"Happy two-month-a-versary," Kurt murmured into Blaine's chest.
Blaine kissed his forehead, smiling. "Two months since which day exactly?" he asked carefully.
Kurt rolled his eyes, twisting one of Blaine’s curls around his finger. "I feel like I should make you guess this," he said, grinning haughtily.
"I feel like that's just setting me up for trouble," Blaine replied, laughing. Kurt looked at him with a brow raised in a challenge and Blaine paused before grinning and saying confidently, "Happy two-month-a-versary since our first date." Kurt smiled and he bent to kiss him softly.
"That's why you're the best," he breathed against Blaine's lips.
The pair was cuddling on Blaine’s bed again. It was raining heavily and gloomily outside, casting the sky a dark grey and causing rain to slant and pound against the windows. Kurt had insisted that they just stay inside for the day, and he'd come over bearing coffees and DVD's so Blaine didn't argue but lead the way upstairs and pulled him close as soon as the door closed, pressing their lips together in a long and lingering kiss. Kurt tasted sweet today-sweet and warm.
The Notebook was playing idly in the background, but by now neither of them was really paying attention to it. Empty coffee cups were strewn across the ground, knocked off the side table from earlier when Kurt had been kissing Blaine up against the headboard of his bed. The sheets were wrapped around them tightly and Kurt was lying on Blaine's stomach, his one arm stretched above his head with his fingers twisting absently in Blaine’s curls. They could feel the warmth of one another almost as if it was their own. It was one of those days that were just so simple that everything seemed perfect.
"So is the two-month-a-versary the DVD watching-a-versary?" Blaine joked.
Kurt snuggled closer to him, his head on his shoulder. "I think the two-month-a-versary is very much the spend the day inside just enjoying each other’s company-a-versary."
"That sounds like a normal day to me," Blaine smiled.
"Maybe that's why it's perfect to be part of our two-month-a-versary."
Blaine smiled and kissed Kurt's nose. Kurt lifted himself up and slid his hand so that it cupped the side of Blaine’s face, bringing his lips up so that they were resting just lightly against Blaine's, hardly touching, their warm breath mingling together. Their eyes fluttered closed and Blaine closed the distance, kissing Kurt slowly and softly. Every kiss was just as magical as the first one with Kurt. His mind turned to goo and all he wanted was to kiss him forever and ever, his heart dancing happily in his chest and everything else disappearing. It just became he and Kurt together.
"Why didn't we celebrate a one-month-a-versary, then?" Blaine asked as Kurt settled in next to him once more. He wrapped his arms around Blaine.
"Because that's too clingy," Kurt replied easily.
Blaine laughed. "Awe, and I was all set to have one that day, too."
Kurt reached over, setting his hand against Blaine's cheek with a grin. "I'm sure that you were."
Blaine closed his eyes. Kurt felt so warm and cuddly beside him, and his fingers were gently playing in Blaine's curls again almost absently. It was like a second nature to be with Kurt, things just felt right. The movie drifted in and out of his mind and he listened to Kurt's even breathing beside him. He knew he wouldn’t mind if they just stayed like that for a while.
"This is hardly enough," the silver haired man shouted. "We need bigger! He's gotten better every time! He matches the competition! How do you break someone like that?"
His partner was watching calmly, used to the outbursts.
"You threw two mutated freaks at him and all he did was take it and then run off? You upgrade those freaks and then he just upgrades his stupid little suit?" He let out a scream of frustration, throwing down a glass which shattered all across the floor. "What're we supposed to do, keep upgrading them until someone traces it back and Silver wins in the end? We've got to destroy him!"
"He's good in combat," the calmer of the two observed.
"Well aren't they? Why aren't they?" he hissed.
He held up his hands, rolling his eyes. "If you put them up against the police they would be done with them in under a minute. Silver is just better."
"No! No he is not!"
The man ducked as he tossed another glass across the room. It sailed over his head and hit the door with a crash.
"We've got two human's who've been mutated and edited to violent perfection," he said. "They're strong enough to wound him a little. The guy thinks he's a genius at hiding that but with a split second's look you could catch that tear in his suit. He crashes through a window to much less effect, but Acid has done some damage."
"Yes, but she does the same damage every time!" the silvery haired man shouted.
He shrugged in response.
"Do you hear nothing?"
"You hit something enough times, won't it just burst?"
The other man scoffed. "That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. He's a person, not a fruit!" He glared at him and then spun around, placing his hands on the desk and thinking hard. "We need something faster. How do you hurt a person when they're equal?"
