Kurt clenched his jaw tightly as Blaine got up from the stool, he had half a mind to stretch out and stop him from sitting next to him so he could at least try to act normally; however, as much as people loved to make him out as some bitchy person, he wasn’t all that bad - it was only when he was frustrated that he resorted to sharpness and harsh remarks or stares. Shifting along the velvet feeling cushion of the stool, he flashed a very carefully fixed smile in Blaine’s direction and joined in as instructed with the repetition, thankful for the distraction of finding the right harmony and expressing the words carefully. He managed to pretend he was distracted by some imaginary lint on the dark jeans fabric, which was apparently ridiculously stubborn as Kurt worked at removing it, swallowing a little louder than normal. “My dear, we’re slow dancing in a burning room.” Kurt let his gaze and attention wander back to the guitar, shifting to allow some distance between him and Blaine whilst also making it much easier to watch the guitar being played exactly how it was meant to, whilst occasionally looking through his lashes at Blaine for brief moments.
Blaine kept his eyes softly on Kurt’s figure while he tended to his green shirt, or at least that’s the best way he could describe it. Maybe it was more of a yellowish-green? Or maybe not so much? He noted how meticulous the actor was about his appearance, and though Blaine had always enjoyed looking nice every now and then he wasn’t the type to be as particular about every little detail of article he was wearing. Sure he enjoyed matching his ridiculously large collection of slip-on vans, which came in far too many colors for him to really keep track of, with whatever clothing he had decided to wear for the day. And perhaps he was slightly conscientious of how sweater would tend to wrinkle in the front so he’d end up tugging on it enough to get the creases more straight. He never ever left his room without making sure the collar on whichever shirt he wore was folded over, he wasn’t so keen on the whole Jersey shore look with the popped collar. But now that he thought about it…maybe he was just a little mindful of the way he wore his clothing, not so that others would think highly of him but more so because he just enjoyed looking sharp. His hair on the other hand, well it had both it’s good days and bad; sometimes he’d end up putting gel in it and comb it to give him a slightly dapper look, but when he wasn’t too worried about it he’d just let it stay in it’s naturally curly state. Kurt’s hair on the other hand, well he couldn’t exactly think of the right word for it because immaculate and flawless didn’t seem to do his perfectly well-down brunette hair any justice. Blaine snapped out of his gaze and attempted to concentrate back on what the actor was saying, “So then, I need to see Rent, but preferably the movie. And if I don’t see Wicked you’ll most likely shun me, so I think I’ll make that the first thing I do,” he smiled at him, “But it would probably be best if I went with someone, you know, just in case I have the sudden urge to fall asleep or something. That way they nudge me in the shoulder or kick me leg to keep me awake,” he grinned the slightest bit, his playful and yet teasing tone all too amusing for his own well-being. “And don’t even worry, I promise you won’t intrude on anything, really. All I do is sit around and play the piano or the guitar. Sometimes I hang around and do homework in there too if I feel like it.”
Blaine smiled humbly and turned back to look down at his guitar while they sung together, which he had to admit sounded ten times better then anything he could have performed on his own or even with another girl from the music department. He slid his fingers up the neck of the guitar, letting his strumming slow down and the notes hold for a longer time as Kurt sang his last line. Blaine couldn’t help but smile in adoration at his stunning singing abilities, his voice was like nothing else he’d ever heard and it blended with his own in a way that he couldn’t even begin to describe. He hesitantly glanced up from the guitar to look over at Kurt, who seemed to be attempting to pull something from his jeans. Blaine kept his gaze on him, however, until Kurt’s eyes finally fell on his own and he smiled that genuinely rare smile of his, “Don’t you think we outta know by now?” he sang more softly then he had started off the song with. He could feel his breath slowly start to leave him as he finished the last lyric, “Don’t you think we should’ve learned somehow….” Blaine let his strumming fade until he finally stopped on a more soothing note, his eyes never really leaving Kurt. His lips gradually pulled into a beaming expression, “That was…” he stopped to clear his throat, “…nice”.
