Blaine sighed and let a deep breath escape from his lungs as his arm shifted ever so slightly against the man’s lower waist, his fingers gripping Kurt’s a little more tightly as he settle himself more comfortably underneath the blanket and against the couch’s cushion. If he hadn’t been so emotionally distressed from before than he would have easily fallen asleep, his breath would have became deep and light with a potentially small smile on his face due to his current company and comfort. He had missed this, this feeling of having someone there, someone he cared about and knew that it was fairly mutual - to some degree at the very least. For technically knot knowing Kurt all that long or well he still managed to have more than just the normal friendly feelings towards the drama major - if that wasn’t readily apparent - and though it was difficult to not act too affectionate towards the other he still attempted to hold back those thoughts and words, and therefore not continue to push the actor, especially after he had implied they were only friends…or at least that was what it sounded like to him. And the fact that they were…well, cuddling - for lack of a better term - honestly didn’t seem that odd to the musician, even if they were nothing more than just friends. He used to do the same thing with James, holding him in the blonde boy’s bed on those nights when Blaine couldn’t stand being at home and all he wanted was to feel that comfort and care for someone who had the same emotion in return.
The musician couldn’t help but chuckle tiredly after the other yawned, though after a short while he settled down, letting his breath return to normal as a moment of silence between the two passed. “Hmm…” he murmured quietly, adjusting his arm around Kurt’s waist as a reminder that he was still there, holding his hand and resting into him comfortably. “How we watch it some other time? For now you can get some rest and I’ll explain the movie to you later.” Blaine sat up a little and leaned against Kurt’s body to reach over him and grab the remote from the coffee table. He stopped the movie and turned both the DVD player, as well as the television off, tossing the remote towards the other end of the couch at their feet. Blaine laid back down and squinted his eyes in the darkness, attempting to force them to adjust to the lack of light now that the television was off and the room was pitch black. The musician could barely make out the outline of the side of Kurt’s slender neck, and the delicate facade of slightly messy brunette strands of hair that were merely an inch away from his face. He could feel his hand start to move more slowly against Kurt’s waist, as though the other’s breathing had slowed anddeepenedto to the point of him most likely falling asleep.
The music major wished he could do the same, let his heavy thoughts and strong feelings go long long enough for him to drift off into a light slumber…but he knew that wasn’t going to happen, not anytime soon at least. He felt fingers loosen a little in his grasp, the slight shift of the man’s palm slipping from his, and Blaine instinctively held on that much tighter, not enough to wake the actor but enough to be sure that the familiar comfort wouldn’t leaving anytime soon…what am I doing? That was one hell of a question because honestly…what washe doing? A sudden wave of confusion rushed through his tired aching mind. Kurt made it fairly clear that we are just friends…and yet here they were cuddled up on the sofa holding each other’s hands like a lifeline that they couldn’t sanely survive without. He had thought of it several times before, the ways in which this whold friendship of theirs confused him to no end, because on one hand there had been numerous times when Kurt backed down and said things strictly in a platonic manner…but on the other hand they had kissed, cried in front of one another, opened up to their painful pasts, held hands constantly, gone on some sort of failed date, and here we are, holding one another together in each other’s sleep. Sleep…how great and foreign that seemed to him at an hour like this…how long had he been laying there just thinking. Gratefully - and maybe he could thank the release of certain thoughts for this sudden release of exhaustion - he could finally feel his eyes grow heavy and his mind turn blank…everything else that had once mattered or bothered him was now abandoned as sleep overtook him within seconds….
Twitching fingers, a shifting foot dragging along a cushioned surface before meeting some sort of blockade, a dull shade of darkened orange and red, a sharp intake of breath…. The musician breathed gently out through his nose and leaned his forehead forward until itrestedagainst the back of some pillow of gentle wispy hairs that tickled at his skin as his nose brushed up against a warm, soft surface. Blaine nuzzled his nose against the nape of Kurt’s neck, his breathing deep and light as he enjoyed the scent of what seemed like honey and fresh cucumbers…mixing quite nicely with the spring smell escaping from the actor’s hair. Slowly opening his eyes, he laid in silence for a moment as he took in his surroundings. There was a minimal amount of light entering the room through some window on the far side of the room, the sun was probably just beginning to rise in the sky as a slight chilled filled the space. He noted the small amount of frost clouding the very edges of the window as he huddled closer to the warm body in front of him. With a soft smile Blaine slipped his tongue over his lips to wet them strategically before taking a prolonged deep breath and moved his nose and mouth to the man’s hair, his lips barely parting as he sang softly, “Sunday morning rain is falling, steal some covers share some skin”. The musician lowered his head a little, placing a gentle kiss to the nape of the actor’s neck, his fingers tangling more prominently with the other’s as he continued against the back of his neck, “Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable, you twist to fit the mold that I am in”. He pulled his head back slightly, tightening his sleep-loosened grip around the drama major’s waist as he leaned somewhat over Kurt, reaching his lips to press against the side of his neck along sensitive soft skin, “But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do, and I would gladly hit the road, get up and go if I knew….” Blaine trailed further up his neck, his lips lingering along his jaw before kissing himtentatively, “…that someday it would lead me back to you”.
