When they decided to re-open the show just for two weeks Kurt was enthusiastic, but it went sold out in a heartbeat. Jane found two tickets thanks to a friend, but she didn’t have any for Kurt. In the end though he was in luck.
She didn’t like the idea of Kurt going with his ex-boyfriend instead of Isaac, but he kept assuring her nothing happened between them. When they spent a couple of hours in the coffee shop Kurt enjoyed Blaine’s company.
Both of the two men were very excited to see a real Broadway show and Kurt found himself thinking about that night a lot.
He was laying on the couch of his apartment's living room. A soft March breeze coming from the open window and the white curtains were floating, dancing to a silent melody.
“Chicago” left Kurt thoughtful and a little upset. The evening went great, but he could not stop thinking how much he missed to perform.
When Kurt was in high school all he wanted was to be on a stage, with the lights on his face and the audience listening to him. But not everything went according to plan, and Kurt had to make a decision.
He liked his job, but the idea he couldn’t make his big dream come true made him nostalgic.
Kurt had this melody stuck in his head all day long. He closed his eyes humming the first notes and singing the words slowly.
“And that’s good. Isn’t it grand? Isn’t great? Isn’t swell?”
His right hand started swaying in the air following the orchestra in his head.
“Isn’t it fun? Isn’t it? But nothing stay…” Kurt sang louder this time.
It’s been a while since Kurt sang, really sang, and it felt so good.
“I said hi!” the front door slammed.
Kurt opened his eyes and stood up in a seat position.
“Isaac! When did you arrived?” Kurt couldn’t catch his breath for the fright and his head was spinning.
“I just did, but you didn’t hear me.” Isaac said irritated.
He put his bag with the cameras on the little wooden table next to the front door and threw his black jacket on the couch arm.
Kurt stood up ready to greet his boyfriend, but Isaac started walking the hallway to their bedroom, leaving Kurt there, confused.
“Isaac… What’s wrong?” but he didn’t answer.
Kurt put on the shoes he tossed next to the couch when he got home. He walked the hallway and looked in the bedroom.
Isaac was sitting on his side of the bed, staring at his feet.
“What’s wrong?” Kurt asked again.
Isaac kept gazing at his feet “Nothing… I don’t know. Perhaps I’m just a little stressed. Isaac’s shoulders.
The tension in Isaac made him more confused and worried.
“What’s happening, Kurt?” Isaac’s eyes were on Kurt’s hand resting on his lap. “It felt strange and uncomfortable.”
“What?”
“This. You and me. I barely see you anymore. And we live in the same house.” Isaac was almost yelling and Kurt began to be scared.
“But… hold on. You just arrived, you almost ignored me and now you’re telling me you feel uncomfortable?”
At this point Kurt was more the confused. Isaac stood up and walked out of the room.
“What are you doing?” Kurt yelled getting up.
“I don’t know! I can’t even wander in my house?” Isaac was screaming and Kurt was in front of him paralyzed with his eyes open.
Kurt knew that when Isaac was under pressure or worried about something he we was unbearable, but this was absurd.
“Okay, calm down. Did I miss something?”
“I don’t know…” Isaac replied staring at Kurt. His eyes were full of frustration but also fear.
Isaac started walking down the hallway. His steps echoed in the silent apartment and hit right in Kurt’s mind.
Kurt stayed in front of the bedroom, trying to focus, to understand the situation. He didn’t know what to do. Isaac wasn’t angry, not really. He was tired, sad, worried and angry. Kurt knew it, and all this emotions were clouding his judgement even more. He’s never seen Isaac like that.
Kurt followed his boyfriend and he found him on the couch, staring in front of him, at nothing.
“Isaac, something’s wrong, but you have to help me…” Kurt said.
Isaac moved his gaze to the window and he hummed trying to find the right words.
“It’s like you’re not the same…” Isaac finally said “I understand you’re really busy at work right now, I am too, and maybe this is the point…”
“This is a very stressful moment in the fashion trade, we both know that. But we’ve been through this before…”
“No… this time is different.” Isaac said finally looking at Kurt “You’re never home and even when you’re here, you are not with me. You’re distant, Kurt.”
“Okay… I don’t understand.”
