Kurt was prepared to hear that Blaine had changed his mind, he was prepared to feel entirely embarrassed and humiliated if it meant that he was able to express the truth of his emotions. He was ready to perhaps lose everything just so he could get this off his mind. As much as he couldn’t imagine life without Blaine anymore, couldn’t imagine not being able to just crash with someone he felt completely himself around, had no guards up around, Kurt was willing to take the risk. He should have said it straight away, because he did care about Blaine a lot. He always smiled every time he was around the musician, always felt so much more like his old self around him - able to express what he wanted, able to just relax and stop thinking about his hectic life. It was nice to have someone like that, someone who took his mind of the fact he was working every possible piece of spare time he had to save up to see his dad for Christmas and fuel his life in general, not that he was expensive minus his somewhat obsession with incredibly expensive designer labels - but even then, there was ebay. But Blaine just took all those stresses and worries about life away with his charming smile, his sweet gestures, the feel of his fingertips brushing over Kurt’s palm. He had no idea why it had taken this long, even after Blaine had admitted his own feelings towards Kurt, but really, it should have been obvious. However, it was quite the oppostie - mainly because Kurt was too afraid of feeling that way again. He was frightened of the reprocussions of  falling for someone and giving them everything, of letting his emotions and feelings lay bare in front of him, willing thm to be battered and bruised and abused once more.

But here he was, feeling the warmth of Blaine’s hand radiate into his frozen fingers, until they were gone and he was sure this was it. Blaine was going to tell him it was too late at all. But then there was a tender, gentle press to his cheek and Kurt could do nothing but lean into it, pressing his cheek into the familiar perfectly fitting palm. And then it was like all time stopped just for that moment, the press of warm, familiar lips to his own. They weren’t desperate kisses, wanting to fill in time or meaningless at all - nothing had ever been meaningless when it came to Blaine. As much as he downplayed their dates, they were time spent with Blaine, with someone he cared about and they were dates. They weren’t just dinner. Dinner didn’t mean holding hands and being so wrapped up in eachother and falling asleep cuddled together. These were slow, tender, sweet, loving and entirely mutual kisses. They were wanted and gentle and Kurt couldn’t help but lean his body in further, to feel the warmth of Blaine’s body closer, slipping his arms around Blaine’s waist and smiling against his lips gently as he pulled away slightly. “Promise, I’ll never do anything to hurt you.” He whispered, the emotion clear in his voice as he kissed Blaine back deeper, pressing as close as he could before pulling back and pressing their foreheads together, letting his eyes flutter open so he could look at Blaine. “I love you.”

Blaine honestly had no idea that this was going to happen, not until Kurt had started to talking about all the things he really did love about him, and taking up his hand only made the mere prospect of the actor feeling the same way towards him that much more possible. He had never dealt well with emotional pain, sure he could handle being broken down and abused quite easily, but when it came to things that just couldn't be fixed with his hands or defensive retorts then he was at a complete and utter loss. He'd been there before, in maybe an all too familiar state as this one, but that had been months prior to ever meeting Kurt...and there was just something different about this man in front of him that radiated the potential for a certain happiness that he hadn't felt in years. It was hard to explain to himself, hell, it was hard to even really think about but he knew - as soon as the three words slipped from between his lips - that this was something worth holding onto with all his strength. Sure they'd only known each other for a couple months but Blaine had a feeling, it was nearly impossible to describe, that this connection between him and Kurt would be worth it...even if it ended poorly or if at some point the man just didn't have it in him to continue on with the music major...he knew he wouldn't let it fall apart in his hands, not this time.

There was an immeasurable peace and calm about getting so completely lost in the moment with Kurt like this, with his body pressed against him to share his warmth while his palms rested gently along his cool cheeks. Sure they had kissed once before, but that was followed by an apology for not being able to control himself, and at the time they were only good friends...but now, just before this entire situation even happened he knew - and he was pretty sure Kurt knew as well, even if he would have never admitted it - that there was something going on between of them that ran far deeper then just friends, which was why this kiss meant just a little more then the first one did. He could so easily feel the difference, but he also noticed the similarity in how Kurt kissed him back, really he had just missed the sensation as he smiled lightly once the actor had pulled away, "I believe you". Blaine easily lost his train of thought once more as he leaned in closer to deepen the kiss, his nose barely just brushing against Kurt's before he felt the disconnect once more and slowly let his eyes open as his forehead touched gently to the other's. He let out a small breathless chuckle, shaking his head just barely in disbelief, "I love you too".
