Blaine looked on helplessly, his love was being taken away and he couldn’t stop them, he was lost and he didn’t know what to do. They had been together since they were teenagers, Blaine was seventeen and Kurt was sixteen, he finally realised that Kurt was the one he wanted and he was stupid for not realising that before. He proposed months later when he felt that their love was strong enough to last forever and then they married a few years later, in New York and honeymooned in Paris. They moved in together officially and lived in a little condo in New York, a few years later they acquired some help of surrogacy in creating Andrew and then a couple of years later Elizabeth. Kurt had named the little boy after Andrew Lloyd Webber and Blaine named Elizabeth after Kurt’s mother. Then it came to him, he was going to have to go home and tell their children that their Daddy was dead and that they were never going to see him again, how the hell was he going to do that? Burt said he spoke to... to Kurt about angels and heaven but he won’t even be able to get the words out, it’ll be so hard not to cry and break down. What he wanted more than anything was Kurt back in his arms and for everything to be okay again, he had to explain to a five and three year old what was happening. He was shaking and crying and not aware that his knees had buckled and he was on the floor until a pair of arms wrapped around him and pulled him to his feet.
“Blaine honey come on, up you get.” Carole hugged him tight but all Blaine could look at was the corridor that they had taken Kurt down.
“There is so much to do, I have to tell the kids, organise the funeral, pick out an outfit for him and that is going to be a particular hard job alone.” Blaine was about to laugh which made him feel so horrible, how could he laugh at something like this? “Oh god, I’ll need to ring round and tell everyone that the love of my life, my husband, the kids Daddy, is dead. This is so hard. How did you do it?” He asked Burt.
“One day at a time, I couldn’t break down and lose myself because of Kurt, he had to be taken care of so you can’t do it to Andrew and Elizabeth. I mean we’d offer to take care of them tonight but... well you get it and you need them with you.” Burt patted Blaine’s shoulder. “Carole honey, we should get going. I don’t think I can stay here a minute longer.”

The drive home was a blur, not just through his tears but he couldn’t exactly remember driving, he opened the front door and two little children ran to his legs and hugged them tight. He wiped his eyes and forced a smile as he crouched down and hugged his kids tight, Rachel got up off the sofa and made her way to him.
“How is he?” She asked concerned.
“Hey kids, go and get Papa a story to read and get your pyjamas on, I’ll be right there okay.” He kissed both of their heads and the two little kids ran upstairs, Elizabeth bumping up on her bottom since they were a bit too big for her little legs.
“Blaine? What’s happened?” She took his hand and led him to the couch where he completely broke down.
“He’s gone Rachel, he’s gone and left me. He... in my arms... while I sang to him... he didn’t wait until I finished... he just went... I can’t... Rachel... I miss him...” He put his head in his hands and cried hard into them, Rachel put a hand on his back and rubbed it, her eyes watering.
“Kurt’s dead? No, I can’t believe it. He... oh my god.. Finn, does Finn know? Oh my god imagine how he’s going to feel to learn his brother is dead.” Rachel sobbed.
“Finn, is Finn all you care about? My husband is dead and all you can think about is Finn. God Rachel, you’re so selfish.” Blaine near enough shouted, the only thing that was stopping him was the kids upstairs.
“Blaine, I’m so-“ She was cut off.
“Get out. I mean it Rachel, get out right now. I’m not in the mood right now for anything you have to say, I just need to be with my children, I need my husband back. Just get out.” Blaine got up and opened the door, directing her out. He slammed the door when she was gone and leaned against it, he would’ve slipped down it and cried harder but he heard a little voice coming from the stairs.
“Papa, we’re all ready for our story.” Andrew smiled down at his Papa by the door, going to him and holding his hand pulling him that way.
Blaine followed the little boy up the stairs and looked at the two children, Elizabeth in her little bed and Andrew jumping in beside her. He sat down at the end of the bed and looked at the book they had chosen, Harry Potter, he had read that to them so many times that he was surprised by their choice. He started reading when he stopped suddenly, choked by tears, Kurt usually sat beside him or in his lap as he read and it was so weird without him there.
“Papa? Why did you stop?” Elizabeth asked looking at her dad worried. “Its not a sad bit is it?
Blaine put down the book and looked down.
“Papa, don’t cry.” Andrew put a hand on Blaine’s face, wiping away the tears and made him look up which only made him cry harder. “Is it Daddy? You only get upset when its about Daddy.”
“When’s Daddy coming home?” Elizabeth asked, it was harder to look at Elizabeth than Andrew, Elizabeth was biologically Kurt’s therefore she looked like him, she had his eyes, giggle, smile and personality. Both questions shattered Blaine, he had smart children and he couldn’t lie to them and knew that he had to tell them. “No darling, Daddy isn’t coming home...”

End Notes: Blaine struggles to tell his children about Kurt, can he do it?
