Kurt watched as the nurses checked over Burt and got him the things he needed. He smiled as his fathers eyes opened and looked at him, he was so happy to see those eyes.
“Hi dad, welcome back.” Kurt smiled. “I missed you so much and i was so worried that you were going to... Well you’re okay now. Dianna’s okay and so is Blaine. They’ve both been here to visit you and as far as i know, the baby is okay. I haven’t really spoken to Dianna that much but Blaine tells me things. He’s been staying with me so i wasn’t alone. Sorry, i’m kinda rambling. How are you feeling?”
He saw his father raise his hand and give him a thumbs up, making him smile more. He was so happy that his father was alive and getting better. The nurses said they were going to test Burt to see if there was any brain damage but it all looked good so far.
He stepped outside for a minute while the nurses too care of his dad, so he took the opportunity to call his boyfriend.
Blaine went to see his mother that day while Kurt was at the hospital; he had spent a lot of time with Kurt that he had barely seen his mother. He called her every day and they text too, because he was worried about her especially in her condition. He knew that she visited Burt but it was always at a different time because she worked. He and his mother were having lunch together and sat at their dining table when Blaine’s phone rang.
“You know the rules, no phones at the table.” Dianna told her son.
“But its Kurt, it might be something about Burt.”
“Okay, because of the situation you can answer it.”
Blaine answered the phone quickly and held it to his ear. “Kurt, what’s wrong?”
“Dad woke up, he’s awake!” Kurt said happily down the phone.
“What? He’s awake?” Blaine smiled, looking at his mum who was staring at him.
“Yes! About five minutes ago he woke up.”
“Okay we’re on our way.” Blaine hung up and smiled more. “He’s awake, lets go and see him.”
Dianna was over the moon that the man she was falling in love with was awake at last. She’d been so worried about him, she didn’t know what she’d do if he died. They were having a baby together and she needed him. She and Blaine got ready to go to the hospital, he told her to meet him at the car so she did. She got her stuff together and walked to the front door, opening it and gasped.
“What are you doing here?”
It was her husband Mark. She hadn’t seen him for a while now, few months and now he was back.
“I’m here to see you and my son, Cooper.”
“You have two sons; the other is called Blaine if you remember.”
“I don’t have a son by that name, i only have one. Is he here?”
“Blaine, your son, is here but Cooper unfortunately is not. Why are you here? You walked out and then we hear nothing from you for months and now you’re here? Why?”
“I want us to get back together.”
“I don’t want to get back with you. I’m with someone else now, someone who will treat me and my boys right. He accepts Blaine for who he is and... we’re having a baby together. It’s only fair you know now.”
“Who is he? Were you with him when we were together? Is that why you’re pregnant? You whore!” Mark shouted at her.
Blaine heard shouting and rushed to the door, seeing his father there and shouting in his mothers face.
“Hey! Back off!” Blaine shouted at his father.
“Do you know about this? Do you know that your mother is pregnant?”
“Yes I do and while I am not happy about it, I support her. She and I are nothing to do with you anymore, she is happier with Burt.”
Dianna closed her eyes and sighed deeply, she hadn’t yet told Mark about Burt and she didn’t plan to just yet.
“Burt?! You’ve shacked up with Burt Hummel, my best friend?!” Mark was red with anger.
“It wasn’t planned. I love him Mark, like you loved Elizabeth so you can’t get angry at me.”
“But I didn’t sleep with her and get her pregnant!”
“That is enough!” Blaine shouted at his parents. “Dad, i think its best that you go and mum, don’t get yourself worked up, its not good for the baby.”
Blaine took his mothers arm and gently pulled her inside, closing the door behind them. He held Dianna when she started crying and rubbed her back soothingly. He led his mother to the couch and sat her down before going to the kitchen to make her a hot drink. While he made the drink, he text Kurt explaining that they should be there later. There wasn’t a reply for a while but Blaine was okay with that, he understood. He and Kurt had things to discuss at some point, about their future together. This school year they had to decide where they were going to go for college, he knew where Kurt wanted to go but he still had to decide for himself. He’d thought about going to the same place as Kurt but he wasn’t entirely sure yet. All he knew for certain was that he wanted his future to be with Kurt.
