"Blaine, will you please hurry up, I have another person in me and Ive been ready for 15 minutes now, comon." Kurt said getting impatient.
"Yes, thats because I helped you get ready too, so now sit down until Im ready." Blaine shouted from the bathroom where he was fiddling with his hair.
"Okay, first of all, Im carrying another person with me so I cant really dress myself with this swollen stomach. Sorry to bother you." He shouted a little angrily and sat on the couch and flipped through a magazine.
"You know what I meant, you didnt bother me babe, you know that." Blaine entered the living room with the car keys in his hand and helped Kurt up on his feet and pulled him close, well as close as the baby allowed.
"I dont want you to feel like you are doing this alone because were doing it together. We are a team right?" Blaine kissed him on the lips sweetly as he leaned over his swollen stomach.
"I know, and I love you." Kurt told him honestly.
"I love you too, now lets go." Blaine grabbed his hand lead him out the house.
They got in the car and drove to the hospital for their next session with Dr. Smyth. Kurt was a little nervous about the birth part of all this. And that was the main point of the session and Dr. Smyth is gonna examine him to see if the canal for natural birth is there or not.
They got to the hospital and were in the room immediately to see the doctor.
"Well hello, my favorite gays." The doctor came in with his usual smile.
"Hey doctor, can we please start talking about why we are here, Im dying." Kurt said and Blaine tried to stop his laughing. The doctor smirked at him and got up from his chair. He rounded his desk and sat on top of it, dangling his feet.
"So Kurt what have you been up to? Huh? Driving Blaine crazy?" He asked with a smug laugh, ignoring the impatient look on Kurts face.
"Really? Okay. Ive been great. Umm not so much sleep with all the kicking but its been okay so far, I know its only gonna get harder and Im really heavy right now, I feel like Im carrying triples. And also my back hurts during the morning when I get up. Im kinda trying to write some stuff, ideas, I dont know anything everything since Blaine is working right now, but I think after our baby is born and maybe well have enough money to provide for all of us, maybe Blaine and I can go to college and I dont know maybe pursue our dreams." When Kurt started talking, he didnt stop, he kept on going everything hes thought about when he was alone in his own head.
"Well, thats great. Im happy that you guys are thinking about the future and what your life is going to be like after the baby is born, now why dont we start the examination before Kurt chops our heads off? Huh?" The doctor directed the last question to Blaine who laughed out loud and got a glare from Kurt.
"Kurt you can put the gown on and lay down on the bed. Blaine you can be here if you want, for moral support." He said and stepped out the room to give them some privacy.
Kurt took his clothes off with Blaines help and put the gown on. He laid on the bed taking Blaines hand in his, feeling a little nervous.
"Nervous?" Blaine asked the obvious question.
"Like you need to ask. No one has ever seen me like this except you, Im kinda feeling exposed." Kurt squeezed his hand, needing to feel like he is with him.
"Kurt, he is a gynecologist. He sees these things every day. You dont need to worry." Blaine told him with a reassuring smile in the end and kissed his forehead. The doctor came in minutes later bringing the sonogram machine too but left it a few feet away from the bed.
"Okay, now, normally in carriers, the canal should be there before the 7th month is complete and you are almost a week over the 7th month so, it should be there, but if its not there, it´s nothing to worry about. Yes the natural birth is the best way but even if you need a C-section there is nothing wrong with that. So now Im just gonna check you. Close your eyes take a deep breath and open your legs whenever youre ready, okay?" The doctor explained patiently and ended with a smile.
Kurt closed his eyes, took a deep breath and prayed to the god he didnt believe in for the canal to be there, and he opened his legs.
The doctor lifted the gown up and looked exactly where he was supposed to look. Just above his entrance, there was the canal. He touched it and Kurt squirmed uncomfortably. He examined the canal to see if there is anything wrong with it.
"Now, the canal is there but I need to see if it is completely attached to the uterus, so Im going to push this little thing inside the canal and see with the camera on top if it is complete or not."
The camera was attached to a long metal straw like thing, and you could see on the monitor the things that the camera captured.
"Now Im just gonna push it in slowly, its gonna feel weird for a sec, but I guess we all know how that feels." He said with a wink in the end. It would have been very inappropriate for a doctor in this situation but they have become good friends since theyve met.
He pushed the metal inside the canal as he looked at the monitor, he pushed in a little bit more and saw the uterus.
"Yep, its complete, congratulation boys, I guess were gonna hear a lot of screaming." He told them and took the metal out, resulting a hissing sound from Kurt. He took his gloves off and pushed the tray with the dirty stuff away and pulled the sonogram to himself.
"Now, lets see how the baby girl is doing in there." He said as he squeezed the all to familiar coldness of a gel on Kurts stomach and he squirmed every time. He put the handle on his stomach and moved it around.
"Uhha right there, she has grown quite well guys, good job. Look at her nose; she has your nose Kurt." He said as he examined things with his doctor eye that Kurt and Blaine didnt really see.
"Ughee, I have the biggest nose." Kurt said a little annoyed.
"Oh stop it, I love your nose." Blaine said and kissed him on the nose.
"Thanks babe, you have to say that, cause Im carrying your baby and also that youd be sleeping on the couch if you dont otherwise" He said with a playful voice.
"OUR baby, and yes the couch is not very comfortable." He said thinking of the night when he had to sleep on the couch because he complained about Kurt being messy in the kitchen and he is the one who needs to clean it.
"Here." The doctor gave Kurt a tissue to clean his stomach with and Blaine helped him dress. Then they move to the other side of the room and sat down.
"Okay, so now we know that the baby is healthy and so is the father, and youre 7 months long and you can give natural birth to your daughter. Perfect. Now is the time for some warnings. When youre almost in the middle of the 9th month youll be experiencing cramps, which are very like the real contractions but they are just once or twice, it isnt continuous and it wont get closer together theyre called Braxton hicks contractions , labor contractions are continuous and they get closer and closer together until you have a contraction every 2 minutes. Next thing, your water may break before you have contractions and it may break when your contractions get closer and closer together. Now for men it is different because mostly they go into labour before the 9th month is complete, if you do dont freak out and if you dont then, good on you. Understood?"
"Yes, that was very detailed." Kurt said with wide eyes.
"Good, any questions?" The doctor asked kindly.
"Ummm, about the birth part.... How bad is it? I mean how bad is the pain?" Kurt asked almost ashamed of his question.
"Well, I havent experienced it myself but I know that pushing a baby out of your body is very painful. Though Im sure you can do it, you are brave man Kurt? I promise you can do it when the time is right. You also need to go to a class, its only 2 sessions and they talk about labor and natural birth for partners and what the partners can do for the one delivering the baby, okay? Its the first Monday and Tuesday next month, and you need to go. Any questions?" He said with a final smile.
Kurt looked at Blaine and back at the doctor.
"Nope." Kurt said.
"Get out of here then." The doctor said and opened the door for them and they stepped out, feeling very happy that they are gonna have an amazing baby girl born as naturally as possible.
