“Hey,” Blaine heard coming from the bed next to him.
“You’re awake,” Blaine smiled taking hold of Kurt’s hand as he leaned over and kissed his forehead.
“No Blaine, my lips please. I want to take every kiss i can from you while i can.” Kurt said his voice shaky, trying to fight back the tears, he had to stay strong, for Blaine.
“You look so beautiful,” Blaine said as he leaned down and kissed his lips.
“I’m dying Blaine, someone so sick and dying isn’t beautiful.” Kurt whispered against his lips.
The words “i’m dying” killed Blaine inside and once Kurt was gone, he would not be able to go on. For you see, both boys held each others hearts, their lives evolved around each other, their hearts beat as one.
“I can’t lose you Kurt, i love you.” Blaine’s lip was quivering, Kurt’s over hand went up and rested on his face, a thumb going across his lip.
A tear escaped Kurt’s eyes as Blaine spoke. “I love you too, you’ll never lose me, never. I’ll always be in here.” The hand from Blaine’s face slipped down to rest where his heart was, he felt the broken heart slowly beating beneath the skin. “Just because you won’t be able to see me and kiss me, doesn’t mean i won’t be there. I’ll never ever leave your side, I said i’ll never say goodbye to you and i mean it Blaine, i’ll never leave you.”
Blaine was now crying, holding Kurt’s hand tight, his other hand going up to take the hand that was on his broken heart. “I’m going to miss you so much, its going to be so hard without you.”
“I don’t have long left Blaine, please make this filled with happiness instead of sadness please?” Kurt begged a few more tears rolling down his pale fragile cheeks.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. If only i wasn’t in the road or you didn’t push me out of the way. This wouldn’t have happened, i’m so sorry.” Blaine was practically bawling now.
“Blaine, baby please. This isn’t your fault, okay you understand that. I would never have let that car hit you, it would always be me getting hit every time. There is nothing you could have done, just promise me something.” Kurt asked his teary eyes looking into Blaine’s.
“Anything, just name it.”
“Never forget me,” Kurt asked seriously, his hands holding onto Blaine’s more.
“Never, i could never ever forget you. You’re the freaking love of my life Kurt, something that is not easily forgotten and anyway I have Andrew and Elizabeth to tell all about you. There is no way i could ever forget you.” Blaine managed to get out through the tears, he sat on the bed beside Kurt.
“Hold me, please.” Kurt asked looking at his husband.
Blaine nodded, unable to say anything he slipped down onto the bed wrapping his arms around Kurt, holding him close. “Come stop your crying, it will be all right. Just take my hand, hold it tight. I will protect you from all around you. I will be here don't you cry.” Blaine sang quietly in Kurt’s ear. “For one so small, you seem so strong. My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm. This bond between us, can’t be broken. I will be here, don’t you cry....”
Blaine was interrupted by Kurt talking, Kurt turned his head and looked at Blaine. “I love you.” He said weakly. Blaine knew it was almost time, which made more tears stream from his face. “I love you too. Cause you’ll be in my heart, yes, you’ll be in my heart.” Blaine continued to sing. “From this day on, now and forever more. You’ll be in my heart, no matter what they say. You’ll be in my heart. Always.”
And with that final word, Kurt’s eyes shut for the last time, he breathed his last breath there in Blaine’s arms. Blaine had lost him, the man he loved more than life itself has died in his arms.
“Kurt!” He tried to shake him to wake him but he wasn’t moving, or breathing. “No, Kurt please come back. Come back to me please.” Blaine pulled his body close to him and cried into it. “I love you so much, please come back to me. Please.” He begged.
The door opened and a person walked in, Blaine knew who it was from the sound of collapsing. It was Burt. Blaine looked at Burt. “We lost him.” He turned his look back to Kurt, not wanting to let go.
“Blaine, come on. I need a minute.” Burt said getting to his feet.
“No! I can’t leave him i promised.” Blaine cried, breaking Burt’s heart more than it already was.
Carole was stood by the door, she walked over to Blaine and put her hand on his face pulling it up. “Blaine honey, listen to me. You haven’t left him, he hasn’t left you. He’s still with you. Now come on, give Burt a minute with his son.” She took hold of Blaine in her arms, the boy unable to walk properly.
Carole sat Blaine down and held him as he cried. “What were his last words?” She asked curiously.
“I love you, he told me he loved me. I can’t live without him, Carole. He is... was... my life. And he risked his life for me...”
“Which is why you can’t give up, at home you have two beautiful children who need their Papa now more than ever. They just lost their Daddy and i know its going to be hard but you have so many people to look after you and help you whenever you need it.”
Burt came out minutes later, tears still streaming from his face as Blaine stood up and hugged him tight. “How do i tell two young children that their Daddy is... how do i do that?” He asked Burt, since he knew because of Kurt’s mother.
“I don’t know, i just talked to Kurt about angels and things, saying how his mother was up in heaven and would always be watching down at him.” Burt answered.
Blaine let go of Burt and went back into the room where Kurt’s body was, he collapsed down beside him, taking Kurt’s hand in his, kissing it. “I’m so sorry Kurt, i’m so sorry. If only i hadn’t stepped out, i wish this was me instead of you. You didn’t deserve this. You’re so young and beautiful, how am i going to live without you?”
He climbed onto the bed and held the body in his arms like he was before he had to move. “I never finished our song did i?” He cradled Kurt in his arms. “I love you so much, I always will.”
Blaine was interrupted by a nurse, who had come to take Kurt away. He didn’t want to let go, he wasn’t going to let go.
“NO! You can’t take him, he’s mine. He belongs with me, you can’t have him. Please.” Blaine begged, he clung to Kurt’s limp body more. The nurse tried to talk to him but Blaine wouldn’t give in, he just held Kurt’s body and cried onto it. In the end the nurse had to get Burt to talk to him.
“Blaine, come on son. There is nothing you can do to bring him back, come on.” He practically dragged Blaine away from Kurt, the nurse put a sheet over Kurt’s pale face before wheeling him out of the room.

Oh god, that was so sad...I'm crying. Beautiful.
I cried whilst writing the entire story
I am working on that as we speak, Blaine is going to tell the kids about Kurt's death. It isn't complete don't you worry. Thanks for the review :D
that was so heart-breaking. i usually don't cry at stories like this, but i cried at this one. would you consider writing a sequel or a continuation to this? something that explores 1. how blaine tells elizabeth and andrew about their daddy's death, 2. their mourning process, and 3. how or if blaine actually recovers–some counselling maybe? it just feels like there something else there.
I dont usually cry when I read fanfics,so you are the first;) can I suggest a chapter of how kurt had the accident? Why was Kurt so certain he was going to die,did he die shortly after the accident?a question I thought of while reading..and totally my opinion,I think you should not write canon into your amazing story,I look forward to a new chapter tho!:)
Thank you for your review and your suggestions, how Kurt had the accident and everything you have said will be mentioned later on. In further chapters you will see Blaine having flashbacks to every special moment between them two so the accident and when Kurt knew he was going to die will be mentioned. Thank you again :)
very heart-wrenching...but beautifully written.
That's what I was aiming for. Thank you so much