"You get better."
"That doesn't work too well when he can get better, too," he spat.
"Weaken them?" he suggested.
The silvery haired man stopped and looked at him, a malicious grin plastered to his lips. "Weaken. I do love to weaken."
"How, though?"
He put his hands together, furrowing his brow. "We need to know."
The other man looked at him curiously. "Know what?"
"We need to know who the Silver Spark is."
Blaine woke to tangled feet and a messy haired Kurt fast asleep on his chest. He rubbed at his eyes, careful not to wake his boyfriend. The movie was over and the main menu was showing on the screen, music repeating itself on a permanent loop. He looked down at Kurt. His one hand was splayed over top of his head, the other overtop of Blaine's. His lips were parted and his feet were tangled up with his own and the pile of blankets at the base of the bed. He looked so peaceful asleep.
He didn't want to wake Kurt, so he shifted slightly and curled closer to him, trying to fall back asleep.
"Hmm?" Kurt murmured, stirring.
"Sorry to wake you," Blaine said quietly, kissing his forehead.
Kurt blinked his eyes open and yawned, lifting his head so that their lips met. "It's alright," he smiled. He shifted again, moving closer.
There was a silence and Blaine reached over and flipped the TV to cable so that they had a background noise. The news was playing on the current channel, and a split second later Blaine scrambled to try and change the channel as Silver appeared. His heart beat faster but Kurt had his hand over Blaine's, watching the show with his brow furrowed.
"In the past weeks the two criminals who call themselves Acid and Smash have been terrorizing the city through the means of violence and theft. Police believe all actions are intended to lure Silver, who surely shows up every time before anyone can be seriously injured. They're always baffled, however, when the criminal who started the fight disappears after a given amount of time without any explanation."
"Those guys are disgusting," Kurt mumbled tiredly into Blaine's shirt.
"Which guys?" Blaine asked. His voice fell into the casual tone he wanted it to be.
"Those criminals," Kurt said, nodding at the TV. "All they do is cause trouble, bully Silver around a bit, and then leave."
Blaine watched as they showed a clip of Acid, melting her way through another wall. Then they showed to footage of Silver soaring through the window after Smash had hit him in the stomach. That one they repeated twice, the second time in slow motion. Blaine scowled slightly. "Maybe they're trying to learn something."
"Any information on the criminals has been classified and police are urging anyone with new information to please come forwards. They have the safety of the city and its citizens in mind. It seems that they believe eventually Silver Spark will eventually disappear, and when that happens the city will have no more keeping the two from harming citizens. However, some believe that Silver is the reason that the two criminals do stick around."
"From Silver?" Kurt asked. The question sounded thoughtful.
"Well people seem to think that's all Acid and Smash are doing is luring Silver," Blaine said pointedly.
Kurt nodded against him. He looked like he was thinking about something but Blaine didn't pry-or generally notice really. Just the topic of Silver made him nervous around Kurt as though it broke down all his defences and allowed Kurt to see his secrets. 'That's what I want though,' Blaine thought sadly.
"What would he have, though? Why target one guy?" Kurt said.
Blaine swallowed. "Maybe they just want him out of the way..."
Kurt didn't reply for a second. Hesitating, he asked quietly, "Blaine...are you alright?"
"What?" He nearly bolted upright.
"You...you seem nervous," Kurt said unsurely. He took Blaine's hand in his and Blaine realized how tense he was. He tried to be nonchalant about it but Kurt's suspicion was making him anxious. "Is something bothering you?"
"No," he replied a little too quickly. There was a sharp sting in the back of his neck and he nearly yelped. He heard something beep.
"...Blaine?"
There was another beep, this time louder. Blaine actually jumped this time, except so did Kurt. It took him a minute to realize that the sound had come from the TV set. Kurt was sitting up straight, his concerned gaze shifting from Blaine to the screen as "Breaking News" flashed across the screen in bright red letters. They both leaned forwards curiously, Blaine trying to ignore the beeping in his head.
"This just in, we have heard reports of Acid tearing up the west end of the city. She seems to be looking around and she's on a rampage here. We can only hope Silver shows up before someone is seriously injured."
Kurt's hand squeezed his and Blaine's heart gave a jolt. "I should go," he said suddenly, looking back at Blaine. "My dad..."
"What's wrong?"
"I think he was going to go out there today I should really get home..."
'Thank you for the excuse,' Blaine thought. He nodded in agreement and Kurt got to his feet and found his jacket. "I am so sorry," he mumbled, giving Blaine a quick kiss. "I'll call you later, okay?" He kissed him again, lingering this time, then gave a sad smile and was out the door.
