Chapter 7: Try
Isabelle and Blaine now stood on Blaine's porch trying to build up the strength to open the door, well at least Blaine was. Isabelle gave Blaine's hand a soft squeeze of reassurance,
"I'm here and I'm not going no matter what, I've seen both sides of the road Blaine so I know how to handle a situation like this. The question is, are you?" She asked softly and quietly. Blaine knew he couldn't avoid his mother for the rest of his life and he knew that situations like this didn't always have a happy ending but at least he would have Isabelle…and Kurt.
"Yeah better do this while I still have the guts to." He sighed nervously.
"Alright just try and relax I'm here." Isabelle smiled softly one more time and took a last deep breath before reaching and opening the door slowly.
When they finally stepped into the house Blaine didn't see his mom right away and he noticed that there was furniture in his house finally. Besides the obvious changes to the house Blaine began to head towards the Kitchen with Isabelle following behind.
And there his mother sat, at the kitchen table staring down at a cup of coffee silently.
"Mom?" Blaine said softly, she looked up and gave a sad smile before turning to look down at her hands.
"Mom, I want to talk to you." She simply hummed in acknowledgement; he looked over to Isabelle who mouthed to him that he should sit down. He slid off his backpack and sat in the seat across from her trying to think of what to say first, he felt a warm hand on his shoulder, he looked up and it was Isabelle smiling encouragingly.
"Mom…I really, really would like for you to understand that…I'm not different because I'm…gay. I love you and… I would hate to lose you over something like this, something that I am." Blaine spoke almost above a whisper; his mother didn't do anything but blink.
"Could you, can you look at me? Please?" he asked hesitantly. After a few lasting seconds she managed to pull her head up and look Blaine in the face.
"Mom please just, just know that I'm still you're son. The son you raised, the son you taught to play piano, the song you sang with everyday. I'm still Blaine." His lip quivered as he spoke and tears started rushing down his cheeks. He mother bit her lip and started to tear up herself. Isabelle's strong voice broke the almost heart wrenching silence.
"Mrs. Anderson Blaine's right, the way he feels towards other men doesn't change the way he feels about you or how he feels about life. It's not easy…being gay in these times and I know from experience he's going to need someone like a parent to support and help him. He is your son just like he said, that will never ever change unless you let it." Blaine grabbed her hand from his shoulder and gave it a squeeze to represent how much he appreciated her being there. Blaine's mother looked at Isabelle in awe before turning to Blaine with glossy eyes. A sudden teary smile grew on her face and she let out a small single sob that melted into an emotional chuckle.
"Blaine…my baby…I-I'm so, so sorry. I should have listened despite my opinion but you and her, you're right. You're my damn son and I am your mother, and I love you." She sobbed lightly reaching for his hand and squeezing it.
"Yes it might take me a while to get use to the idea of it but it doesn't matter because you're still my boy." She sniffled before smiling once again, Blaine looked at her astonished yet relieved that she understood.
"Really?" he choked out and squeezed her hand back.
"Really I shouldn't have said the things I did because you're full proof that I was-am wrong." She sniffled before standing up to reach over the table and pull Blaine into a hug.
"Just don't bring any dirt bags home." She chuckled into his shoulder.
"Ok mom, ok." He giggled in response.
They both wiped away their tears once they pulled away from each other's grasp; Blaine looked over to Isabelle and threw her a grateful smile.
"Me and ah Izzy are gonna go up to my room and study for a bit if that's alright."
"Yeah that's fine I just have to go pick up dinner, Chinese alright?" she smioled and picked her keys up from the table.
"Yeah Chinese sounds great." He smiled and picked up his backpack.
"Will you be staying Isabelle?" She asked, Blaine was surprised it was only forty eight hours ago she was insulting her and calling her a stray.
"Uhm sure if Blaine wants me to?" She turned to him with a questioning look.
"Yeah , totally, stay for dinner." He nodded quickly and smiled.
"Alright I'll be back in a bit don't set the house on fire." His mother giggled before walking past them and out the front door.
"Well that well, awkward after, but well." Isabelle smiled before tugging Blaine up the stairs to his room.
"How about "Nine in The After Noon" by Panic! At The Disco?" Blaine suggested as he scrolled through his iPod.
"And what moment would you be singing about? That time you woke up nine in the afternoon?" Isabelle sasses and took the iPod from his hands.
"Well I don't know there are tons of moments in my life I could sing about so why not just sing any song and let Mr. Shue assume." Blaine shrugged and through himself on his mattress.
"Oh no, no, no you're not gonna toss this assignment because your being Mr. Lazy. C'mon think of a moment any kind, the first one to pop in your head and tell me." She instructed him and propped herself on her elbows as she lay on the floor.
"When I saw Kurt." He didn't even think he just let it shoot out of his mouth he looked at Isabelle in panic; she simply had a smug smirk on her face.
