Kurt was on his way back to his dorm after history lecture, AKA the most boring class ever, when his phone alerted him that he had received a new message.
It was a video message from Tina, and the caption read “Thought you’d want to see this ;)”
He unlocked the door to his room and unceremoniously dropped his bag on his desk. Flopping down on his bed, he pressed play.
Blaine was standing in the choir room. Behind him, the white board read “Country Week.”
Blaine closed his eyes and took a deep breath as the band began to play.
“This is for Kurt, of course,” he said, looking directly into the camera.
When I hear you stop and laugh out loud
When you're fallin' fast asleep
When you're in the middle of a crowd
When you're lyin' close to me
When I hear you softly say my name
When you're high and when you're low
When you don't need me to explain
'Cause you already know
When you smile that way
I know, every night and day
That's when I love you, when I need you
When I care about you
That's when I know without a doubt
That I can't live without you
Everyday I find another reason
Every season we go through
And every little thing you do
That's when I love you
When you're drivin' in your car
When you dance and sing to the radio
When you're walkin' underneath the stars
Anywhere and everywhere you go
When you're dressed up or you're dressed down
When you're talkin' on the phone
With a million people all around
Or when you're all alone
When you're near, or you're far
You're in my heart no matter where you are
That's when I love you, when I need you
When I care about you
That's when I know without a doubt
That I can't live without you
Everyday I find another reason
Every season we go through
And every little thing you do
That's when I love you
When the video ended, Kurt was laughing delightedly.
“What are you so happy about?” You’re never this happy on Thursday afternoon,” his roommate piped up from the other side of the room.
“AUSTIN!” Kurt nearly jumped out of his skin. “When did you get here? You scared the hell out of me!”
“Sorry, K,” Austin laughed. “I’ve been here like five minutes. I said hey when I walked in but you were totally engrossed in whatever you were watching.”
“My boyfriend sang me a song,” he explained, holding up his phone.
“That is adorable.”
“Yeah,” Kurt sighed dreamily.
Austin bit back a laugh, shaking his head. “Hey, loverboy, you interested in going out tonight? Amanda and I are going to Suite.”
“Hm? Oh, no thanks. I have a Skype date with Blaine.”
“Ah. Well, good thing I’m going out then, huh?” Austin winked.
“Oh, shut up,” Kurt blushed furiously. “And stop laughing at me! I don’t tease you and Amanda!”
“That’s cuz me and Amanda aren’t as cute as you and Blaine.”
“Truth!”
Kurt typed out a quick text of gratitude to Tina, then grabbed his stats book to begin working on the mountain of homework he had. And he pressed play on the video, just to hear Blaine’s voice again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
“Are you ever gonna get tired of that song?” Austin asked after the video played for the seventh time.
“The song, yes. Blaine’s voice, no.”
Austin slammed his book closed. “Well, I’m going to eat. Wanna come?”
“Whatcha getting?”
“Probably a sandwich from the Mess.”
“Sure, I’ll go.” Kurt hopped up and slipped on his shoes. “As long as I’m back by 7!”
“Hey, babe!” Blaine’s gorgeous smiling face appeared on the screen. Without fail, he took Kurt’s breath away every time he saw him.
Kurt didn’t reply right away, instead he stared at Blaine adoringly.
“Babe?”
“I love you,” Kurt sighed.
“I love you, too!”
“Tina sent me a video.”
“Did she?” Blaine smiled shyly.
“Thank you, Blaine. It really made my day. I’ve replayed it like twenty times.”
“He has!” Austin exclaimed, walking up behind Kurt to speak into the camera. “And it’s ridiculously annoying but weirdly endearing. Hey, Blaine!”
“Hey Austin, how are you?” Blaine laughed at the face Kurt pulled at his nosy roommate.
“Oh, you know, feeling a bit nauseous from the amount of adorable in this room right now.”
“Aren’t you leaving?” Kurt asked, shoving Austin out of the frame.
“Yes, yes. My darling Amanda awaits. See ya Blaine! Bye K!” He slammed the door behind him.
Kurt turned back to Blaine.
“Finally alone!”
