Chapter 6: Good Intent
Blaine spent the night peacefully at Isabelle's house they stayed up all night discussing their usual topics and giggling over Auntie Mame. Blaine was woken up by the think scent of vanilla and cinnamon only to go downstairs and found Isabelle fully dressed and flipping pieces of French toast.
Once he was fully dressed and fed they still had a half hour so waist so they decided to stop at the Lima Bean before going to school.
"So given any thought to the assignment you're supposed to do for Glee club this week?" Isabelle asked as she sipped on her caramel latte.
"Not really there are tons of moments I can sing about so I don't know I'll probably be the last one to sing this week if I can't think of anything yet." Blaine sighed.
"Yeah probably." Isabelle said mischievously and was that a smirk? Blaine shook off her odd behavior.
"So how about you help me choose a song after school, since the last one you chose was great I think I might need your magic." He chuckled.
"Sounds good to me." She smiled and suddenly she looked slightly worried.
"Blaine you know you're going to have to talk to your mom sometime." She said quietly, Blaine had been avoiding the thought and subject like a disease.
"I know it's just…."
"You're scared of what might happen." Isabelle finished for him; he simply nodded and stared down at his coffee.
"B I know what its like and if you feel comfortable….I'll do it with you. But only if you want me to I remember when I was kind of dealing with the same thing and it was really odd not having some kind of backup." She looked at him with soft eyes and a sad smile.
"You'd do that?" He asked sheepishly.
"You bet your ass I would." She replied with a big smile but within a second it was gone and Isabelle looked frozen.
"I-I have to use the restroom I'll be right back." She said quickly before jogging over to the ladies bathroom.
"She really doesn't want to see me does she?" a familiar voice said from behind Blaine, he turned around in his seat only to see Kurt holding is regular non-fat mocha.
"Honestly it would make sense she doesn't but who knows maybe she'll calm down." Blaine sighed.
"Well I guess if I can't talk to her I'll have to sing to her." Kurt smirked and sipped lightly on his coffee.
"I don't think breaking out in song at the Lima Bean is a good idea." Blaine chuckled.
"Not here you goof, in Glee club this afternoon. I chose this weekend to be my moment, the moment I realized I hurt my friend." He said calmly with a glint of guilt in his eye.
"Cool music is totally a way to win her over; I mean have you seen her CD and record collection." Blaine giggled.
"Yeah you're right and I chose a song I think she'll like. But I think I should go so she can finally come out of the bathroom and the three of us can head to school." Kurt sighed but grinned at Blaine before waving and turning to leave out the door.
Two minutes later Isabelle walked out of the restroom with unneeded caution she was also wearing a completely new shade of lipstick now.
"Ready to go?" She sighed.
Blaine now stood alone at his locker looking for his geometry book, Isabelle had to stay behind with a teacher for some reason so it was the first time he stood in the hallway without a friend. Of course when he didn't have anyone to protect him the jocks had to take full advantage of the opportunity. The minute Blaine closes his locker he gets splashed in the face by a green slushy with the sound of chuckling jocks. Blaine dropped the book he held in his hands and wiped the green ice from his eyes a slight sting from the food dye was already growing. Despite the horrible sting his eyes shot open when he felt and had on his elbow, Kurt's hand.
"Come with me I'll help you clean up." He huffed and began dragging Blaine to the nearest restroom, Blaine was speechless it was only a week ago he was laughing at Blaine for getting slushied.
When they finally reached the bathroom Kurt immediately started to run the sink and grab a handful of paper towels. He reached up and started to wipe away the icy contents out of his hair, Blaine felt his cheeks heat up when he started getting to his neck.
"I'm surprised you're not just laughing at me, the last time I got slushied you seemed pretty amused." He mumbled quietly and down casted his head. Kurt stopped his movements and gave a small huff.
"To be honest, it was the most fake laugh I've ever done and I feel like a hypocrite because I use to get slushied and I know it's not funny." He whispered and continued to wipe and stripe of food coloring from Blaine's jaw line. Blaine instantly placed his hand on his wrist and rubbed his thumbed soothingly over the underside of his wrist. He felt his pulse jump, he took a deep breath before leaning in.
"I h-have to go, see you in Glee club." Kurt stuttered before practically running out of the bathroom.
Now Blaine stood alone, he was so close to kissing Kurt and Kurt ran away. Kurt did want him and he never would because Blaine isn't McKinley royalty like him it would never work right? Blaine's heart break grew into frustration and anger, of course it wouldn't work! He was so stupid to think someone as great as Kurt would go for him he totally wasn't his type!
