To say Kurt Hummel was somewhat of a perfectionist and an over achiever was an understatement. For the past few nights he’d resigned himself to getting little sleep in order to pour over not only the scripts which were required for his mandatory classes but one for the extra class he’d signed up to alongside writing an essay or two about modern and classical theatre. Putting the cap back onto the highlighter, which was just about to run out by the rate he was using it, the brunet looked over to the clock on the wall before sighing loudly and pushing himself up from the safety of the sturdy pillow fortress he’d managed to build amidst all of the paper and stationary. He had half an hour, which was not nearly enough time in his books, to get ready and put on something less casual and more acceptable to be seen outside of the room. Running his fingers quickly through his hair to push it back into place where it had fallen, he made his way over to the small closet, which no longer closed both much to his dismay and pride, and flicked through the hangers pulling out a dark olive green jumper and some dark skinny jeans after much deliberation. Kurt had been looking for excuses to take a decent length of a break from reciting lines solo and memorising painfully long monologues so once Blaine had suggested coffee, Kurt couldn’t very well say no. Truthfully, despite having been in Tisch for a year already, Kurt hadn’t exactly bonded with a lot of his peers - he was quiet, focused on working rather than socialising and wasn’t exactly huge on the whole party scene either - so actually being invited to coffee was a rarity, even if it was one of his favourite past times.

Leaving a note on the inside of the door for his room mate, for no other reason other than to prove he did actually leave other than to go to classes or work, Kurt locked the door behind him and slid his phone into his pocket simultaneously whilst heading off in the direction of the coffee shop. Having worked in a coffee shop for a little over a year now, Kurt had expected to be sick of the smell and taste of the stuff, but he practically lived on it and with surviving on little sleep he was relying on it to get him through the next few busy weeks. It wasn’t an exactly long walk, just enough to stretch out the black books he hadn’t worn in months and long enough to give an excuse to why he was wearing the newest coat to his collection; unfortunately it was short enough that he’d managed to arrive a good few minutes earlier than their set time and so having ordered his coffee he took over one of the booths and stretched out, flicking through his phone for the electronic version of one of the plays he was currently studying to satisfy himself during the time. His fingers casually ran along the rim on the coffee cup, feeling the steam hit the tips occasionally when he got to close causing him to pull back, whilst he held his bottom lip in his teeth which only added to the pensive look on his face at that precise moment. Truthfully, he wasn’t even completely expecting Blaine to turn up, he wasn’t going to be crushed if he didn’t; he’d managed to get out of the claustrophobic room, get some fresh air, a good enough cup of coffee and a change of scenery which for all intensive purposes was a win in Kurt’s mind even if it would be nice to just take his mind off things by talking to someone.

Blaine sat cheerfully at the black grand piano that stood alone in one of the Music Department’s many side-rooms that were usually filled with instruments and all kinds of recording equipment like microphones and amps. This room, however, was empty except for the piano that stood in the middle of the room, and the only other thing in the seemingly large room for only having one instrument in it, was the man sitting at the bench in front of it. This room was Blaine’s favorite because it wasn’t cluttered, it was simple and clean, which is why nobody else really used it all. Plus, after the couple years he had been at Tisch everybody in the Music Department had grown accustomed to calling the room his just because he was always in it, even if he wasn’t playing the piano or sitting at it while writing down his music. Often he’d be found sitting on the floor with his back against one of the walls with his guitar in his lap and a half a dozen song ideas whizzing through his brain. But at this moment he was fingering through a couple music sheets, trying to remember which exactly was the one that he was looking for. He didn’t particularly like writing his music down because he could easily remember multiple songs’ lyrics and instrument parts without any difficulty whatsoever. It was almost more of a hassle to write it down then it was to just file it away in brain for later.

Blaine finally decided he’d get back to it later, or at least tomorrow if he was out for that long. His homework load was a little concerning for spending so much time with the grand piano, which he insisted on naming Adam, and yet he still managed to pull off a decently high GPA. Finally he pried himself away from the piano’s bench and stood to his feet while glancing around for his glasses that he had taken off for a couple minutes. He slipped the thin frames onto his face and left the room without a second glance, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to leave if he did, and let his music sheets stay on the piano stand for the time being because he knew nobody was actually going to look at it or read it or probably even step in the room. Making his way to his dorm room he realized how strange this must have been. He was meeting up with a sophomore he hadn’t really ever met but that he had seen around enough times to know his face. But even if it was strange, who cared? He had a couple really great friends who he spent his time with, but other then that their was no one because either he didn’t have the time for anyone else or he simply just didn’t care for anyone else. And that’s the way he liked it…well for the most part at least.

When Blaine reached his dorm room he quickly changed into a pair of dark blue jeans, a button-down shirt and his favorite v-neck sweater over it. He wasn’t even in his room for more then ten minutes, some of which was spent trying to maintain his somewhat gelled-over hair, before he was out and on his way towards the cafe down the street. Slipping his hands into his jean pockets he managed to edge his way through the entrance of the building with the red sign. It was easily his favorite cafe, and for more then one reason. He knew the woman that owned the shop extremely well what with performing a couple of his songs and some other fun tunes every Thursday night. So when he ordered his coffee from the slim individual behind the counter he gave her a kind smile, his latte already waiting for him. “Thanks Jen,” he said appreciatively before gripping the familiarly warm item in his hands and looked around for…Kurt. His smile brightened as he headed over towards the table and sat across from him, his smile still holding when he witnessed the look on Kurt’s face. The feeling of simply seeing this individual, who he didn’t even know all that well, made his thoughts cloud over into some complicated mixture of happiness and confusion. Nonetheless he gave him a kind smile, “Hey”.

i luv this story. but could you plz rearrange it. somtimes i found it so difficult to follow

Thanks! We appreciate the feedback. One question though, by rearrange it what exactly do you mean? -The Musician

I could really see myself getting into this story, but I'm noticing an awful lot of run-on sentences that are tricky to follow. Break up a few of them and it will flow a whole lot better!
