"Mummy, can I go play now?" Blaine questioned eagerly hopping from foot to foot.
"Have you finished your lunch?" his mother asked from the study room.
"Ummmm...Maybe" Blaine said nervously hoping that his mother wouldn't check his plate before he left.
Nancy Anderson got up off the computer to check the plate of her son because he had a habit of not eating lunch, going out to play and then spoiling his dinner with a heavy afternoon snack.
"Blaine...You haven't finished" she scolded walking into the large dining room "You must finish before you go and play, we don't want you getting hungry outside and then spoiling your dinner"
"B- but Mummy!"
"No buts mister, finish your lunch or no play time for you!"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blaine eventually finished his lunch and headed towards the woods. While walking in the woods he was quietly humming a tune he had heard on the radio that morning, he couldn't quite remember the words or the song not even the singer but he knew the tune.
After walking for 10 minutes he suddenly stopped hearing the most beautiful voice a 6 year old had ever heard. He followed the sound of this voice and he hid behind a shrub so that he didn't disturb this lovely boy singing. After the mysterious boy had finished his song Blaine walked up behind him wanting to know his name. The young boy had very pale skin, chestnut coloured hair and bright blue eyes. He was sitting by a small stream on a small picnic blanket just listening to the water slowly trickle down stream.
"Hello there" Blaine said quietly trying not to scare the boy.
The young boy turned around very quickly almost startled by the sudden voice behind him and just stared at Blaine for a minute in an awkward silence before getting up and running out of the woods. Blaine called after the boy and chased him as fast as his little legs could take him but the mysterious boy was must faster than Blaine thought he would be.
Blaine sat for hours thinking about the other boy in the woods before it started getting darker and his mother came to find him.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blaine arrived home and his mother had already run his bath. He sat in the bath talking to his mother about the adventures he had had that day.
"So Blaine dear, how many dragons did you slay today?"
"None, I was just sitting and umm...thinking"
"Thinking?" Nancy questioned.
"Yeah, just thinking"
"What were you thinking about?" his mother asked curiously.
"A boy I saw today in the woods"
"A boy you saw?"
"He had a beautiful singing voice and pretty eyes"
"How old was he?"
"I think he was the same age as me" Blaine said excitedly. "But he left before I could ask his name" He said slightly saddened by this.
"Why did he leave?"
"I think he got scared when I came up behind him"
"Maybe he might be there tomorrow and you could ask his name" his mother attempting to make Blaine happier. "But you have to eat all of your food before going to play, that's the deal"
"Okay Mum" Blaine said downheartedly.
All he cared about was seeing this boy again. He didn't care about whether he was hungry or not. So the next day he scoffed down his lunch much to his mothers surprise and he ran to the woods once more.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was in the same spot as the day before but didn't hear the voice he just heard the trickling of the water. Blaine walked closer to the stream and sat down on a nearby log, he sat for a while hoping that the boy would be there singing at any given moment...but he was left there waiting until the sun was starting to set. So he went home hoping that he would be there another day...
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blaine arrived home and Nancy was working in the study. She looked at her son and she knew straight away that something was wrong. She assumed it had something to do with the boy that Blaine saw the day before but wasn't completely sure.
"Blaine honey, what's wrong?"
"Nothing mummy"
"Blaine...Don't lie to me, I know when something is wrong"
"Mummy, just leave me alone" Blaine ran off sobbing into his room and slammed the door.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nancy had gotten worried and quietly opened Blaine's door and popped her head inside. She found Blaine on his bed with his head in his pillow and she heard soft cries coming from him.
"Blaine honey, what is wrong?"
Blaine sniffled and looked at his mum "the boy with the pretty eyes wasn't there today"
His mother smiled. "Oh Blaine, I'm sure you will see him soon" his mother sighed when Blaine kept whimpering. "He might be there tomorrow" she said optimistically.
But he wasn't. Nor was he for the next week.
