Chapter 11.
Kurt heard voices. Muffled voices. Like they were concealed through a wall. He tried to open my eyes, when he heard a close beeping. "You should be resting, Blaine."
"I'm not leaving him. You heard the doctor, my presence makes his heart beat steadier."
A small sigh. "He was probably trying to make you feel like you were doing something."
"Why are you even here, Finn?" Blaine snapped.
"I came to see how he was, you too. If you needed a break."
"I'm fine."
"What happened exactly?"
"The doctors told you. We crashed."
"How though.. did the breaks fail or something?"
"Just a car. Came out of nowhere."
"How is he?" Rachel's voice added to the conversation as she walked in.
"Only two at a time." Another female said.
"I'm not leaving him" Blaine shook his head.
"I'll go" Finn agreed.
"Blaine.." Kurt whispered, or tried too at least. All that came out was a gurgle of noise.
The room went silent until Rachel broke it. "Did he just?"
"Kurt?" Blaine's voice was closer now, Kurt could feel his breath on his cheek, he tried to open his heavy eyes. The light was extremely bright, so Kurt squinted them closed.
"Kurt," He said again.
"Kurt?" Rachel's voice got brighter, "I'll go get a nurse" She added, her shoes tapping a quick departure.
Kurt swallowed, his saliva leaving past a coarse pain in his throat. He opened his eyes again, seeing Blaine's face, his eyes. Pleading, "Hello." He couldn't control his smile, Kurt closed his eyes for a long blink and tried to smile back.
"You had me scared for a second there, baby." He whispered.
"Sorry." Kurt croaked, he shook his head, and put a hand over my cheek.
"You're okay, that's what matters." He blinked tears on his face, "God, if I had lost you.." His voice broke.
"How are you feeling. Mr. Hummel?" The nurse came in, followed by Rachel. Kurt opened his mouth and tried to think of the words to explain how he was feeling.
"Thirsty," the damaged boy answered.
"I'm not surprised." She smiled, pouring some water from the jug on the side of the table. Kurt took it from her carefully, downing it in seconds. He licked my lips. Blaine grinned in response, and his throat cleared a bit.
"Thank you." Kurt thanked, she took the cup and put it back.
"Are you aware of what happened?" She asked.
"What happened?" He repeated.
"With the accident."
"What accident?" He frowned.
"The car, Kurt." Blaine whispered.
"I.. I don't remember a car accident?" She looked at me and then to Blaine, though there was no surprised glance hidden at all in her eyes.
"What happened?" He asked, trying to sit up. Scrunching his face up at the pain that shot through Kurt's stomach and his head pounded.
"Kurt, stay still." Blaine hurried to his side, trying to help him. Kurt hastily waved him off.
"Kurt, we're going to get some food brought to you and then we'll need to run a few tests, is that okay?" He nodded. she smiled and walked out the room.
"It's so good to see you sat up." Rachel smiled weakly.
"I.. how long have I been asleep?" Kurt mumbled.
"Just over a week." Blaine whispered, he looked at him now. "You scared me." He repeated.
"What happened to me? Was it something to do with Karofsky?"
"No." Blaine sighed. "No, Kurt we were in a car accident." Kurt shook his head.
"But we didn't crash, we didn't have a car accident."
"On the way home from Sebastian's.. the argument?"
Kurt tilted his head at him and blinked. "I really don't recall. Maybe you dreamed it." He smirked.
"No, Kurt, you were in an accident." Rachel agreed, "It was horrible."
Kurt wrapped his hands around his stomach. "So, what's the damage?"
"Cracked ribs. Bruised bones, your head." He pointed, a bandage not only wrapped around his thin middle but over his pounding head. Not to mention the plastic tube that devided into his nose, helping him breathe steadily.
"Oh." Kurt only noticed now. "What about you?" He mumbled.
"No serious damage. If I was any taller I could have been at risk of being beheaded though." He tried to smile but Kurt could see the fear in his eyes.
Kurt shook his head of the image. "No," Kurt whispered, "I'm so sorry.. for the accident. I.. think it's my fault."
"No.. it wasn't your fault." Blaine put his hands over mine.

After Kurt had eaten his tuna sandwhich, the doctor insisted that he went for his tests as soon as possible. Kurt was now sat on the bed, covers draped over his body. Blaine was talking with the doctor, Kurt could see him through the window, his intent face, listening. Then it broke. Kurt frowned, watching him shake his head, his head turned towards Kurt, his hands pressed up against the glass.
"No" Kurt could read through his lips. Kurt frowned, and tried to get up, using his hands against the frame. He shook his head and pushed open the door.
"Kurt, stay still." He whispered, coming to his bedside, taking his weak hands.
