Oh, there was that stunning smile. Kurt had always been convinced that attractive people always had incredibly stunning smiles, because after all the world clearly just wanted to make unfortunate people incredibly self conscious and feel worse when hey looked in pain whenever they let themselves smile effortlessly. However, he could definitely feel his lips twitch involuntarily into a matching grin due to the completely irresistible smile on the man next to him. Licking his lips thoughtfully, Kurt hummed in agreement, hitting his thighs lightly as he stood up from the stool and looked back down at Blaine. “It was, you have a great voice and you can really play guitar.” The softness of his voice and the sincerity of it almost shocked him himself, he wasn’t completely sure where that had come from. It wasn’t like he was never soft spoken or wasn’t ever completely sincere, but the level of it was different. He cleared his throat, walking back casually to sit on the stool that Blaine had previously occupied. “So is your own stuff like that?” Kurt tilted his head lightly, raising one chestnut eyebrow carefully and ever so slightly, just enough for that signature questioning and encouraging look on his face.
Blaine crossed his arms on the table and leaned against it lightly as he looked back at Kurt, who seemed to be checking his already perfectly shaped hair, probably just make sure it stayed that way. Usually when he went out with a girl who spent as much time checking to make sure she looked half as good as Kurt did he’d find it almost as a turn-off…but then he realized how many things were wrong with that thought. First of all, it wasn’t like the current situation was similar to going out with a girl. No, of course not, he was simply just thinking of whether it, hypothetically, was similar, which it wasn’t in any case so he was being silly pondering such a thing. Second of all, when he thought Kurt looked good he meant it in the most friendly way possible. And why wouldn’t he think that? The man clearly took an insane amount of time spent doing just that, making sure he looked immaculate 24/7. So that thought wasn’t all that bad, at least that’s what he continuously told himself. But as he sat there watching the actor he couldn’t help but imagine how much time he actually spent on doing his hair in particular. Blaine normally spent maybe ten minutes tops on gelling his hair, running his fingers through it, and combing it into an easy-on-the-eyes sort of configuration. Though every now and then he’d let his curls run a little more wild then normal; but even they weren’t completely out of control. The only time his hair wasn’t touched was when he woke up in the morning and climbed out of bed. “I’d really appreciate that actually…” he said simply, though the thought of sitting by himself in room watching Rent wasn’t exactly the most pleasant, especially since he knew that his roommate would never agree to watching it with him. Blaine raised one of his hands to run through his hair, combing off to the side with his fingers while his other arm continued to lean against the table. His thoughts were still rampant though, even when Kurt mentioned something about “popping in” or something like that. He didn’t know why, but he felt like the only way he’d really enjoy Rent was if he actually watched it with someone who appreciated musicals and such. “Do you want to watch it with me?” he asked, noticing after a split second that he cut Kurt’s sentence off towards the end. Realizing that his outburst was a little rude he quickly apologized and tried to explain himself, “Sorry, I just thought that maybe you wouldn’t mind watching it with me. I mean, it is one of your favorites after all. Plus,” he smiled lightly as he continued, “You did mention how you never get away from work and school.” Blaine replaced his hand with the other on the table as he tilted his head slightly at Kurt in return. He felt his smile fade as the actor mentioned going to a musical with some girl; though he wasn’t sure why, he didn’t really know of any girls that would be even remotely interested in going to a Broadway musical in general, let alone with him. Blaine uncrossed his arms and leaned back into his seat as he glanced down and analyzed the texture of the wood in front of him.
Blaine could not even begin to describe the incredible smile that Kurt radiated with such ease, it was beyond amazing, and just watching the man look at him with that kind of beam made him blush the slightest bit as he turned to glance down at the guitar in his hands. He felt like strumming the chords again, just to make him feel more composed. Playing the guitar, singing, and sitting at the piano had the same sort of power over him as holding a cup of coffee did. They all gave him that courage that he needed when he couldn’t find it within himself. And Kurt had a way of challenging his bravery like nothing else. When he looked back up, he noticed the actor move from the bench and away from him towards his original stool. Maybe he had pushed it too far? He had always felt physically comfortable around people, some of his friends had told him he was almost too comfortable around others, which only made them feel uncomfortable. Maybe that’s what he had done to Kurt? He frowned the slightest bit so that it was barely visible if at all. “Thanks,” he said lightly as he watched him for a second, “You are…” he paused for a moment in an attempt to find the right word for it, but decided to not continue to push him, “…an amazing singer, honestly. But my stuff isn’t quite like that, it doesn’t sound nearly as good by myself,” he smiled shamelessly and looked back at his guitar again. “Most of my stuff that I write is a little different though, it’s usually just me singing while playing the guitar or the piano. It’s always a solo.” Blaine wanted to add how he wished they could sing together more because Kurt was really had an angelic voice, it was something he would not be able to get out of his head for awhile, and he knew that.
