Blaine woke up the next morning in a very good mood and he had had the best night sleep ever. He noticed that he was the first one awake so he very quietly slipped out of bed and grabbed his things before beginning to dress. He would find Kurt later on and they could explore together. He threw on his favourite cardigan and ran downstairs, past the kitchen (which smelled absolutely amazing) and all the way to the Great Hall. There weren't a lot of people in there but he did spot his favourite Ravenclaw sat by himself. He ran over to Kurt and sat down next to him.
"Hey you!" He grinned at Kurt. "How are you?"
"Hey!" Kurt smiled back. "I'm good, not long woke up. You look refreshed."
"I am! I had the greatest night sleep ever and i was sorted into a totally awesome house, which is right next to the kitchens! The kitchens, Kurt!" Blaine was so happy.
"I'm happy you like it. So, you made any friends yet?" Kurt asked.
"Well during dinner i was talking to a kid called Finn. He's super tall, like grown up tall! Then there's Brittany, she's not very smart but she seems nice and there are some others but i can't remember their names. Have you made any friends?"
Kurt shook his head. "I had a small conversation with a girl called Tina but everyone all grouped up and i was left standing by myself. I tried to talk to people but they moved away. But as long as i have you as my friend, i won't need any others." He smiled.
"Did you want to explore after breakfast?" Blaine asked.
"Yeah! I'd love to!!"
After breakfast, Blaine met up with Kurt and they went for a walk around the grounds. They walked in silence for a little while but it wasn't one of those uncomfortable silences, it was pretty comfortable actually.
"Look, there's Hagrid's hut!" Blaine pointed at the hut in the distance.
"Who is Hagrid again?" Kurt asked.
"He's the groundskeeper, he looks after everything. He's that super tall guy with the long hair and the beard, he's also really good with animals." He told Kurt.
"Oh right." Kurt said then looked over at the Quidditch Pitch. "What are those?"
"That's the Quidditch Pitch."
"What's that?"
Blaine gasped dramatically. "You don't know what Quidditch is?! I keep forgetting that you don't know a lot of magical stuff."
"So what is it?"
"It's a wizard sport, there are two teams that fly around on broomsticks with a ball and they have to score to get points. If the big ball, called the Quaffle, gets past the Keeper and into one of those goals, then the scoring team gets ten points. The chasers are the ones that do the scoring, the keepers are the ones that guard the goal, there are still two more kinds of players on the team. The Beater, they are the ones that hit the ball, called the Bludger, away. The Bludger is a dangerous ball and if it hits you, it could break a bone or seriously hurt you. But the beaters stop the ball from hitting you. And the last player is the seeker, they fly round and try and catch a tiny little gold ball with wings, that ball is called the Golden Snitch. The Snitch wins the team who catches it, one hundred and fifty points. With me so far?" Blaine explained.
"I think so." Kurt tried to say convincingly.
"I want to play Quidditch one day. I want to be the seeker but i know i'll never be one. I'll settle for any other player, just as long as i'm on the team." Blaine said.
"Well if you play, i'll definitely come and watch and support you." Kurt smiled.
They found a bench and sat down, they looked around at the beautiful sight. The castle was stunning and so were the grounds. Blaine could tell there was something on Kurt's mind though and he wanted to know what it was.
"What's up?" Blaine asked.
"Am i special?"
"Of course you are! Why would you ask something like that?"
"Because when Harry Potter's name got called, everyone was gasping and staring. He's obviously special. Why did no one else get that treatment? Why not you or me? I mean, you're the most special person i know and you didn't get a gasp." Kurt said.
"Harry is famous. Years ago there was a really really bad wizard and he killed so many people. He went into Harry's house when he was a baby and killed his parents, then he tried to kill Harry with the killing curse. But when the bad wizard tried to kill him, it didn't work and the bad wizard disappeared."
"Wow... that's just... oh wow." Kurt honestly found it fascinating. It sounded like the stories he'd read in the muggle papers, about gun shot or stab wounds that were meant to be fatal that weren't.
"Yeah. We got told that story as a bedtime story, it was really awesome."
"I got told stories like Little Red Riding Hood or Goldilocks and the Three bears." Kurt said.
"What are they?"
"You've never heard of them?" Kurt was surprised.
"No, they must be muggle stories. I got told stories like "Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump" and "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot"." Blaine noticed that Kurt looked confused. "Come on, let's go to the library and see if they have a copy of it there. You need to read these books, they are so good!"
Blaine got up and walked with Kurt, trying to find the library. After going up staircases and watching Kurt clinging onto them when they moved for dear life, Blaine held his hand for comfort and they found the library eventually. Kurt stopped and froze, making Blaine laugh. The poor boy hadn't seen so many books before, obviously.
"Come on, let's go find that book." Blaine smiled and they both started going through all the books. Kurt sneezing at the dust on a lot of the books and taking a few moments to look at Blaine.
