Mercedes knocked on the door as soon as hes settled into his new office. Hed placed pictures of him and Rachel on the hard redwood of his desk and his degrees up on the wall, even though he knew hed have to make it more homey. He considered the possibility of having Kurt come and help him with it but his thoughts were jarred by the abrupt knock.

"Sorry to start you so early but weve got a patient that we need you to see." she stated. He stood up from his comfortable blue chair and followed her to the patients room where a small boy with big blue eyes, that reminded him of Kurts was sitting down on the standard hospital bed. Nurse Chang handed him the little boys chart and he began assessing his injuries, hoping for the best possible outcome for the little boy.

When he finished Mercedes and Mike, the two names hes managed to remember in his short time here gave him a pager and a pat on the back. He fell into his office chair and sighed with relief over the fact that the boy would be okay with the right treatment. His cell phone buzzed with a call from an unknown number, but picked it up hoping it wasnt a company trying to sell him something.

"Hey its Kurt hows the first day?" He smiled at the call and responded swiftly.

"Stressful, how was yours?"

Kurt made a hmm sound. "Excellent! Which is why I called. My boss love my article and Im getting published front page on the website so I want to go out,and drinking alone is just sad. So I wanted to know if youd be interested in going with me. Itll relieve some stress and let you explore the city." Kurt said quickly, rambling out his question. He smiled into the phone, he knew Kurt didnt have to provide reasoning to ask him to drinks but the way he said it made him giddy like a teenage girl.

"Sure what time?" Kurt filled him in on the details before hanging up to get some more work done.

When he arrived Kurt was sitting down nursing a drink hed never seen before. He like the bar, the lights were low and copper and the music was very similar to what he listened to. When Kurt saw in his eyes lit up and motioned towards him. He sat on the comfortable stool and leaned in his lips dangerously close to Kurts. "Congratulations on the article." he whispered.

Kurt blushed, his smooth pale skin suddenly turning a soft red. "Thank you Isabelle knows a good story when she sees one." He responded taking a drink from his glass. Pink lips curved around the rim of the cup,he watched him intently noticing the way the younger man moved, breathed."So Blaine, how long have you been a doctor?"

"Around seven years maybe? After the stint I did in the ER its all been a blur." Kurt let out a soft chuckle. "What about you? Have you been in journalism for a long time?"

He shook his head "I just started about a year ago, Id been in university and just graduated when I got the job for political journalism at the website." He smiled at his ambition.

"So youre what? 25? and youre hanging out with an old man like me?" Blaine asked his insecurity showing through his kind exterior.

"24,but thats besides the point. Your age doesnt matter and anyone who can even make slight contact with me in my writing mode deserves a drink and conversation." He replied taking hold of his hand and absent mindedly running his thumb over his knuckles. They were close, and he could feel Kurts breath on him. "Thats my favorite song!" Kurt gasped suddenly. "Come dance with me."

He couldnt say no the alluring man pulling him onto the slightly crowded dance floor. --Well, I am that empty glass that youre sipping on oh,I am that cigarette that youre quitting on-- Kurt boldly placed his hands on his hips and rocked to the slow beat. He was lost in the song whispering the lyrics in his ear. --I am your Graceland, oh youre my saving grace I swear-- he wrapped his arms around Kurt tangling them in each other in the melody.

They danced like that for the rest of the night, skin on skin, with each others heat mingling in between them. He held onto Kurt as they weaved through the stairs to the apartment Kurt was murmuring the lyrics to the song they first danced to when he unlocked the door to see a pissed off Rachel listening to the Wicked soundtrack.

"Where were you two?" She asked her face wrinkled into a frown.

"We were at a bar Rae. I called you but you were in rehearsals." Kurt responded tightening his hold on him. His words were slurred but the sincerity and conviction was still there.

She turned her harsh gaze from Kurt, staring him down. "Blaine, you came to New York to work not to get my best friend drunk! I cant believe you two! I dont think you should hang out anymore if this is how you come home!" She screeched before stopping off to her room.

They shared a small look of unspoken enjoyment before departing into their rooms.
