Author's Notes: I'm sorry it took me so long to update, I've been busy and I've finally found a beta. Enjoy!
It was just past 7:00 in the morning when Kurt arrived at the atelier’s building with a coffee in his hand and a sleepy look on his face. He absolutely had to finish those sketches, and after he found out that his boss has changed her mind, Kurt had no ideas. So, Kurt came in early and even if he hated the idea of Isaac waking up without him by his side, he couldn’t risk being late for work.

All the desks in the office were empty and that tempted Kurt to lie down on the chairs and take a nap.
But his work came first. He sat down, took the material and started staring at the blank piece of paper in front of him. The new collection theme was “Clouds.” At first Kurt had liked the idea, but now his brain seemed to be floating in the fog.
He started drawing some simple lines with his pencil.

One hour later, his colleagues started to fill the office, and Kurt was on his third sketch and his second cup of coffee. He looked at the time and got frustrated: his boss would be there in almost thirty minutes and he hated his ideas!

“They all look the same.” Kurt whispered, rubbing his eyes.

After twenty minutes, Lois was there with her big expensive bag and sunglasses on her nose.

“Good morning Mrs. Parker.” Kurt said to his boss.

“Morning, Hummel.” And she closed her office door.

Kurt decided to have another cup of coffee; he wasn’t awake enough to face the day. As soon as he stood up, Lois got out of her office.

“Hummel! Can you bring your sketches to me?”

“Yes, Mrs. Parker.” Kurt replied nervously.

He took the papers and opened her door.

“Let me see. Woah! You look like crap!” Mrs. Parker said, looking at Kurt.

“I didn’t sleep well last night. I wanted to finish my work.”

“Yeah, we’d better hurry.” Lois replied, putting her glasses on.

She looked at Kurt’s sketches with attention, shaking her head every now and then. Kurt was getting nervous.

Five minutes of torture later, she raised her head and sighed. “Well, it’s not exactly what I had in mind, but they’re not so bad.”

“Okay.” Kurt replied, a little disappointed.

“The corset is fine but the skirt…” Lois took a pencil and started drawing on Kurt’s sketch “I’d prefer it a little more, I don’t know, swollen. Nothing I can’t adjust. Thank you, you can go.”

“Alright.” Kurt said as he turned around to get out of the office.

Kurt got back to his desk and laid his head down with his eyes closed.
He was tired, but relieved that his work wasn’t totally rubbish. He could relax a little.

Kurt turned his computer on to check his e-mail.

He had received a private message on facebook from Blaine. Kurt was surprised; they met the night before and Blaine had already tried to contact him.

“Good morning, Kurt! It was nice to see you yesterday. How about coffee?”

Kurt checked his agenda and he replied. “Good morning, Blaine. Sounds great! Today at 6:00?”

Kurt got back to his e-mails and replied to his father who was trying to get confident with technology, but he had a lot to learn.

Fifteen minutes later, Kurt saw Blaine’s answer.

“I have to work today, but tomorrow is my day off at the restaurant. I know a good place. I’ll send you the address.”

“Well, well, well. The cutie ex-boyfriend doesn’t waste time!”

“Oh god, Jane! You scared me!” Kurt said, breathing deeply. “Are you spying on me?”

“Absolutely not! But I was here and Blaine’s name was there and I have two eyes.”

“It’s nothing, by the way. We’re just two old friends.” Kurt said.

“Alright, come on, I need your help.” Jane said, taking Kurt’s hand and leading him away.

Kurt opened the coffee shop door at 5:50. He knew he was early, but his office wasn’t too far away, so he decided to wait for Blaine there.
Kurt took a table and started sipping his cappuccino.
The place was nice. It had little tables and wooden walls that reminded Kurt of Parisian cafs.

Blaine arrived and Kurt raised his hand so the other man could see him. Blaine waived his hand to Kurt and went to get his coffee.

“Hi, Kurt.” Blaine said, sitting at the table.

“Hi, Blaine! You were right, this place is peculiar.”

“I found it when I used to give piano lessons a block away from here.” Blaine said, adding sugar to his coffee. “So, I want to know everything! It’s been almost ten years!”

“Yeah, that’s crazy! Well, I worked at Vogue.com for four years. Then I spent a year in Paris just walking through that amazing city.” Kurt’s eyes were sparkling.

“Do you remember Wes?” Kurt nodded. “He lives in Paris now! He met a French girl and they’re going to get married.” Blaine said.

“That’s wonderful!” Kurt was really happy for him.
“I’m sorry, I interrupted you. Go on.”

“Then in Paris, I worked for a French fashion magazine, but all I had to do there was bring people coffee and I felt the desire to come back here. In New York, a friend of mine introduced me to this new fashion designer who had just opened her atelier and was looking for staff. I think that’s all.”

“Is it a famous atelier?” Blaine asked.

“Well, not yet. It’s new and to be honest her ideas are not that brilliant.” Kurt said, making a face. “At least I can pay the rent. Okay, your turn.”

