It wasn't huge, but it got blown out of proportion by egos and pride, so it felt like their world was crashing down. Blaine was being overdramatic and yelling and Kurt stormed away and didn't call later that night for their usual joint skin sloughing routine. Both tossed and turned restlessly that night, words they shouldn't have said replaying in their head and haunting them, guilt weighing heavy on their hearts.
But Kurt was still upset, maybe more so at himself than Blaine, so he avoided Blaine the next day. And Blaine knew, then, when Kurt didn't meet him at his locker with a kiss that morning, that he needed to swallow his pride and make the first move towards reprieve because the way his heart felt in that moment without Kurt was how he never wanted to feel again.
And he would tell Kurt, he decided, in glee club. So he tracked down Puck with a list of chords and waited.
And time passed slowly for Blaine, but all too soon he was standing in front of his friends, backed only by Puck lightly strumming his guitar. Blaine simply said, "This is for Kurt."
Wish enough, wise man'll tell you a lie
Window broke, torn up screens
Who'd have thought that you'd dream
Of a single tragic scene
I just wanna sing a song with you
I just want to take it off of you
Cause blue eyes, you are all that I need
Cause blue eyes, you're the sweet to my mean
Fess it up, dot on the palm of your hand
I can help you to stand
Saved it up for this dance
Tell me all the things you can
I just wanna sing a song with you
I just wanna be the one that's true
Cause blue eyes, you're the secret I keep
Blue eyes
All the lights on and you are alive
But you can't point the way to your heart
So sublime when the stars are aligned
But you don't know
You don't know the greatness you are
Cause blue eyes, you are destiny's scene
And blue eyes, I just wanna be the one
I just wanna sing a song with you
I just wanna get it on with you
Cause blue eyes, you're the secret I keep
And blue eyes, I just wanna sing a song with you
I just wanna sing a song with you
And when Blaine looked up and Kurt was standing, tears in his eyes, he knew they were ok. They would always be ok.
The room around them faded away when Kurt rushed into Blaine's open arms. "I'm sorry's" were whispered and "I love you's" were exchanged. Blaine wiped the tears from Kurt's eyes, and Kurt blushed when Blaine placed a quick kiss on his lips.
And in their long life together, it wasn't going to be their last fight. But forgiveness, they found, could be a beautiful, beautiful thing.
