“What do you want now Anderson!” Kurt shouted, his voice breaking as he tried to swallow the sobs that had been convulsing his body moments before. “All you’ve done since you got here is given me crap. I don’t want you near me Anderson, don’t you get that!” he screamed now, unable to keep his anger and frustration under control.
“Blaine.” The slightly shorter boy said calmly.
Kurt blinked rapidly. “What?” he said looking slightly confused.
“My name is Blaine” he clarified.
“I know what your name is and frankly I do not care, just back off okay, I don’t want you near me” Kurt shouted again, pulling his back from the floor and pushing past Blaine and out of the door, retracing his steps through the school. It was only third period but Kurt didn’t care, he needed to be as far away from Blaine as fast as possible.
Kurt finally reached his car and breathed a sigh of relief; at least it was still locked today. He sat down heavily in the driver’s seat, throwing his bag into the foot well and led his head drop with a loud thud onto the steering wheel. His heart was racing, breath coming in broken gasps and the tears were streaming down his face. Kurt let out a scream, all of his frustration and anger and fear escaped in that scream. His body was shaking, convulsing, and his sobs echoed around the car.
All Kurt had left was his dignity and it seemed he didn’t even have that. He had shown his insecurities to Blaine, the arrogant leather clad by had seen Kurt cry. That was all he had held back and now it was gone. Nobody ever saw Kurt cry, he would wait until he was home, turn his iPod volume to the top and lie down and sob. But Blaine had found him at his weakest and now Kurt had nothing left, Blaine had seen inside of Kurt. Kurt hated himself for showing his weaknesses, his insecurities.
Kurt had no idea how long he sat there crying his heart out but his phone began to buzz in his pocket and he pulled it out seeing Mercedes name flashing on the scream. Kurt tried to compose himself before clicking “answer call”, but his voice came out cracked.
“Hey Cadies” he answered, his voice even higher than usual.
“Where you at white boy, we are all the cafeteria, why weren’t you in third period” she asked sounding worried at the tone of Kurt's broken voice.
“I just, I didn’t feel well, just taking a nap in my car” was the best Kurt could come up with “I'm coming in now save me a seat” he added quickly before pressing the “end call” button and trying to adjust his appearance before getting out of the car.
His usually perfectly coiffed hair was falling into his face and his skin was blotchy and red. Kurt sighed as he always did when he was in over his head. Why did stupid Blaine stupid Anderson make him feel so messed up and broken down?
Kurt slung his bag over his shoulder, giving up on trying to make himself look any better, and trudged back across the parking lot and to the cafeteria. Kurt slid down onto the bench beside Mercedes looking down at his knees, hoping she wouldn’t ask him what was going on but he knew her too well to expect to get away with it.
“So what’s going on with you this week Kurt, you’ve been all over the place” Mercedes asked his quietly, Kurt was thankful she wasn’t going all drama diva on him right now because Kurt certainly didn’t want everyone seeing him broken up like this, thankfully most of the New Directions were too absorbed in their own conversations to take much notice of Kurt as he began to speak in a whisper to his best friend.
“It’s the new kid, Blaine Anderson” Kurt sucked in a breath, “he’s so hot right?” Mercedes squeaked until she saw the look on Kurt's face and allowed him to continue. “Cadies he’s killing me, I just can’t take any more of his snide comments and touching” Kurt practically spat on the last word.
No one knew what happened between himself and Karofsky last semester but Blaine on top of all that was too much to handle on his own anymore.
“He just won’t back off, I’ve told him and told him and he continues to be the same pain in the ass. I don’t know what he’s trying to do, make the only out gay kid even more uncomfortable, or whether it’s just a game of cat and mouse to him, I don’t know, I just want him to leave me alone” Kurt finished, the tears threatening to spill over once more as Mercedes pulled him into a hug.
“Don’t worry Kurt, we’ll sort something out somehow, I'm not letting this new kid ruin your life” she nodded with certainty in her eyes, Kurt could almost see her brain going into overdrive, trying to think of some way to fix the mess the new kid had caused. The bell rang for next period and Kurt swiftly picked up his bag once more as he headed to biology, wondering what Mercedes was planning.
Mercedes, Tina and Rachel headed to their next class together talking in hushed tones.
“This is more than we thought girls, Kurt doesn’t just have a crush on the guy but there is something else, whatever Kurt is going through isn’t just feelings for Blaine, I don’t even think he realises he likes Blaine because something else is going on too, he thinks Blaine is playing with him, and maybe he’s right, its clearly hurting Kurt and the guy just won’t stop. We need to do something” Mercedes informed the other two.
Rachel’s face lit up thoughtfully, “we need to confront him, all of us, I mean he’s got this bad boy reputation we don’t want one of us going in there alone, we should get all of New Directions to confront him, maybe get Puck to talk to him, he’s got that same reputation as Blaine, he might be able to get through to him being on the same level as him, you know?” she said thoughtfully, wondering how it could be possible, or if it would even work.
“It’s worth a try” Tina said nodding her head “I can talk to Mike and we can spread the news to the others and see if we can pull it off” she added.
Mercedes smiled and put her arms around the other two “great plan, lets aim to get everyone in on the plan by the end of the day” she with optimism. She never wanted anything to hurt Kurt, he was her best friend and Blaine was clearly hurting him, even if Kurt wasn’t letting on to the full picture yet.