He quickly cleaned himself up before huffing and stomping out of the restroom, he just needed the day to be over.
When it was time for Glee Blaine put on his best smile for Isabelle it was obvious she was still a bit upset but he hope Kurt would straighten things out. He took his seat next to Isabelle and slipped his fingers in between hers to reassure her that he was there; she gave him a small smile and faced Mr. Shue.
"Alright everyone hopefully some of you guys got your songs for this week's assignment like I said last week it's about moments and memories so who would like to go first?" Of course Rachel was the first to shoot her hand up.
"My performance is about the moment I fell in love." She said brightly before kissing fin on the cheek and hopping down to the center of the room.
She sang Evergreen by Barbara Streisand, predictable.
"Great as always Rachel and a good choice." Mr. Shue praised and gestured for her to take her seat.
"Mr. Shue if I may?" Kurt spoke up from his seat.
"You have the floor Kurt." Mr. Shue smiled and took his seat on his stool.
"This song is bout when I realized….how horrible I've been to people and certain members of this club and this is my apology." He said stood and said quietly looking over at Blaine and Isabelle whose sight was down casted to the floor.
Once he was in the center of the room brad began to play a song tune on the Piano.
I was dreaming of the past
and my heart was beating fast
I began to lose control
I began to lose control
Kurt kept a steady gaze at Isabelle who didn't dare look at him, she bit her lip at the acknowledgement of the song.
I didn't mean to hurt you
I'm sorry that I made you cry
Oh my I didn't want to hurt you
I'm just a jealous guy
There was a small choke in Kurt's voice as he sang not daring to look away from Isabelle.
I was feeling insecure
You might not love me anymore
I was shivering inside
I was shivering inside
Kurt took a step forward and looked into Blaine's eye for a second before turning back to Isabelle.
Oh I didn't mean to hurt you
I'm sorry that I made you cry
Oh my I didn't want to hurt you
I'm just a jealous guy
Kurt put a small emphases on "jealous" which confused Blaine. After a few seconds of Kurt humming and a small piano solo he sang out the next lyrics.
I didn't mean to hurt you
I'm sorry that I made you cry
Oh my I didn't want to hurt you
I'm just a jealous guy
Suddenly Kurt pushed passed the chairs and walked up to Isabelle singing with a few tears falling from his eyes and trying to get her to look at him.
I was trying to catch your eyes
I thought that you were trying to hide
I was swallowing my pain
Kurt took her free hand in his and continued to sing.
I was swallowing my pain
I didn't mean to hurt you
I'm sorry that I made you cry
Oh my I didn't want to hurt you
I'm just a jealous guy
Isabelle finally pulled her head up with to reveal her tear streaked face just as Kurt was finishing the song.
Watch out baby I'm just a jealous guy
Look out baby I'm just a jealous guy
The room was silent and all eyes were on Blaine, Kurt and Isabelle.
"I'm so sorry I shouldn't had done that to you, can you forgive me?" Kurt asked quietly. Isabelle bit her bottom lip and looked at him for awhile.
"You idiot….you sang me a fucking Lennon song of course I'll forgive you." She chuckled and pulled him into a hug.
"Woah, hold up now Kurt Hummel has feelings?" Santana scoffed from her seat, interrupting the moment. Kurt pulled away and shot her a glare before turning to Blaine.
"You know I'm sorry right? I know how protective you can be of her and I'm just as sorry for how I've been treating you." He stated calmly.
"Yeah I know." Blaine simply smiled and nodded trying his best not to get lost in his eyes.
"Wow Kurt that was really great and your voice was very sincere, so anyone else have a song?" Blaine rolled his eyes at Mr. Shue always dismissing Kurt's talent along with other members.
While Mr. Shue kept babbling about sectionals and about participation Blaine was watching Kurt giggle and whisper with Isabelle. Kurt was cute when he laughed his nose scrunched up and his eyes got small he was too cute for his own good Blaine couldn't look away. Before he knew it everyone was picking up their stuff and leaving and Isabelle was dragging him to the car.
"Sooo… What did you think of Kurt's song?" She asked simply as she turned on the car and started to pull out of the parking lot.
"It was good, great even." He mumbled he almost regretted that he said that but then he remembered that Isabelle already knew about his crush on Kurt. The rest of the car ride was silent, when they pulled into Isabelle's car spot Blaine froze. His mom's car was in the driveway, she was home. He shot Isabelle a look of panic but she simply gave him a look of sympathy.
"You should just go through with it now B, and I'll be there so don't worry." She said softly before exiting the car and walking over to his porch.