The actor could feel himself slipping into that ever so tempting lull of sleep, the calming slowness of everything, the heat of the body pressed against his own and just the utter sense of ease he was feeling. In all honesty, Kurt would never sleep like this. He would normally panic about everything, the closeness, the vulnerability, the complete intimacy… But this was Blaine. Blaine who pushed so many boundaries and yet Kurt just kept letting him in. It frightened him how he just couldn’t stop letting him in, how his feelings towards the other were so mixed and so raw and open that he couldn’t pin point which to follow. Yet this was also the Blaine who made him feel so safe, so human and understood, so cared for that he couldn’t help but take advantage of the comfortable clothes, the warmth of the comforter and the strong arm holding him close. He could hear the calming breaths of the musician behind him, a soft smile spreading across his lips as he sleepily stretched his long legs, curling his toes against Blaine’s ankles. Everything was just so sweet, what he’d imagine himself doing months into a relationship, not with someone he couldn’t quite call just a friend but wouldn’t let himself call anything else. But there he was falling asleep quickly in the arms of the musician not even flinching from the hold or how intimate the exchange was at all because it just felt entirely right for once, like he was meant to be there in this moment. And he was completely and utterly falling into that darkness and comfortableness washing over his exhausted body. His grip on Blaine’s hand relaxed as his muscles calmed and his focus was on absolutely nothing but how perfectly serene this moment was.
The next thing he knew, he was in the music room again sitting at the piano with his fingertips moving effortlessly across the keys until one key was blocked. He’d tried it again but it was already pressed down by a finger, which belonged to a familiar hand; now taking his hand and pulling it to those familiar lips. The light coming through the window was so bright, Kurt could only make out faint outlines of the silhoetted figure, but the warmth flowing through his body at the sweet gesture was overwhelming. The way his own body leant towards the other was automatic in response, like he had no worries about anything, that he just trusted everything would go right and he wouldn’t be pushed away like he had been so many times before. But then he turned back to the piano, continuing the melody he’d been playing, feeling the hot breath against his neck, the soft drag of skin against his own as he smiled into the playing. He was practically glowing under the intimate attention, the careful and tender gestures to which he was just taking, there was so freaking out or any panic over what they meant, what they were, because he was just so calm and happy to be there. And then he could hear a voice, so soft, murmured gently against his neck, the beautiful voice singing to him and causing his fingers to falter and stop against the keys, closing his eyes to full appreciate the sensations of the kisses, the whispered lyrics and the hand holding his so protectively, so lovingly, it made his heart swell.
He was conscious of both worlds, his dream world and the real world and he was partially confused as to why both felt the same. Warm like the sun filtering through the window and basking his musician in a soft orange glow as he turned his head slightly into the trail up his jaw. Both felt so close to the other that Kurt just couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Waking up in his bed never felt like this at all, it had always been cold and alone with the obnoxious snores of his room mate across the room and his scripts and books scattered around him. But here… He gripped the covers around him, pulling on the hand wrapped around him as he burrowed into the warmth, leaning into the kisses, every little touch and every little movement before shifting himself, turning slowly with a smile fixed on his lips. He stretched out his legs and shoulders again, resting his head by burrowing it into Blaine’s neck with a protesting groan. He didn’t want to wake up, to get rid of the beautiful dream at all, he didn’t want to wake up in his bed and be so disappointed. But then he felt his lips hitting warm skin, the gentle pressure there as he kissed down against it, following it up until he got to the chin and pulled back. The actor’s eyes fluttered open, his eyebrows furrowing as they focused, before relaxing again with his smile. Thei foreheads were pressed together, their bodies close and tangled together and their lips so close that it took just a small movement, a slight lean before they touched gently, tentatively and full of just something that Kurt couldn’t put his finger on as his eyes fluttered closed again, remaining like that even as he pulled away with a soft sigh.
