“Honey, what’s wrong? Are you in pain? Do you want me to call the Doctor?” Elizabeth was extremely worried because she had never seen her husband cry since Kurt was brought into the world.

“No, no I’m fine. Really.” Burt tried to calm himself so that he didn’t worry Elizabeth any longer.

“No you’re not” Elizabeth stated. “Don’t lie to me Burt, tell me what’s wrong” Burt looked to his wife and broke down again.

“Burt you are starting to worry me”

“I-It’s just this dream I had. It was really realistic and it scared the crap outta me” Burt confessed and Elizabeth’s gaze softened.

“What was it about?” Burt explained the dream where he saw Kurt and Blaine holding hands and laughing; looking happier than ever and then he told her the horrifying part that shook him to his core.

“Burt, sweetie I’m sure it was nothing but a dream. Although it is horrifying to think of me dying in only two years time” Elizabeth just sat there and thought about the dream that Burt had until Burt interrupted her train of thought.

“Where are the boys?”

“Oh they are with Nancy she is getting out of hospital today” Just as she had said that the boys came running in with Nancy walking slowly behind them.

“Speak of the little devils” Elizabeth announced.

Kurt and Blaine ran into the room in fits of laughter and when Kurt saw his Daddy awake he ran up to him and nearly knocked the air outta him.

“DADDYYYYYYYY” Kurt squealed; jumping onto the bed and onto Burt.

“I missed you so much Daddy!! Did you see my drawings? I helped to decorate your room” In all the fuss over the dream he hadn’t even noticed all of the cute drawings on the wall done by his son.

“Hey Kiddo, I missed you too and my room looks great, I love it”

Blaine just sat in the corner on his mum’s lap waiting to go home but he didn’t know if he wanted to after what had happened after all wasn’t your home meant to be the one place you felt safe from the world?

They all left the hospital soon after; minus Burt who had to stay another few days or so just as a precaution. Elizabeth invited Nancy to stay with them until the police had caught her ex husband who was on the run; just in case he came back trying to hurt them again.

A week later and Burt had been home for a few days; settling in just fine. Blaine and Nancy had moved into an apartment not too far from the Hummel residence after the police advised them not to go home until her ex husband was caught and put to trial.

It had been months since the incident and they all believed that John Anderson had skipped the country or lived in a remote country town in the Midwest, so just to be safe Nancy had sold the double story mansion and bought a smaller flat closer to the Hummel’s in Lima. Which Kurt and Blaine were happy about because now they could play all the time and Blaine even moved to Kurt’s school and they were practically inseparable. Life moved on and the dream and John incident were never discussed again.

It was now September and Kurt’s 8th birthday was coming up in a few weeks so he was preparing a sleepover and movie night with Blaine and inviting his two other best friends from his school; Mercedes and Rachel. They were both girls but they were the only ones who would talk to Kurt and Blaine as well as eat lunch with him even if the other girls would just laugh at them and say that boys had cooties. Mercedes and Rachel weren’t huge Harry Potter fans like he and Blaine were but they did love to sing and watch Disney movies like Kurt and Blaine so they had those two things as a common ground to their friendships.

It was now the day of Kurt’s birthday and his sleepover/movie night. Blaine, Mercedes and Rachel were told to arrive at 2pm so that they could have lots of time to watch movies before their lights out curfew which was 10pm (which is a lot later then Burt and Elizabeth wanted but it was Kurt’s birthday so it was an exception). Kurt was getting excited as it was not 1:45 which meant that there was only 15 minutes until they arrived and Kurt knew that Blaine was always early so that meant an even shorter wait until the fun began. Kurt was checking that all of the snacks were in place and next thing Kurt knew the door bell rang. Kurt jumped up to get the door so excited as to who it would be. When Kurt got to the door he pulled it open and it was Blaine! Blaine pulled Kurt into a big hug.

“Happy Birthday Kurt!” Blaine cheered happily “Now you are as old as I am” It turned out that Blaine was only 2 months older than Kurt. Which Blaine always reminded Kurt of when he didn’t get his way.

“Thanks Blaine” Kurt grinned “I’m so happy you could come”
Nancy stepped into the house and closed the door behind her. “Hi Kurt, Happy Birthday” She scooped him up into a hug.

Kurt giggled “ Thanks Mrs Anderson” Nancy looked to Kurt with her eyes squinted

“Kurt. What did I tell you about calling me Mrs Anderson?” Kurt had to stop and think for a minute.

“Oh, um, that it made you feels like Blaine’s Dad’s Mummy and you wanted me to call you Nancy” It dawned on Kurt.

“Oh sorry Mrs An-Nancy Kurt smiled at her sheepishly and she leant down and kissed his cheek. “Where’s your Mummy and Daddy?” Nancy asked.

“Umm in the lounge” Nancy walked leaving the two boys behind to go and play until Mercedes and Rachel arrived.

“So, do you want your present?” Blaine teased.
Kurt looked at Blaine and smirked “Yes please”

“Wait, I’ll be right back” Blaine ran into the lounge giggling like a crazy person and returned with a bag which was blue and said happy birthday with a card attached on the outside.

