Kurt sat outside Blaine's room for hours, since Dianna wouldn't let him in. It pained him that he couldn't see his love. It was just turning morning, when Dianna left Blaine's room. She warned Kurt not to step foot in there or she's get security to make sure that he'd not be allowed to even enter the hospital. He cried and begged her to keep him company but she wouldn't allow it. She told him that she was going home to see her daughter and that Burt would be there soon. That made him feel a bit better, his dad would let him see Blaine. His dad knew how much Kurt loved Blaine and that they needed to be together.
Kurt stood in the doorway, not entering Blaine's room, and just watched him. Blaine looked so fragile.
"I love you." Kurt whispered.
A hand clapped on his shoulder and he turned his head. His father was standing right behind him, making him turn around and hug him tight and cry into his fathers shoulder.
"She won't let me see him!"
"I know son." Burt said. "She's taking her anger at herself and me out on you."
"It doesn't mean she can keep me away from him! He needs me right now and it's not fair to keep me away from him. Please dad, let me see him."
"Dianna told the nurses not to let you in and if they see you, you won't be allowed back in the hospital."
"I hate her! I actually hate her!" Kurt shouted, tears streaming down his face.
Burt sat with Blaine for a long time, looking round every now and then to see Kurt just sat staring at Blaine. He hated that Dianna was doing this to him, it really wasn't fair. Kurt hadn't been home since Blaine had the accident or before that even. He never even returned home from school. Soon, Burt would return home and pick up some stuff for Kurt since he had a feeling that Kurt wouldn't leave anyway. The doctor came in and told Burt that there was no change. They also asked him if he would give Blaine a sponge bath. He felt incredibly uncomfortable but he'd rather do it than have a nurse do it. He held the sponge in his hand and got ready to wash Blaine.
"I can do that." Kurt said. Burt looked round and saw him stood in the doorway.
"You're not allowed in here." Burt said.
"I can see that you feel uncomfortable doing it and so would Dianna. I'm also guessing that you don't want some random nurse to wash him, so please, let me do it. I won't feel uncomfortable because i'm going to spend the rest of my life with him. Please." Kurt begged.
"Fine! But i'll guard the door so no one comes in. I don't want you being kicked out of the hospital."
Kurt rushed to Blaine's bedside and hugged him tight, kissing his face and just kept touching his skin. Kurt took the sponge and delicately cleaned his boyfriends body, all over him. Once he was done, he didn't tell his dad straight away that he was finished, so he could be with Blaine some more. He cried silently and stroked Blaine's hair, feeling his curls twist around the fingers running through. He leaned down and kissed Blaine's lips.
"I love you so much." Kurt whispered. "No matter what happens. Now you better get through this, you need to."
"Are you done, Kurt?" His father asked.
"Yeah i am. Can i have a minute with him?"
"A quick one because i think someone is going to come in here soon."
"Wake up, please. We need each other so please wake up." Kurt kissed Blaine's lips deeply before reluctantly pulling away and leaving the room.
Blaine had been in a coma now for a week, there had been no signs of any change, good or bad. Kurt spent most of his time at the hospital, except when he went home to change and shower. He spent the rest of his time on the chair outside Blaine's room, just watching and hoping that he'd finally wake up. Kurt watched as nurses walked in and out of his room, being there with Blaine when Kurt couldn't. There was a male nurse that spent the most time in Blaine's room, he was Blaine's assigned nurse. From what Kurt could tell, he was nice. Kurt was confused though when he came over and sat next to Kurt.
"You're here every day." The nurse pointed out.
"yeah i am."
"Why?" He asked. "You sit out here all day and all night, you don't move unless it's to go home and change or to get coffee. What is that boy to you?"
"He's the guy i'm in love with."
"I see." The nurse said. "I'm James."
"I'm Kurt."
"Why don't you go inside?"
"You weren't told? Blaine's mother won't let me inside, she's angry at herself and she's letting her anger out at me." Kurt sighed and ran a hand through his unstyled hair.
"So she had you banned from his room? That's so unfair." James looked at his watch them got up. "I have to go. I've been told to give Mr. Anderson a sponge bath."
Kurt nodded and bit his lip, hating that another man was going to wash Blaine. He wanted to do it. But Blaine would wake up and then it would all be better. Soon. It had to be soon.
Kurt's hospital days started the same, he would have spent most of the night staying away to keep an eye on Blaine but then lost the fight and would've eventually fallen asleep. Then in the morning, he'd wake up and check on Blaine before going home to change and shower, maybe grab an apple or something. He'd come back and grab a coffee and spend the day sat in the chair watching Blaine, then get more coffee and a magazine and do the same. But today was different. When he arrived back at the hospital after showering and getting changed, there were a load of people in Blaine's room. He ran to the door and looked inside, doctors and nurses were leaning over Blaine.
"James!" He called to the nurse. "What's going on?"
"He's waking up." James told him.
"He is?!" Kurt smiled. "Is he going to be okay?"
"They'll have to do tests to check how his brain is, but he should be okay." James told him and then got back to work.
Kurt was so relieved to know that Blaine was going to be okay. It was the thing he wanted most in the world. More than NYADA. Blaine was the one thing in the world that he wanted.
He got his phone out of his pocket and called his dad, telling him the good news before running to find Dianna who was getting coffee.
"Blaine's awake!" He smiled.
"Oh my god!" Dianna put down her coffee and ran to Blaine's room, pushing past the doctors and nurses. "It's okay baby, i'm here." She said, grabbing his hand.
"Can you talk?" The doctor asked.
"M-mom? What h-happ-happened?"
"You had a car accident, you drove into a pole."
"I d-did? Am i okay?"
"You were in a coma for a while but you're okay now." Dianna smiled and kissed Blaine's head.
"Wh-where's Kurt?" Blaine asked.
Dianna looked round and motioned for Kurt to come in. He ran to Blaine's bedside and stroked his hair, smiling down at him.
"I thought i lost you." Kurt smiled. "I've been so worried about you."
"I'm okay." Blaine smiled. "Why are you stroking my hair?"
"I always do. You like it."
"You've never stroked my hair before, Kurt."
"I have. Baby, we do it all the time."
"Why are you calling me baby?"
"Because we're together and in love. We're boyfriends."
"No we're not. You're not my boyfriend."
"I am. I love you."
"I love you as my best friend. But i'm not in love with you. We're not boyfriends, Kurt and never will be."
