Author's Notes: Just a short chapter, there will be more soon!!
Kurt's birthday had passed and so had a couple of months so it was now nearing Christmas and the Hummel's were putting up their Christmas tree on the first weekend of December as it was Elizabeth's family tradition as a child and she wanted to continue it. Elizabeth baked shortbread cookies for her boys and they sang Christmas carols and put up the tree. Burt and Elizabeth had already bought Kurt's Christmas presents and Kurt had already made some for his parents but he had yet to make anything for Blaine and Nancy.

"Mummy-"Kurt started "Mummy, I don't know what to get Blaine for Christmas" Kurt confessed. Elizabeth just smiled and laughed picking up Kurt and sitting him on her lap.

"Do you have any ideas?"

"Ummm not really but all I know is that I want to make it because I made Rachel and 'Cedes something so I wanted to make Blaine something to"

"Ok, what do you think he would like?"

"I dunno, I thought you might be able to help me work it out"

"Honey, I'm sure whatever you make he will love because it's the thought that counts" Kurt looked at her puzzled.

"So it doesn't matter what it is? Only that I got him something?"

"Precisely" Kurt hoped off his mother's lap and ran to his room ideas filling his head.

Blaine was asking his mother what he should get for Kurt because he also wanted to get the perfect present for his best friend.

"Mum, what should I get Kurt for Christmas?"

"I'm not sure my darling boy but I'm sure whatever it is he will appreciate it; it's the thought that counts." Blaine sat wondering what that meant 'it's the thought that count'. So that even if Kurt didn't like what he got him he would pretend because it's that Blaine thought of him? He was so confused so he left his mother and went to his room. Blaine sat wondering what to get Kurt when he suddenly came up with what he thought was an awesome and thoughtful idea. Blaine then slept on it and told his mother of his idea in the morning hoping she would help him to get the present.

Blaine and Nancy spent their Christmas with the Hummel's because well let's face it they were practically family now and the Anderson's had no one else besides the Hummel's left.

It was Christmas day and Kurt awoke and ran into his parent's room and jumped on their bed.

"It's Christmas, it's Christmas" Kurt chanted at the top of his lungs.

"Kurt it's only 5:30" his father groaned. Burt turned to Elizabeth. "Sweetie, it's your fault he is such an early bird...now you deal with him." And with that he rolled over.

"Burt he's your son before 7am"

"And it's your fault that he's an early riser" Burt countered; Kurt still jumping and chanting.

"ok, ok, Kurt please stop jumping and shouting, if you do I will make you choc chip pancakes for breakfast" Kurt silenced instantly and ran and hugged his mum.

After breakfast Kurt was allowed to open his presents and also give his parents a present each. Kurt made his Dad a beer stubbie that said I love you Daddy on one side and had a big love heart with 'Love from Kurt' written in the centre on the other side. It was the cutest thing that Elizabeth had seen in her life and couldn't wait to open her present if it was as cute as that.

"Thanks kiddo, I love it!" Burt smiled at Kurt and picked him up into a big hug.

"You're welcome Daddy!"

Next was Elizabeth's present, she was so excited to see that her darling boy had made for her because she always knew that Kurt loved crafts and loved to hand make things for the people he cared for most. Elizabeth opened the large box and it had a ceramic mixing bowl in it and written on the side was 'This is for you Mummy to make your yummy cookies and pancakes in because I love them so much and I love you too Mummy!' and on the opposite side was the signature heart with 'Love from Kurt' written inside of it. Elizabeth thought it was adorable and she hugged and kissed her precious little boy.

After all of the presents were opened and the cleaning up of the gift paper commenced Elizabeth started on Christmas lunch.

It was now time for the Anderson's to arrive and for their gifts to be exchanged. Kurt was really excited to see what Blaine had gotten him and Blaine was just as (if not more) excited to see what Kurt had handmade for him. The gift opening commenced and Kurt gave Blaine his present first.

"Here you go Blaine, I hope you like it."

"I'm sure I will" Blaine ripped the paper off and was left with a small box which he opened and found a navy blue bauble inside with a red bow on top; written on the bauble was 'Kurt and Blaine' with the year inscribed underneath '2001' and on the back was Kurt's signature symbol but instead of a big love heart with 'Love from Kurt' in the centre; it was a golden snitch with ' Love from your best friend Kurt'. Blaine was shocked to see how well Kurt had done with his gift; he loved it!

"Oh my goodness, Thanks Kurt! I love it! This is so awesome, it even has a golden snitch on it!" Blaine shouted excitedly "Mum, can we hang this on our Christmas tree when we get home?" Kurt was embarrassed and he blushed glad that he did well with his present.

"Sure thing Honey" replied Nancy smiling so widely her face hurt.

"Well good because it took me ages and like 10 baubles to perfect it" Blaine ran over to Kurt and hugged him; then handed Kurt his present and Blaine was really nervous because he thought Kurt wouldn't like it. His present could never beat the one that Kurt had given to him; but it was the thought that count. Blaine had doubted himself because Kurt had loved the present that Blaine gave him. It was a pretty red scarf with a white capital 'K' stitched on and it had a lightning bolt to remind Kurt of Blaine; because Blaine was always the Harry Potter to Kurt's Ginny when they played wizards and witches. It also came with matching gloves; on one hand it had a K and the other hand had a B.

"Blaine, this is so cool! It has a lightning bolt and a K and B!" Kurt said looking at Blaine "Look Mummy, how awesome is this?"

"Very, aren't you going to say thank you to Blaine?" Kurt blushed and felt guilty for forgetting his manners. Kurt jumped up and ran over to Blaine embracing him in a hug and thanking him.

"Thanks so much Blaine this is the best present I have ever gotten"

They all continued to exchange gifts; Elizabeth and Burt got Blaine a present and also Nancy; just something small. Nancy also gave Kurt a present along with Burt and Elizabeth's present and also thanking them for being there when she had gone through a rough patch and also to Burt for putting his life in danger for her and her son. Everyone was in tears by the end of Nancy's speech and then they all ate a lovely lunch and sat in the lounge watching the Christmas day parade; eating Elizabeth's delicious shortbread biscuits, which was a Hummel tradition which Elizabeth had once again made up.

The Christmas period had flown past and it was now nearing the new year of 2002. Nancy was hoping for a better year and for her husband to be found and punished for what he had put her and Blaine through. Elizabeth was hoping for her and her extended family (Nancy and Blaine) to have a lovely year and to make more memories together. Burt was hoping to have a good time with his family and friends and also for the business at Hummel tires and lube to pick up because the extra money around would be greatly appreciated. Kurt and Blaine were just hoping for a good year having fun together and making new memories with their slightly not to the norm family.
