“Hey, are we gonna go to class?” he asked, his voice still deeper from the grogginess. All the energy Kurt could muster up was for a shake of the head. Blaine yawned. “Ok.” He leaned down lazily and kissed Kurt’s forehead, stroking the boy’s cheek with his hand. As he turns to leave, Kurt grabs his wrist.
“Stay with me.” Blaine gave a small smile and, without a word, walked around to the other side of the bed and lowered himself to the soft bed. Kurt rolled over, resting his head on Blaine’s shoulder and feeling Blaine’s arms move under his side and wrap around him. Kurt leaned more into Blaine’s body as Blaine’s hold on his grew tighter. Blaine rested his head on Kurt’s, and the two fell asleep tangled in each other’s arms.

They woke up later on to a banging on the door of their dorm room. They both groaned at the sudden, unwanted wake-up call. They tried to ignore it, but whoever it was happened to be a very patient person and stood outside their door, knocking continuously, for about ten minutes. Blaine eventually pulled himself off the bed, Kurt groaning at the loss, and went to open the door.
“Where have you been?!?!” Blaine winced at the unexpected loud noise.
“Coop, turn the volume down, please.”
“Well, hello to you too, sunshine.”
“I was asleep. Pardon me for forgetting my manners.”
“So you didn’t go to any classes today?”
“No, we couldn’t drag ourselves out of bed long enough. We were exhausted. Now what do you want?”
“I was coming to find out why my little brother didn’t attend my classes.” Cooper stated as he plopped himself on the couch. “So, where is my boy’s boy toy?”
“Asleep. Kinda like I would be if we weren’t so rudely interrupted.”
“Are you sure you would just be sleeping?” An exaggerated wink followed.
“Yes, Cooper, we would just be sleeping. God, his ex that he dated for a long time died yesterday. Despite what you may believe, this is not the best time to make a move.” Blaine tried to keep his voice down to not upset Kurt. Thankfully, Cooper followed his example.
“Are you dumb? This is a good time! He’s vulnerable!” Blaine looked at him, disgusted.
“See, Cooper, now this is why you don’t have a girlfriend. I’m not about to completely take advantage of him. Not after what he’s been through.”
“Oh, yeah, forgot about that.”
“And somehow, you’re the teacher.” A groggy Kurt stumbled out of his bedroom, wincing at the bright light in the room. “Hey. You want something to eat?”
“Yeah, I’ll take a stack of pancakes, some bacon, and a tall glass of slow gin and orange juice.” Blaine glared at his brother, grinning on the couch, but didn’t say a word.
“Kurt, do you want something to eat?”
“Just some cereal, if you don’t mind. And coffee. Please, coffee.” Blaine walked over to their kitchen and started the coffee pot first, then opened the cupboard above him.
“What kind of cereal?”
“Lucky Charms, if there’s any left. I don’t remember if I ate it all yet or not.”
“No, its still here.” He took out the very colorful box and poured what was left of it into a bowl. He took out the milk and poured some into the bowl, causing the cereal to rise. He got out a spoon and took the bowl to Kurt. “Coffee’ll be ready in a minute. Do you want some coffee too?” He turned to Cooper.
“Always with the prep school manners. Sure.”
“May I remind you that you went here too.”
“Yes, but ask any of my classmates, I was the least prep-schooly out of everyone.”
“Prep-schooly? And you teach English?”
“Yep. Because God knows English speaking people make up their own words. Hence, it is English.”
“I move to make American a separate language, in that case.”
“Hey, you make up words too! As do the English! I mean, what the hell is ‘blimey’?”
“Blimey, in England, means the same as ‘holy shit’ to us.”
“So why can’t they just say that?” Blaine sighed, giving up. How Cooper got a degree in English, he would never know. Despite his confusion with his brother’s education, he walked himself over to the now full coffee pot and took three mugs out of the cupboard. He heard Cooper turn on the TV and wondered how exactly he came about taking care of his older brother. Nonetheless, he brought out three full mugs of coffee, sugar, and creamer. “Damn, Blaine, you are just the perfect little housewife, aren’t you?” Blaine smiled a little despite himself, and despite the sudden urge to smack his brother over the head.

“Here it is!”
