Kurt brought the cup up to his lips, breathing in the comforting smell of the coffee before taking a tentative sip to check the temperature; the last thing he needed was to burn his tongue or throat. He let his eyes wander the cafe taking in the surroundings and making mental notes of comparison between where he worked and this establishment. Fair to say he’d rather spend a lot more time here than the small cramped shop he worked in, but really there weren’t too many differences - mostly it was just the atmosphere which was more pleasant and inviting, although that could have to do with the fact Kurt regularly worked in the evenings and often experienced dealing with drunken students demanding coffee. He quickly locked his phone, giving up entirely with the text since he wasn’t exactly taking it in and simply went to his next favourite past time of people watching out the window. In Lima this had been a little bit more difficult, after all there wasn’t much to stare at and wonder so people often caught on to him trying to mentally work out their life stories, but in New York no one really cared. The streets were too busy to really come up with a year long plan of what he thought people’s lives had been like and instead simply guessed where they were going, why they had their expressions; Kurt just liked to give everyone a role and after spending years as background characters, he’d come to appreciate the importance of everyone as much as possible.

His glasz eyes flickered to the direction of the door momentarily as it opened, but he was somewhat transfixed already with a street busker on the other side of the street packing away. The drama student turned his head sharply, feeling his tense neck muscles complain from the sudden movement, and just took in Blaine as he slid into the seat opposite him. He couldn’t help but let a smile weave its way over his lips, relaxing back a little into the back of his own seat. “Hey.” Kurt’s eyes flicked quickly over the other man’s outfit and he nodded ever so slightly in approval, he knew how to pick out a decent enough ensemble, he’d give him that; although his hair was a little too meticulously done up, giving that upper class feel about him. Overall he looked smart, like some classical leading man in a good old movie, handsome in fact but so was everyone these days and he wasn’t about to get infatuated over just some other guy with decent genes and an okay sense of dress; he’d learned that wasn’t the best of ideas a while back. ”This is a great little place, I might have to just avoid my work from now on.” Kurt gave a small laugh, locking his fingers around the cup to feel the radiated heat. After taking another long drink the brunet turned his attention fully to the music major, pushing his phone to the side of the table closest to the window. “So, how’re the magnificent masterpieces of songs coming along?”

Blaine noted the smile come across Kurt’s lips, which only made him smile brightly and look away from what certainly was one of the most radiant smiles he’d encountered. When he glanced back at him he wasn’t exactly sure, but he felt as though he was being glanced over, perhaps even judged for his appearance. Maybe he had dressed just a little too nicely, or not nicely enough? Though he wasn’t sure why he was even questioning himself, he never cared what people thought of him or how he looked. He glanced elsewhere and towards the window while raising the coffee cup to his lips to take a long sip from it, attempting to collect his thoughts in a systematic manner when he realized he still had his glasses on. Blaine slowly replaced his latte on the table and slipped the thin frames from his face, placing them on the table next to Kurt’s phone.

Blaine leaned casually back in his seat and returned his gaze towards the individual in front of him, “Yeah, it’s my favorite actually. The person who owns it is really nice and they even have pretty good coffee. Well latte’s at least, I don’t order much else. But if you ever leave work and head over here I’ll probably see you around, I spend a decent amount of time drinking coffee at this spot. I mean, I do other things here too though,” he added the last part with a slight smile. Blaine raised his eyebrow as Kurt drank his coffee, it was more of a habit then anything else. He sure did seem to enjoy it though, maybe he had a similar obsession with his favorite drink? He let out a low laugh, “Well I don’t know about masterpiece, but it’s coming along just fine. Lyrics are done, piano part is mostly done. Now all I need is my duet partner for it,” Blaine grinned foolishly before he took another sip of his latte.