“Wow, good resume. What can I say? After school, I moved to Boston with Wes where I took a sabbatical just to have fun and figure out what I really wanted to do. The next year I moved here to study piano at The New School. I graduated with the knowledge that my father thought it wasn’t a real degree.” Blaine sighed. He smiled, but he had a sad look in his eyes. “Then I started doing every kind of job: waiter, piano teacher for children. I’ve even worked at McDonald’s. As you saw last night, I currently work at ‘Night and Day’ as a waiter.”

“And singer.” Kurt added.

“And singer. It’s not what I had in mind, but the pay is good and I like it.” Blaine said, smiling.

“Well, you have to begin from the bottom to reach the top” Kurt said, taking his cup.

“Right.” Blaine said, laughing. “I saw on your facebook profile you have a boyfriend.” Blaine seemed a little uncomfortable, but he kept his smile on his face. “Tell me about him.”

“Oh, I just write it to calm him. I don’t like that everyone knows my business.”

“Okay, sorry. It was just to talk.” Blaine apologized.

“Oh, no. you’re not everyone.” Kurt said.

Blaine had his golden eyes fixed on Kurt. For a moment it seemed like time stopped and space was beyond what they
could see.

“His name is Isaac, he’s a photograph and we met at Vogue France three years ago. We’ve been living together for a year now and he’s okay.”

Blaine finished sipping his coffee. “Okay?” He asked.

“I don’t know how to describe him. I’m… He makes me very happy.” Kurt said, smiling.

“I’m glad to hear that.”

Kurt realized he made a mistake to talk about Isaac to Blaine. It’s always embarrassing, and sometimes hurtful, to talk about your current partner with an ex-boyfriend.
Kurt would change the subject, but he didn’t want to be rude.

“And you? Is there someone special in your life?” Kurt asked.

“Not at the moment. Last year I had a very kind and sweet person by my side, but it didn’t last.” Blaine explained.
He looked hurt and Kurt felt horrible. He didn’t know what to say. Way was Blaine so upset? Kurt didn’t dare to ask.

“Oh. I’m sorry.”

Blaine looked at Kurt. “It’s… it’s not your fault.” He smiled “It happens.”

“Yeah” Kurt agreed. “Listen, Blaine. About us… I kinda want to clarify the situation. It’s terrible to say that after almost ten years.”

“Kurt, there’s nothing to say, believe me. You were here with your life and your work and I was stuck in Lima with school and my family.” Blaine said, putting both his hands on the table. “It’s nobody’s fault. It’s just life. It goes on and so do we.”

“I know, but I should have called you at least, just to know you were fine. Instead I’ve kept thinking about myself. I’ve been selfish and I’m sorry.” Kurt said, looking the other man in the eyes.

“Don’t be. I haven’t called you either. We could say we’re both to blame.” Blaine said smiling. “We’re fine.”

“Alright. Thank you.” Kurt whispered.

Blaine smiled and he took his wallet.

“You have to taste their espresso.” Blaine said. “It’s on me.”

*

“Oh, Kurt.”

Isaac was moaning with every thrust .
Kurt was breathing heavily into his boyfriend’s hair, unable to move between the mattress and Isaac body.
They couldn’t see anything in the dark room; they could just feel each other and the heat.
Kurt was at the edge with his eyes closed and his mind empty.

“You’re so close.” Isaac breathed in Kurt’s ear. “Come on, Kurt…”

Hearing his name made Kurt lose it and he was coming over his stomach and Isaac’s chest.

After another two thrusts, the other man buried his face in Kurt’s neck and he screamed his name as he was coming.

Isaac remained there, on top of Kurt, breathing in his ear with Kurt’s arm on his back.

“Wow.” Isaac managed to say. “How could I live without you?”

Kurt smiled and kissed Isaac’s forehead without saying anything.

Isaac smiled back as he moved on the other side of the bed and pulled Kurt in his arms.

Kurt fell asleep next to the man he really loved.

*

“Hi, Kurt! It’s Jane.”

“Jane! Where are you? It’s almost 10:30!”

“I got a terrible flu. I can’t come to work today. I can barely move a finger.”

“I’m sorry. Do you want me to tell Lois?”

“No, I have already called her.”

Jane blew her nose and Kurt kept away the phone because of the noise.

“Sorry. Listen, I called to ask you a favor. You know that
‘Chicago’ revival that’s opening this week?”

“Yes of course”

“Well, I have two tickets for tomorrow night, but I can’t go in this state. So, would you help me find someone who might be interested?”

“Jane, you’re not funny at all.”

Jane laughed. “Alright! You can have the tickets.”

“I accept unwillingly. I do it just for you.” Kurt said, laughing with excitement.

“Thank you. I know it’s a sacrifice.”

“But, are you sure? Maybe you’ll feel better to go tomorrow.”

“No, I have an awful cough. I don’t want to annoy everyone.”

“Well, Jane. Thank you!”

“The tickets are in the drawer under my desk.”

“Thank you again. I’ll call you later.
Kurt hung up and took the two tickets.

There was just one problem - he didn’t know who would go with him to see the show.

Isaac didn’t like musical theater and the only other person who loves ‘Chicago’ like Kurt is Jane.

Then Kurt had an idea. It could be a little strange, but he couldn’t see any reason why he shouldn’t try.
He took his phone and looked for the only person Kurt could think of: Blaine.