"Can't we just play nice, for once?"
Acid's hand skimmed Silver's chest. He felt the acid as it seeped through, the suit struggling to keep up. There was a sharp bite as it hit flesh and he could feel it sinking through.
His arm shot out, throwing her back.
"That would have to go for both of us," she grinned.
She was on her feet in a second, grabbing for his arm. Her fingers steamed and Blaine reached out, snatching up her wrist and slamming it into a wall behind them. The wall sizzled and a chunk was eaten away. Blaine ducked a punch, slamming his foot into her stomach. It was almost a performance by now-a dance they'd both memorised. It felt familiar but not comforting-overdone was more the word he would choose.
"Just let me have one hit," she said smoothly, spinning away from his next hit.
Her hands reached out for him again and he ducked, but she moved with him, familiar as well. Her fingers scraped lightly at the top of his head, but it wasn't with the heated, fizzling acid sting that touched his skin. Her hand traced a quick circle in his head and the smallest of the suit fell away. He could feel the cold air on that one patch-a drop of rain. It mended in a second but she was smiling smugly.
"What pretty brown hair you have," she purred.
Blaine froze. His mind blanked.
She stood there, watching him distress, doing nothing but smiling proudly. "Does that worry you?" she whispered, looking delighted.
Her grasp reached out again, directed at his face, but Blaine was just quick enough to move. It caught the side of his head and he heard a gust of air as a small slit was opened right next to his ear. It was gone within a second, but he was getting aware of just how easily Acid seemed to be able to cut away pieces of the suit.
'Make yourself stronger or something,' Blaine pleaded in his head.
"Come on now, let me see those beautiful eyes, too," she smiled.
Blaine backtracked, his heart hammering. What pretty brown hair you have. Okay, so maybe that wasn't much to go off of, but it was something. A piece of his armor was down, gone forever.
She was going for his wrist now, he realized. His head felt groggy. She knew something, the littlest something, about who he really was. As her hand reached for him he stumbled back, feeling unsteady. She was smirking. "Not so high and mighty beneath there, are you?"
His hands reacted, throwing out hits faster than she could blink. She rushed to dodge them but one landed in her stomach, sending her backwards. For a second she scowled, pushing herself to her feet with steaming hands, but she looked back at him and the bitterness in her glare melted away. She knew something. And that she was content with. That was her day's goal. She turned and sprinted away, and Blaine ran after her, feeling numb, but lost her around the next corner.
What pretty brown hair you have.
"He froze," Sebastian observed, staring at the scene across the street with almost amused surprise. "What'd she do, mess with his pretty little head?"
Kurt squinted, trying to see. Acid's hand shot straight into the wall and a piece of it melted away with the actual acid that melted free from her fingers. She looked pretty happy for someone who'd just melted a wall. "Did she say something?" Kurt muttered.
"Think so," he replied, watching the two intensely. His eyes didn't move away.
"Any chance we could get a tape of that?" he asked, lowering his voice so that nobody else around them could hear.
"Good luck with that."
He tried to push forwards in the crowd but everyone was packed together, police officers keeping them at bay. He scowled, wishing they could be up front. They could be, with a wave of a card, but that would mean blowing cover of who they were and it was always safest to go for the mysterious approach. Something about the way that Silver moved was wrong, unsteady, and Kurt wanted to know what Acid could have done to cause this. Was it something she'd said, or was it something she'd done?
His mind wandered back to Blaine for a moment and how he'd left him. He hated lying to Blaine, but he needed to be where Silver was. That was all part of the job. Still, he felt guilty about it whenever it occurred.
He could picture Blaine watching the screen still, searching the crowd for Kurt's face to see if he was safely helping his father away. Maybe he was just interested in seeing Silver. Either way, what would Blaine do if he spotted Kurt among the crowd, observing the scene as though it was an experiment in a lab? 'All part of the job,' he reminded himself.
Acid flew backwards. It didn't take her long to get back up, and then she was off running. Silver flew after her, and the police were pulling away, hurrying in pursuit.
Comments
Oh..this is not going to end well. I can feel it. Why is Acid working with the "good guys" it doesn't make sense to me she could just keep fighting him or steal something she actually wanted. Anyway I feel bad for both Kurt and Blaine because they are both keeping half of themselves hid from each other and feeling guilty about it. Are they ever gonna find out?? Also what is Kurt's job exactly and is he really a teenager?? Update soon!
