Kurt looked up with a confused expression at the velvet tone of the voice, raising an eyebrow slightly at the directness of the question. Admittedly, he’d been ready to chuckle to himself at how embarrassing it would be for this poor guy asking some girl seated near him out, but right now he was taken aback. All he could see was deep brown eyes, which ordinarily wouldn’t be all that interesting, admittedly, however they were looking straight at him with a somewhat hopeful smile, slightly cocked head. Kurt ran his teeth over his lip slightly in thought. It wasn’t as if he even knew this guy. Well that was a lie. He knew he was called Nick Taylor, knew he was incredible at stunts and had quite the passion for Shakespeare, which Kurt had truly never understood finding him bland and overrated as he did with most popular things. He’d spoken to him once when they just so happened to be sat together, although truthfully the conversation had been more of a dig at their lecture professor and lasted all of two minutes.
However, in that time Kurt had noted just how nice he smelled, the fact he was wearing a Raph Lauren shirt to an eight in the morning class, when most students had decided that if they would make any effort to get out of their pyjamas, sweats were the better option… He was attractive, yes, but he wasn’t looking for anything. Especially not after the disasterous evens of what happened the last time he’d said yes to that question. Thankfully, he was cut off from having to answer as Nick turned around to focus as the lecture started. However, Kurt was completely distracted the entire time, watching as Nick wrote his notes. The way he gripped the pen made Kurt smile with some fondness to how odd it truly was until he realised everyone else was getting up and proceeded to pack back up despite having used absolutely nothing. He’d have to beg for some notes off someone trustworthy at a later date and blame something like a migraine for his inability to write anything. Lying was once again something he truthfully had to thank his acting for because otherwise he was the worst liar in the world.
There was some skill in managing to be one of the first few students out of the lecture hall, managing to avoid answering Nick until the next class they had together or until he forgot; no one was that desperate to pursue him anyway. Although the prospect put a smile onto Kurt’s face, because there was nothing like feeling wanted. Running a tongue over his lip, he took a detour back to the dorms, picking up a new audition script and some lunch from the on campus cafe. Truthfully, Kurt was not expecting to see Nick leaning nonchalant against his door and it made the actor pause at the end of the corridor out of surprise, enough to alert the pursuer to flash a completely unfairly brilliant smile at him from down the corridor. Well, this was it, he had to walk forward and just get this over with. Walking up to his door, he placed the keys in the lock.
“You’re trying to play hard to get aren’t you?” Kurt turned his head to look at Nick who had an incredibly amused expression on his very pleasingly handsome face. Damn his good genes. The actor turned, opening his mouth to speak before he felt the press of a finger against his lips, causing him to frown. “I have a reservation at a beautiful restaurant tonight, I’m paying for whatever is ordered and I would love to have you as company, Kurt. And you can’t use homework as an excuse, it’s Friday. You can’t possibly have anything school related to do and unless you have plans already, please… Look I’m begging now…” And then he proceeded to drop to his knees, pouting and holding his hands pressed together completely begging. Kurt couldn’t help but flush pink in embarrassment, looking around the corridor to see that, thankfully for once, it was empty.
“If you get up off the hideously dirty floor, I’ll maybe consider it more.” Kurt whispered urgently, pulling him up with a short laugh. “I have an audition tonight, but I’m not quite looking forward to this instant coffee and overly processed food, if you’re willing to offer lunch and coffee instead?” It was almost heartstopping how dazzling Nick’s smile truly was and how infectious it was, especially with the clear message that Kurt had been the cause of it. He unlocked the door easily, opening it and dumping the things he was carrying just inside the door, ignoring the protests of his roommate. “How about you give me a few hours of your time? Skip your next class and let me take you out for something a lot better than a cafe lunch?” Kurt paused before smiling back. He’d never skipped any of his classes and had never planned on it, but how much harm could missing prop management be? He hooked his arm through Nick’s with a soft chuckle.
“Lead the way, Romeo.”
