Blaine woke with a start. Kurt was still asleep next to him and no sounds came from the baby monitor. He relaxed for only a moment, before realizing what day it was. His first day back to work. And school started in thirty minutes.
“FUCK!” he gasped, jumping out of bed and running for the bathroom. He only had fifteen minutes to get ready. After a lightning fast shower, he was rooting through the closet for an outfit when Olly or Owen’s cries sounded through the monitor. Kurt stirred slightly
“Babe can you get them this time?” Kurt mumbled sleepily.
Blaine tucked his green plaid button up into his dark blue slacks. “No, Kurt, you gotta do it today.”
Kurt grumbled and made no move to get up. The crying got louder, signaling both boys were now awake.
“KURT!”
Kurt sat up finally, rubbing his eyes. “Why can’t you...” Kurt trailed off when he saw Blaine running around like a chicken with his head cut off, trying to gel his hair while he packed his bag and brushed his teeth. “Oh, shit. School. You overslept.”
“I must have turned my alarm off. I don’t know but I have two minutes to get on the road if I want to get there on time.”
“Shit. I’m sorry, baby,” Kurt said rolling out of bed and hitting the bathroom.
“It’s alright. I just gotta go now. See you this evening,” Blaine rushed from the room before Kurt emerged from the bathroom.
Another cry from the monitor had Kurt stumbling down the hall, reaching for Olly.
“Good morning sweetie,” he cooed, bouncing the baby on his hip. “And good morning to you, too, honey.” He reached into Owen’s crib to tickle the little guy.
Suddenly, he heard his husband’s footsteps pounding through the house and down the hall.
Blaine appeared breathless in the doorway. “I forgot to kiss my boys goodbye,” he said reaching to lift Owen and placing a kiss to his forehead. He did the same to Olly, murmuring ‘I love yous’ to both of them.
He took Kurt’s face in his hands, placing a lingering kiss to his husband’s lips. “And I love you, daddy.”
Kurt grinned. “Love you, too. Now you gotta go sweetie!”
“I know!” Blaine yelled as he ran down the hallway.
Kurt turned back to Olly and Owen. “Now what do you want for breakfast, huh? Phew, smells like you need a new diaper first! Shh, don’t cry. I know you miss papa already. Me, too. But he’ll be home before you know it, I promise.”
He continued to talk to his boys cheerfully, grateful that he was able to take the time off from work to stay at home with them. Tomorrow he would make sure Blaine was up on time, so he could enjoy a cup of coffee and more than one kiss with his wonderful husband.
