really good." I was also going to find that extremely hard to compete against. He was flawless.
"You okay?" He asked, a slight frown pressed against his forehead.
"I don't think I should have entered..." I mumbled.
He sat up. "Woah, what?" he crossed his legs. "You cannot be serious. Kurt, you are so talented."
"Not really. I could never compete with that."
He looked at me, his expression unreadable.
"If I tell you something, promise you won't take it the wrong way?"
Now I was confused, "Is that criticism coming my way?" I raised an eyebrow.
He shrugged. "Stop playing safe."
"Playing safe?" I questioned.
"You choose the songs you know you can do, right?"
I swallowed.
"Go for something you've never done. Experiment.. go for it.. completely." He smiled, causing my stomach to go all giddly.
I considered it.
"Earth to Kurt!" Blaine poked me in the side.
"Don't, that tickles." I laughed a little while pointing at him with my finger.
"Oh no, the finger!" He put his hands up in mock surrender. "Now I've been told."
I checked the time on my phone. "I should be getting back."
"Is your dad being okay with you now?"
I shrugged. "My dad doesn't get me. He doesn't know I'm gay. He's not exactly nice when he talks about you know.."
He seemed to understand, his face said so.
"Do your parents know?"
"Yeah. They're okay with it, but it took a while. Took them time to get used the idea, you know.. get through their heads that it wasn't a phase."
I giggled. "I certainly know mine isn't a phase."
We stood up.
"Are you doing anything this weekend?" He asked, grabbing his bag and shoving it across his shoulder.
"No. Well I might be seeing Mercedes." I paused as we walked. "Why?" I turned my head towards him.
"Just wondering if you were going to Brittany's party tomorrow?"
Oh yeah, that.
"Are you going?" I asked.
"I don't know, I might see..''
"I might just go and see how it is." I said over the top of him.
"..Yeah, me too," He agreed.
I looked at the school gates. "So I guess I'll see you tomorrow then."
He nodded and shot me a smile. "Yeah you will."