“Me neither…” Isaac said. His face was hard now, Kurt could see the anger rising in his boyfriend.
“I don’t know what you want me to do.” Kurt was losing control, he didn’t like this situation.
“Where are you, Kurt? When we’re together, when we talk, even when we make love, your mind is somewhere else…”
“What are you saying? I know, I’ve been busy and tired like you said an-…”
“Do you love me?” It was just a whisper Kurt thought he heard.
“What?”
“Do you still love me?” Isaac repeated louder.
Those words hit Kurt in his head. The room seemed spinning and he had to keep the balance by grabbing hold of the bookshelf.
“How can you ask me something like that…” Kurt said.
He felt hurt and he couldn’t even look at Isaac in the eyes.
Isaac stayed there on the couch without saying anything and Kurt could feel his gaze on him.
Outside the sun was going down and the room was getting darker, but none of the two men could move, none of them could even mind.
Kurt wanted to leave, he wanted to say something though, but his throat was close and his mind unable to form any word.
As Kurt managed to move his first step to the hallway, Isaac stood up.
“I’m sorry…” Isaac said. Kurt stopped, trying to breathe normally again. “I really am. I was just confused.”
Kurt sat on the couch with his eyes lost.
“Please, say som-…”
“Of course I love you. Is this what you want me to say?” Kurt was looking directly at Isaac waiting for an answer he didn’t hope to get.
Isaac sat down next to him and hold him tight. “I love you too.”
This time Kurt was the one who tensed, he was still shocked and confused about what just happened.
Every cell in his body wanted to stay away from Isaac, he could stand the feeling of his boyfreind’s breath on his neck.
When Isaac loose his grip, Kurt stood up
“You’re right, it’s strange…” They were looking each other in the eyes, speaking without using words.
Isaac was right, something changed and Kurt was trying to find out what. His boyfriend’s eyes were full of sadness and anger, but Kurt could just see one thing.
“Nothing…” Kurt whispered.
At that word Isaac sighed heavily, and got up from the couch.
“Fine.” Isaac took his jacket, walked out and slammed the front door behind him.
All the tension in Kurt’s body flew away with a simple breath. He went in the little kitchen and poured some water in a glass, but as soon as he sat down on the chair in front of the counter, he started feeling tensed again.
Kurt had his head on the wall trying to calm down.
Water couldn’t help, he needed something stronger. Suddenly his phone started ringing in his pocket.
Kurt really didn’t want to talk to Isaac again so he took the phone to decline the call.
It wasn’t Isaac, but Blaine.
“Hello?”
“Hi Kurt! I wanted to call you to thank you for ‘Chicago’. I really enjoyed it!”
Kurt couldn’t stop the words from his mouth.
“Do you have plans tonight?”
*
Kurt caught a cab to take him to Brooklyn where he and Blaine had decided to meet. Fortunately he had enough cash for such a long ride.
Blaine was already in front of the pub, swinging a small black umbrella in his hand. When Kurt got out of the cab it was drizzling. He walked through the sidewalk and Blaine was there, waiting for him smiling. Kurt just ignored him and got in the pub. Blaine knew something was wrong.
“I really don’t understand… He asked me if I love him!” Kurt mumbled after too many drinks.
At first he didn’t really want to talk, he just needed alcohol to try to forget what happened with Isaac.
But there wasn’t any at home and he didn’t like to go drinking by himself. So Blaine tried to break the silence asking questions, but Kurt kept nodding and drinking his gin tonic. Blaine gave up and moved his attention to the people in the pub.
It was too crowded for a Wednesday night, although Blaine was there too, thinking what he was really doing there and what he could do to make Kurt talk or at least make him feel better.
After a beer Kurt started telling Blaine what happened, and after another drink he was mumbling , but after two scotch shots he was almost yelling.
“What I have to do to make him trust me, uh? What I hav… shit!” the glass overturned and the beer fell on Blaine pants. “Oh, fuck! I’m sorry.”
“Don’t worry, it’s nothing.” Blaine said trying to dry him off with a napkin. “I just think you drank enough tonight…”
“No, I’m fine! I haven’t forgotten as I wished… I can’t stop talking about Isaac…”
“Well, maybe it’s a way to find a solution.”