"Awww B you mean the moment you fell head over heels?" She taunted with a grin, he simply shot her an annoyed look and huffed because she was right.
"Don't give me that face Sir Grumpers I happen to have the perfect song now stand up, we'll do some runs."
"You're going to practice with me?' Blaine asked hopefully as he stood up.
"Let me correct that, stand up so you can do some runs. In your dreams Blainers." Blaine simply pouted and cleared his throat.
Blaine and Isabelle now sat in the coir room as Santana sang a decent version of I'm a Bitch by The Plastacines. Once she finished the room filled with awkward and hesitant claps and she simply bowed and grinned.
"Wow Santana that was…intriguing but what exactly did that song represent for your moment?" Mr. Shue asked .
"I was singing about the moment I realized I was a bitch and decided to own up to it. I think I did great." Santana simply quipped back and crossed her arms.
"Okayyy…uhm who's next?"
"I'll go?" Blaine raised his hand hesitantly and walked up to the main floor. And the music started to play,
I've just seen a face
I can't forget the time or place
Where we just meet
She's just the girl for me
And want all the world to see
We've met, mmm-mmm-mmm-m'mmm-mmm
Blaine took a chance and winked at Kurt who sat watching idly with a small smile.
Had it been another day
I might have looked the other way
And I'd have never been aware
But as it is I'll dream of her
Tonight, di-di-di-di'n'di
Falling, yes I am falling
And she keeps calling
Me back again
He did a small twirl and shot Kurt a goofy smile.
I have never known
The like of this, I've been alone
And I have missed things
And kept out of sight
But other girls were never quite
Like this, da-da-n'da-da'n'da
Falling, yes I am falling
And she keeps calling
Me back again
Falling, yes I am falling
And she keeps calling
Me back again
I've just seen a face
I can't forget the time or place
Where we just meet
She's just the girl for me
And want all the world to see
We've met, mmm-mmm-mmm-da-da-da
Falling, yes I am falling
And she keeps calling
Me back again
Falling, yes I am falling
And she keeps calling
Me back again
Oh, falling, yes I am falling
And she keeps calling
Me back again
As usual he gave all he could to the last not and this time he sang it while having full eye contact with Kurt.
The whole club clapped and sneaked in a few cat calls and yet Kurt simply sat clapping lightly and actually glared at Isabelle that made Blaine far more confused. He glared for god sakes.
"Once again a great choice Blaine I'm afraid we are out of time so you guys are free to go I'll see you all tomorrow." Mr. Shue clapped and headed to his office.
"Dude that was great!" Finn clapped him on the shoulder and smiled which distracted Blaine from seeing Kurt dash out of the room.
Once everyone was done complimenting him and left the room Blaine turned to Isabelle who had a sympathetic look.
"I knew he wouldn't like it, I knew he wouldn't like….wouldn't like me. What was I thinking?" He huffed and plopped down onto the piano seat in frustration.
"I'm sorry B maybe it was just the song or he didn't get the song right away? I mean you're totally likeable and defiantly boyfriend material, he'll wake up and see it…soon."
Kurts POV
"Yo Hummel! Wait up!" Puck yelled at the slim cheerleader as he walked over to his car.
Kurt huffed and turned to the annoying jock with crossed arms and his best bitch face.
"What do you want Puck?" he sighed in annoyance.
"Listen you know Isabelle right?" Kurt nodded.
"Well what does she like? I mean, is she gift lover? Does she just skip right to mackin? You gotta help me here!" He begged.
"Help you with what exactly?" Kurt asked, puzzled.
"Dude I wanna get in a few dates with the chick believe it or not I mean she's a cutie." Puck simply shrugged and Kurt just stared blankly.
"Puck I think all of the tackles you take from football is making you more and more stupid either that or your completely oblivious." Kurt huffed.
"What do mean?"
"Isabelle is taken!" he shouted in frustration and anger, he didn't need to remind himself.
"What the hell, by who?" He quizzed and took a step closer.
"Blaine, you idiot! I mean do you not see how they are together 24/7 or how Blaine is always singing love songs for her?" He expressed and started to stomp back to his car.
"Dude wait, I thought that Blaine dude was gay." Puck followed him to his Navigator.
"Puck what did I just say? Blaine and Isabelle are inseparable! Why the hell do you think he's so damn protective? Or why he sang her All of My Love when he first joined glee?" He exclaimed and slid into his car and slammed his door.
"Woah what crawled up your ass today?"
"Puck just give it up! Blaine is taken!" Kurt yelled before speeding out of the parking lot leaving Puck to stand alone and confused.
Comments
Oh goodness, Kurt is the one that's oblivious. Did he not remember when Blaine leaned in, in the bathroom? This should be interesting.