“Kurt, are you sure you should be looking at that? I mean, its not exactly something that, considering how you reacted…”
“I’m fine, Blaine. I promise.” Blaine, unconvinced as he was, let the subject drop and went over to look at what Kurt had found. David’s obituary. He knew that Kurt wanted to attend the funeral, but again, he wasn’t sure if that was a good idea. Of course if Kurt would refuse to not go, Blaine would go with him.
The picture they used was a nice one, what he assumed what David’s senior picture. He was dressed in a white, button-down shirt with a grey blazer and what appeared to be a blue tie, though it was hard to tell in the black and white of the newsprint. The only thing that comforted Blaine about the situation was that he knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that Kurt wasn’t in love with David anymore. It was him he wanted.
Blaine’s thoughts were interrupted by the phone ringing. “Hello?” He heard Burt’s voice on the other line, much more calm and kind than the last time they had spoken by telephone.
“Blaine?”
“Hi, how are you?”
“I’m good, thanks. Is Kurt around?”
“Yeah, he’s right here, hold on.” He brought the phone down from his ear and covered the receiver with his hand. “Kurt. Its your dad.” Kurt got up and took the phone from Blaine.
“Dad?”
“Hey, kid. So how do you like Dalton?”
“I love it. Its great.”
“Good, good.” There was a long pause, and Kurt knew that there was something on his father’s mind, and he was pretty sure he knew what it was. And sure enough, he was right. “So…you know, I assume?”
“Yeah…yeah, I know.”
“Are you ok?”
“Yeah. Thanks.” He was not about to tell his dad that he had gone to the hospital to see David upon finding out that he was there, and that he was there when he died. And if his dad found out that he was planning on going to the funeral, he would kill him.
“I’m sorry, Kurt. Not for him, or his family. I want to make that clear. The times I did encounter those people were not pleasant. But I am sorry for you.” Kurt smiled.
“Thanks, dad.”
“How’s Blaine?”
“Good. I met his brother.” He looked at Blaine and winked, and he smiled in response. Kurt smiled wider when Blaine got his attention again and winked at him.
“Oh, yeah, that guy we met at the meeting?”
“Yeah.”
“Ok, well Carole wants to talk to you. I see you later.”
“Ok, dad.”
“Hi, sweetie!” Kurt smiled at her enthusiasm. She really did like him, and Kurt had always known that. But the transition was hard on everyone, so they never really got a chance to bond.
“Hi, Carole.”
“I’m so sorry about David!”
“Its ok. I’m…dealing with it. With Blaine’s help, of course.”
“Oh, of course. You two are adorable, I swear.” Kurt laughed.
“So we’re told.”
“So you like it up there? Better than McKinley?”
“Definitely. It’s great. And the dorm is…just, incredible.” They talked a while longer about the extent of the dorm, which amazed Carole to no end. She asked to talk to Blaine, which did surprise Kurt a little, but definitely in a good way.
“Here, she wants to talk to you.” Blaine looked just as surprised at Kurt did, but he took the phone.
“Hi.”
“Hi, sweetie. So, how is he?”
“Good. Better than before.”
“Good. We were really worried about him. Why do I get the feeling he’s gonna want to go to the funeral?” Blaine looked at Kurt, not sure what to say. Not that Kurt did either, since he didn’t hear the question, but still. “I’ll take your silence as a yes.” He heard Burt’s voice in the background.
“He is NOT going to that funeral!”
“Oh, you can’t stop him. Its his decision. Plus, Blaine’ll be there with him.”
“Yeah, absolutely. I wouldn’t let him go alone. I’ll definitely go, and my brother might too.”
“Oh, I remember your brother! Cooper, right?” Blaine smiled.
“Yeah.”
“I liked him. And Kurt was definitely telling the truth when he said that you Anderson boys have good genes in you.” That made Blaine blush, and Kurt smiled at his reaction.
“Oh, thank you.”
“Your welcome. Ok, well, I have to go to work and so does Burt, so I will talk to you guys later.”
“Ok. Bye.”
“Bye.” He hung up the phone, and looked over at Kurt.
“What did she say that made you turn so red?!” Blaine laughed.
“Well, we were talking about Cooper and, to quote her exactly, ‘And Kurt was definitely telling the truth when he said that you Anderson boys have good genes in you’.” It was Kurt’s turn to blush.
“She actually said that?”
“Yep.” He put his face in his hands, laughing.
“Oh my God!” Blaine laughed too, meanwhile knowing that Kurt did want to go to the funeral. And as much as he wanted to, he couldn’t stop him.