“A solution? For what? He thinks I don’t love him and…” Kurt closed his eyes trying to find the words that the alcohol removed from his brain “and he's probably right.”
“Why are you saying that?”
“Uhm… before I told him… no, wait, before he walked away he hugged me and when I looked in his eyes I could see nothing… I felt just uncomfortable.”
“Perhaps you felt hurt.”
“Maybe… I still don’t understand. He didn’t even call…” Kurt said looking at his phone screen. “You know what? I don’t care! I don’t want to talk to him.” And he turned his phone off.
“You two have to talk.”
“If he doesn’t care, I don’t either” Kurt’s voice was definitely loud.
“Okay, I think it’s time to leave.” Blaine said as he looked at the time.
Kurt seemed lost with his eyes stuck on his watch, trying to focus on the numbers.
“Yeah, yeah I guess it’s pretty late.”
Kurt put a hand in his pocket to take the wallet, but he couldn’t take it off. He stood up and the room started spinning all at once, forcing Kurt to sit again.
“Okay… I drank a little tonight” Kurt said opening his wallet; it was empty “What? Oh… I used all the cash to pay the cab…”
“Don’t worry. It’s on me this time. Why don’t you wait outside?” Blaine proposed as he stood up.
Kurt wanted to decline, to say he could pay with the card, but his mouth refused to let a single word out. He stood up and tried to adjust his balance. To arrive at the door was a real challenge for Kurt; he couldn’t feel the floor under his feet and the customers filling the pub didn’t help.
The cold glass under his hand made Kurt realize he reached the exit, but when he opened the door the cold air made him feel dizzy.
He felt something strong holding his shoulder and a comfortable warm by his side.
“Hey, easy Kurt!” Blaine held him before Kurt could hit a brick wall.
Kurt turned to the warm feeling to find Blaine smiling at him. His arm was around Blaine’s waist under his open leather jacket.
He put his hand on Blaine’s shoulder an breathed deeply. His cologne made Kurt feel safe, but a little nauseous, and suddenly his heart started racing. Blaine was smiling and his cheeks showed that Kurt was not the only one who drank too much that night.
“Okay… let’s call you a cab.” Blaine said when they arrived at the corner of the street. Kurt didn’t even realize they were walking.
“No… I don’t have money” Kurt mumbled.
Blaine looked into his wallet “And I used the cash to pay the bill…” he said. “Well, your other option is the subway…”
“mmh… Where are we?”
Blaine realized Kurt couldn't even even walk straight, he would sleep in a train until morning. “Or…”
“Where do you live?” Kurt asked looking around.
“Uhm…not so far from here” Blaine said studying the streets.
“Good! Let’s go!” Kurt said running with a brand new energy.
“Kurt, stop! It’s the wrong way!” Blaine reached Kurt and held the other man trying to stop him.
Kurt started laughing and, driven by the alcohol in his brain, he thrown himself in Blaine’s arm. Blaine laughed back when Kurt’s weight made him almost lost his balance.
“If we fall I don’t think we’ll be able to get up.” Blaine said hugging Kurt.
“Then you’d better hold me tight” Kurt felt good in Blaine’s arms. Not only his head stopped spinning, but he finally forgot about Isaac and everything bad that happened that night. He knew that if Blaine left him, he’d feel sick.
The city was sleeping and a little step after another, Kurt and Blaine arrived at Blaine’s building.
Kurt couldn’t stay away from Blaine, even when they get into the elevator, Kurt put his head on Blaine’s shoulder.
Blaine pushed the button with a black “6” on it, and when the lift went, Kurt jumped on his feet losing his balance. Blaine was ready with his arms to catch him and the two men’s faces were so close Kurt could taste Blaine’s breath on his tongue. That breeze of alcohol and mint made Kurt’s mind go completely blank.
Kurt let his lips fall on Blaine’s mouth, closing his eyes to feel the electricity that invaded his body to that simple touch.
Blaine didn’t move a muscle, his eyes were wide open and he kept his hand on Kurt’s shoulder.
When Kurt broke the kiss to breath, Blaine’s glance was on him. The elevator’s doors opened on the hallway of the sixth floor.
“I’d better put you in bed.” Blaine said breathing hard.
Kurt missed the warmth that his lips gave him, and those last words made him feel excited and full of energy.