Kurt looked at the bag and then picked up the card because his Mummy said it was polite to open the card first even if you really wanted to see what the present was. Kurt started to carefully pull the card off the bag and then opened it. The card was handmade and had a picture of him and Blaine at the park, Kurt really liked the card and was happy Blaine put the time into making it for him. Kurt
turned to Blaine.

“Thanks Blaine, the card is really cool, did you make it yourself?”

“I did the drawings but my Mummy printed the picture and stuck it on for me” Blaine looked at Kurt weirdly. “Aren’t you going to open the present?” Kurt looked at Blaine.

“Oh yeah, Duh” Blaine giggled at Kurt. Kurt then began to open the bag inside he saw a box along with another package, Kurt opened the box first and found that it was Ginny’s wand. Kurt gasped and looked at Blaine with his mouth hanging open.

“Do you like it?” Blaine asked.

“Yes I love it. It’s Ginny’s wand now I don’t have to borrow your Ron wand when we play Harry Potter”

“I thought you might want Ginny’s wand because you always play her”

“Thanks so much Blaine”

“Aren’t you going to open the other present?” Blaine asked

“Ok, ok no need to rush” Kurt picked up the next present and opened it. It was a plastic tea set which was pink and had the Disney princesses on it. Kurt was once again speechless so he just tacked Blaine in a hug and thanked
him over and over.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!” Kurt yelled. Blaine just giggled at Kurt’s crazy behaviour and they were interrupted by the door bell.

Kurt and Blaine ran downstairs and Elizabeth was at the door talking to two men who were Rachel’s Daddies. Rachel got teased a lot for having two Daddies and Kurt, Blaine and Mercedes didn’t understand why but Kurt and Blaine thought it was cool that she had two Daddies who were really nice and loved her. Soon after Rachel came inside Mercedes arrived and they all ran into the basement where the tv and dvd player were set up along with two double bed air mattresses for them to sleep on. Kurt then opened
Rachel and Mercedes presents.

Kurt opened Rachel’s present first and the card was nice but not as good as Blaine’s had been. Rachel bought Kurt a mug with a huge star on it which had Kurt’s name inside the star and she got him a star lapel pin which he liked and he knew that he would put it on his vest when he next wore it. Kurt then proceeded in opening his present from Mercedes and she got him a very pretty scarf which was blue and Mercedes said that it matched his eyes; he absolutely loved the scarf and he wore it for the rest of the night. They watched lots of movies including the little mermaid, beauty and the beast, Mulan, Aladdin, Dumbo, Snow white and the seven dwarfs and of course Kurt’s favourite which always made him cry; Bambi. They all fell asleep on the couch and Elizabeth and Burt had picked them all up and tucked them into bed.

Kurt had awoken the next morning and was confused as to where he was, then he remembered falling asleep while watching Dumbo but he didn’t know how he ended up on a bed he remembered falling asleep on a couch. Kurt then heard the sheets next to him move and he turned around to find Blaine asleep next to him.

“G ‘morning Kurt”

“G ‘morning Blaine” Kurt replied. They both got up and went upstairs to find Elizabeth in the kitchen wide awake with a coffee by her side.

“Good morning kids, how do choc chip pancakes sound for breakfast?” Elizabeth asked way too cheerily considering it was only 8am. Elizabeth always was an early riser just like Kurt.

“Sounds good Mummy” Kurt replied.

“Kurt can you set the table for breakfast please and then go and wake your father up”

“Sure thing Mummy”

“Sounds yummy Mrs Hummel” Blaine said politely “I have never had choc chip pancakes before” Kurt was so surprised he dropped the fork he was holding in his hand and his jaw dropped wide open in a state of shock because Kurt loved choc chip pancakes his Mummy made the best ones ever.

“What?!” Kurt exclaimed quite loudly, his mouth still hanging wide open.

“Kurt close your mouth before you swallow a fly” Elizabeth scolded.

“My Mummy and I usually have toast or cereal for breakfast and if she makes pancakes she just makes her pancakes
plain and out of the shaker jug where you just add water.”

“Oh Blaine wait till you try my Mummy’s pancakes you will want them all the time!” Kurt Exclaimed again quite loudly. Suddenly the basement door opened to a bleary eyed Mercedes and a wide eyed Rachel.

“What’s all this noise?” Mercedes said quietly “It’s so loud.”

“Sorry ‘Cedes but Blaine has never had choc chip pancakes!”

“Oh hell to the no, white boy you have been missing out on so much especially Lizzie’s ones they are the best even better than my Mammas”

Mercedes was a very sassy person and even more so when she has just woken up and is tired. Blaine stared at her wide eyed and Elizabeth, Kurt and Rachel just laughed at Mercedes outburst and Blaine’s facial reaction.

Kurt woke up his Dad and they all ate the pancakes in silence with Blaine having a double helping because they were so delicious. After breakfast Blaine, Mercedes and Rachel left Kurt’s house and Kurt spent the rest of the day watching Bambi with his Mummy.
