When the boys weren't in class, they were together and Kurt liked that a lot. It meant that the mean Slytherin's couldn't get to him. Blaine usually hung around with his friends so Kurt tagged along, he did like them though. He hoped that they liked him too but he doubted it. He usually sat silently in the group until Blaine or someone else started talking to him or told him to join in. Kurt mostly just watched Blaine and listened to what he said. He had thought a lot about what those Slytherin's said, about Blaine never loving him back. There was something there when he looked at Blaine but whether it was love and he did really like boys, Kurt still had to think about. It was scary knowing that people didn't like gay people, he was disliked enough as it was and if he was gay, then he'd lose everyone. He'd lose the friends that Blaine hung round with and maybe Blaine. He really didn't want to lose Blaine.
"Kurt, what are you doing?" Kurt saw Blaine's hand waving in front of his face.
"Sorry! I was thinking." Kurt smiled.
"Must've been a pretty deep thought. I've been calling you for a few minutes." Blaine told him.
"Oh. Sorry. I just didn't hear you, i was too deep in thought." Kurt said.
"Is everything okay?" Blaine asked.
"Would you still like me if i was different? I mean, not like everyone else."
"Kurt, you're more different than you realise. I like that you're not like everyone else, that would be so boring. You're fun and interesting, you're super smart. Like crazy smart. I've been a wizard for years and i don't know some of the stuff that you do, you're a fast learner."
That wasn't what Kurt meant but it was nice to hear anyway. He knew that if he was gay, that there'd be in chance of Blaine ever loving him. Blaine wasn't gay, he was really close to Quinn and Brittany. Chances are, he'd date one or both of them.

The classes weren't really too hard, Kurt caught on really quick and he knew a lot. He did hear people call him names when he answered questions, just because he was smart. But he did have competition in one Hermione Granger. They both were smart and both had come from the muggle world and had no previous magical knowledge but both were crazy smart. Whenever a question was asked, both of their hands shot up and they'd glare at each other while waiting for a teacher to pick them. He didn't know the girl but he did like the competition.

When the end of the lesson came, he followed Blaine and his friends to a bench and they all sat down on it. Once again, he sat there quietly until he felt eyes on him, he turned around and saw that big scary Karofsky guy glaring at him. He turned his head back round quickly and tried to make out he was listening to the conversation.
"What do you think, Kurt?" Finn asked him.
"Sorry, what was that?"
"How strange it is to see a white guy in a turban and has a really bad stutter."
"Oh yeah, its strange."
"I heard that he had a run in with vampires and since then he's had a stutter. Can you imagine meeting vampires? That would be so scary!" Finn said.
"Vampires aren't real!" Quinn said.
"Are too!" Tina argued.
"Are not!" Quinn argued back.
Kurt thought vampires sounded a bit scary and he shuffled closer to Blaine, who smiled at him.
"You scared of vampires, Kurtie?" Blaine asked with a grin.
"Of course not!" Kurt said too quickly, but deep down it was true. He came downstairs one evening when he lived at home, and saw his father watching a vampire horror movie and since then he was freaked.
"Are you sure?" Blaine asked again.
"I'm not scared!"
"Awwww! Is Kurt scared of vampires?" The others teased him.
"No!" He tried to convince everyone that he wasn't but he didn't sound convincing.
"Okay guys, enough teasing Kurt. He's not scared of vampires, he is really brave." Blaine told them, then looked at Kurt and winked.

Kurt was having a really good day, he seemed to be getting on with Blaine's friends really well and they might actually get to be his own friends too. The other Ravenclaw's in the group had already gone up, Kurt was the last because he was making sure that Blaine got back to the Gryffindor common room safely. He was walking along when he felt a shove which knocked him into the hard wall. He looked up and saw that big Karofsky kid looking down at him.
"Its the fag, Hummel!" He laughed. "Not with your boyfriend or has be rejected you because you're a disgusting fag?"
"He's not my boyfriend, he's my best friend!" Kurt said.
"You've not denied being a fag, so that must mean that its true."
"Whether its true or not is a) none of your business, b) nothing to be ashamed of and c) none of your goddamn business!" Kurt shouted at him.
"It's everything to be ashamed of! It's revolting and it makes everyone feel sick. If your friend knew what you were, he'd hate you and want nothing more to do with you. Maybe we should tell him what you are." Karofsky sneered.
What was Kurt to do? He had no idea if he was one of them or not. He had never thought about it until he had met Blaine, it might just be feelings of friendship. But if it wasn't feelings of friendship, then he was in trouble.
"Is there a problem here?" Kurt's head shot round and he saw the Hufflepuff Prefect coming there way.
"No, we were just talking." Karofsky said. "See you round, Hummel."
Karofsky walked away, leaving Kurt leaning against the wall and trembling.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you?" The Prefect asked.
"No, i'm fine. I should get back to my common room, i don't want to get into trouble." Kurt said, before walking away and hurrying to his common room. He was so happy to be there, it was safe and he could curl up and forget all the bad things.