As Blaine step out of the elevator, Kurt followed him trying to stand as close as possible to the other man.
The front door of Blaine’s apartment was the perfect pretext for Kurt to put his arms around Blaine’s waist and his nose and hot cheek on the back of his neck.
“Kurt, come on. We’re almost home.” Blaine whispered trying to open the door.
“I know, but I really can’t wait” Kurt rub his jeans on Blaine’s ass to let him feel his erection trough the denim.
Blaine tensed at the touch and he tried to keep the distance opening the door and getting in the apartment.
“Kurt, calm down. You’re drunk.”
As Kurt was in the little hallway, he slammed the door shut and thrown himself in Blaine’s arms.
Blaine had his back on the wall and his mouth was attacked by Kurt’s lips who was kissing him fiercely, but it wasn’t so hard to push him away.
“You can sleep on the couch. I'll get a pillow and a blanket for you, and tomorrow you’re going to feel better.” Blaine said pointing at the living room and he disappeared behind a door.
Kurt was leaning on the living room door. He couldn’t remember what Blaine just said seconds before, he wasn’t even sure if just a few seconds had passed or if it had been hours. The only thing he knew was that his erection was growing in his pants and Blaine was there next door.
Kurt took off his jacket, threw it on the floor and followed Behind the door. He was sitting on the bed, wearing just a cotton tank top and his briefs, breathing heavily with the head in his hands.
When Kurt came in, Blaine looked up at him with watering eyes and red cheeks.
At that vision Kurt couldn’t take it anymore. He closed the gap between them just with a long step and he threw himself on Blaine’s lap taking his face with both hands. Kurt closed his eyes and captured Blaine’s lips with his mouth open.
“Kur-… stop…” Blaine was trying to stop him and Kurt broke the kiss. “You don’t know what you’re doing.” Blaine finally said.
“Sshh! My father could hear us.” Kurt said laughing. He moved his hand through and put a soft wet kiss on his lips. “Let it go…” Kurt whispered, “I know you want it.”
Kurt looked down to see Blaine’s erection in his briefs. His eyes went wide and he unbuttoned his jeans, took Blaine’s top away and returned to suck his upper lip.
Blaine couldn’t move as Kurt's body was pushing him down on the mattress, but when he felt Kurt’s cock through the fabric of his underwear, he completely lost his mind. He closed his eyes and let his body work for him. Suddenly his hands were on Kurt’s ass trying to remove his pants. Kurt smiled on Blaine’s lips before he moved apart just to toss his jeans away.
Blaine was still with his eyes closed, but Kurt could understand from his breath that Blaine was desperate for friction; so he rocked his hips down and both of them moaned with pleasure.
Kurt was downright lost, his head was spinning faster and faster and the only thing his body could feel was the throbbing blood in his cock. He didn’t even realized that his lips reached Blaine’s neck, leaving red marks on his skin with his teeth.
The warm that their bodies produced was unbearable and Kurt became aware that his briefs were gone; the two of them were totally naked now. The view of Blaine’s cock on his stomach drove Kurt crazy, he got down and caressed Blaine’s warm ear with his soft lips. “I have to fuck you…” Kurt mumbled “right now…”
Kurt kissed Blaine hard, like his lips could keep from falling. Their tongues met and that touch irradiated the most exiting warm in their bodies as Kurt kept moving his hips up and down, faster and desperate.
It was too much. Blaine realized he had totally lost control of the situation and he opened his eyes panicking.
“No… Kurt.” Blaine breathed putting a hand on the man’s shoulder trying to stop him.
But Kurt simply moved his lips to Blaine’s cheek bone lazily, breathing hard with his eyes closed. “I… am… so close…”
Those whispered words made Blaine’s hips rocked up and the warm taste of alcohol that his tongue met on Kurt’s lips was too much to handle.
Kurt felt Blaine tensing underneath him as his orgasm was getting through his body. His lips were on Blaine’s neck now and at that moment he felt the other man’s heart stop, or was it his own..
Kurt wasn’t able to perceive anything, either space or time, or his orgasm.
When he barely opened his eyes he could hear his heart starting to slow down.
There was a warm hand on his sweaty back, and under his ear a strange but very familiar heartbeat.
