Blaine’s cheeks flushed the slightest bit, his hands feeling cold all of a sudden as he could sense that stinging sensation in the ball of his eyes once more. He quickly lowered his gaze to their hands, that comfort faltering momentarily as another wave of emotions washed over him, painful thoughts lingering like sand that somehow managed to get everywhere and pester one’s mind continuously without ever seeming to away. Glancing over at the side of the road ahead of them he tried to keep his cool, he had cried in front of Kurt enough to last a lifetime, and he wasn’t going to go through that level of emotional pain again. ‘Your friend’…what am I supposed to say to that? Blaine shifted where he was in the trunk of his Jeep, not exactly sure how to respond to that, or even if he really should at all. But he could feel Kurt’s eyes on him, and he wondered why in the world he continued to let little things like that slip. He hadn’t once talked about James since the incident that Monday afternoon five years ago. He didn’t talk to his parents about, or any of the other people at school, even when uncaring yet curious questions were asked. Every once in awhile, when he’d go over to his house to see his parents, who had actually liked him - which was a new concept to the musician in all of it’s entirety - they’d somehow accidentally let his name slip and Blaine, as politely as he could, would excuse himself from the household before leaving promptly, not able to handle a single second of whatever conversation it was going to lead to.

“Yes…” he sighed, just giving in for the time being, it wasn’t like he was going to actually say much more then acknowledge his question and maybe give him the very minimum he needed to understand…but other then that he wasn’t going to say anything, at least not now. Blaine ran a couple barely visible shaking fingers through his hair once more, because honestly he had ran out of physical distractions, even if he was still holding tightly onto the actor’s hand. He managed a small smile to the best of his ability, “You’re right…even if I’m still really sorry about it”. The musician helped the drama major up and into his seat, and once he was in the driver’s side buckled up and received his answer from Kurt he pulled the Jeep onto the street and headed back towards the dorms. Blaine made himself comfortable on his side of the car, his elbow against the windowsill as he rested his cheek against his palm, slumped back in his seat in hopes that it would keep his mind off the limp hand that was sitting lonely against the other man’s seat. He wanted to…to hell with it. Sitting back up he switched his hands on the steering wheel, glancing over at Kurt for a short moment with the smallest hint of a smile before he took up his hand and intertwined their fingers, his smile still holding while he turned back to the road to focus on driving.

The ride back was quiet for the most part, and thankfully it didn’t seem awkward or uncomfortable or even all that long as Blaine sat in silence simply enjoying the feeling of Kurt’s hand cradled softly in his own. He pulled the Jeep into his usual parking spot and turned it off, taking a moment before he let the actor’s hand go, knowing that he’d be holding it soon enough anyways so there really wasn’t any reason to fret over the missing touch. So the musician slipped out of the car, closing the door behind him as he shuffled over to Kurt’s side and pried the passenger door open. Reaching a hand out to his friend with a light smile he helped him out and pushed the door shut once he was out. As they headed for the dorms Blaine reached his free hand up to loosen his tie all the way until it slipped out of its knot and he hung it off his shoulder carelessly. Making their way into the building the music major held onto the soft hand in his own, stopping once they approached his room and shuffled through his pockets with his tired fumbling fingers until he found his key. Eventually he managed to feel brass against his pinky as he pulled it out and opened the door a moment later, finally letting Kurt’s hand go as he walked inside and turned the lights on, wondering where in the world Finn was. But he just mentally shrugged off his curiosity as he kneeled in front of the television set and placed the original - and really the only decent - Die Hard disc into the DVD player. Blaine climbed back to his feet and glanced down at his apparel, wondering if he should change or not. But with a shrug of his shoulders he tossed his tie onto the bed and slipped his shoes off before he flopped down onto the couch, grabbing the remote control off the short table nearby. The musician turned in his seat to look at Kurt, smiling ever so slightly as he motioned him over and pat the space next to him on the couch.

Gaging Blaine’s reaction was difficult, obviously the musician was incredibly hurt by whatever had happened. That was plain as day, but he’d already gotten a confession of some sorts that Blaine had somewhat loved this boy in the past, so maybe it was heartbreak. Really, Kurt couldn’t exactly be sure as the the levels Blaine was feeling because as hurt as he’d been over his “loves” in the past, they’d been entirely unrequited and they weren’t going anywhere. There was no emotional attachment to them at all and that was that. He hadn’t built up anything other than his own imagination when it came to these boys, they walked out of his life and sure he was broken and humiliated but there was never that difficult moment where he felt like he was missing something. Even when he began his relationships in college, he’d never felt connected to anyone. In truth, that’s what frightened him about Blaine. He felt connected to him, he felt something and that was terrifying because he didn’t know what it was at all. Kurt gave a light smile of understanding. He’d already admitted a hell of a lot of things, he was allowed to hold back on some things and Kurt wasn’t one to push these sensitivities. He had plenty of his own little secrets and things he’d rather never were brought up again because they were far too raw. But he had a talent for brushing things under the carpet and completely making himself forget about them enough that it was like they’d never happened at all. Sure it was hypocritical of him saying that holding things back wasn’t a smart thing to do, but they were pushed so far from his mind they never really bothered him too much.

Kurt shook his head sharply again, a light clicking of his tongue. “I’m serious, Blaine. Nothing to be sorry about at all, please stop apologizing.” Relaxing back into the front passenger seat was a little bit more difficult than he thought it would be. He kept shifting ever so slightly, glancing over to Blaine to check he was okay, out over the road sighting any hazards, down to his hand in his lap, still chipping away at his thumb nail despite desperate attempts to prevent himself from doing so. He knew it was stupid to be fretting over this, worried for Blaine after seeing him completely break down and now just driving them back, but he couldn’t help himself. He was a worrier. Everything happened to worry him, he worried about people, what people thought of him, what would happen if this happened or if that happened. It was nice to feel the familiar warmth against his other hand, the slight look before their hands were together again. He was going to find it increasingly difficult to get away from those hands and the need to be holding one of them as much as possible. It was just so comfortable, relaxed him and his mind so much he didn’t exactly notice they were back until the car hummed to a stop and he looked out of the window quickly. He took in a calming breath as Blaine left the car, quickly pushing a smile onto his face as the door opened as he mouthed a quick thank you, undoing the seat belt and jumped out of the car quickly relaxing into the hold and brushing their arms together comfortably.

Stepping into the room, Kurt couldn’t help but look around, noting exactly what was Blaine’s and what wasn’t, which was fairly easy in all honesty. It was like seeing a whole other side to a person, seeing where they lived, because it was completely different and a lot more personal. He slowly slipped the jacket from his shoulders, loosing his tie a little, enough so he could undo the top button, undoing the cuff links too and pushing his sleeves up to his elbows. It was nice and warm in the room, enough that Kurt was starting to regret wearing a thick long sleeved dinner shirt and an undershirt, but fashion was fashion. Distracted by his thoughts about the little personalized parts of Blaine’s room, he hadn’t realized he was just standing there a little awkwardly with his jacket draped over his arm until he saw Blaine’s gesture. He placed the jacket down carefully enough so it wouldn’t be creased and sat down gingerly next to the musician with a slight eyebrow raise. “So what movie are you going to try to convert me to?” Kurt gave a light breathy laugh relaxing back against the back of the couch with a sigh. He hadn’t noticed how tense his back had been until he completely relaxed into the comfortable material and it was somewhat of a relief to finally be able to, although the concern was still slightly etched on his face as he glanced sideways to Blaine before he leant down and undid the laces of his shoes, sliding his feet out of the new patent dress shoes and shifting them out of the way. He may as well try to relax a little more because that was the only way this was going to work.
