"What was that about?" Cooper asked, putting his hand on his brother’s shoulder. He had never seen Blaine have a nightmare before in his life and now had had one it made his concern grow.
"I heard him, he was screaming." Blaine said quietly, trying to get himself together and gripping on the coffin. He wasn’t looking at his brother; he was more staring at the dark wooden floor.
"You heard him? Kurt, you heard Kurt?" Cooper asked, making sure that he was right even though he knew he was. He wondered how it was possible. He knew it was just a dream, Blaine couldn’t really hear Kurt right now because Cooper thought that Kurt was dead.
"Before i collapsed last night the last thing i heard was a scream, his scream and he sounded so scared and he was in so much pain. I couldn’t help him, I was dying and he was..." Blaine's voice broke; he was trying not to cry. His knees were pressed against his chest and his arms were around them, holding them together.
"You got engaged last night, why didn't you tell me?" Cooper asked, they were brothers, they were supposed to share these things together. It kinda hurt Cooper that Blaine didn’t tell him. If he was getting engaged, the first person he would tell would be Blaine, because Blaine would be his best man and he felt like after everything, he should know.
"Because it wasn't exactly top priority was it?" Blaine snapped, not realising right away that he had snapped. When he did he felt bad, Cooper was the only one there for him right now and the last thing he should do is push him away.
"Look I’m sorry, i went to see his parents this morning to tell them what happened." Cooper said, brushing his hair out of his face, unlike Blaine’s who was a curly mess; Cooper’s hair was straight with a little wave.
"I know it’s a stupid question but how'd they react?" Blaine asked, finally looking at his older brother. There was ten years between them but it wasn’t particularly noticeable.
"Devastated, they think he's dead, there was nothing i could do to take that pain away. His mother was... oh god, she was so upset and his dad looked like he could pass out. I never want to have to do that again. And I told them that they attacked you and left you in a bad way, i never mentioned your fangs." Cooper sighed sitting down in the chair.
"Thank you." Blaine said, incredibly relieved.
"You know we can't stay here anymore, we have to search somewhere else" Cooper said, trying to think of where.
"I know, i know i just, i don’t know how to tell our parents. What happens if we can't find him?" Blaine asked, petrified that they won’t. He had to find Kurt, he just had to.
"Well if we can't find him then, we have to face facts that he's dead" Cooper answered, trying to get his brother to understand what was happening.
Blaine pushed open his front door, his mother looked like she'd seen a ghost, and well in a way it was true Blaine was technically dead.
"Blaine, oh thank goodness you’re home and safe." Margaret cried running to her son and hugging him. Blaine had to deep breathe to stop himself from biting, it was so hard. The blood was flowing and he could feel it rushing around her body, he could feel her pulse and heart beating and pumping and he had to pull out of the hug.
"Have you heard anything?" Blaine asked.
"About what and where have you been?" Margaret asked sternly.
"Mother, sit down please." Blaine asked nicely.
"Just a minute dear I’m cleaning." Margaret smiled at her vampire son.
"Mother sit down!" Blaine shouted, he had felt a rush of anger and couldn’t stop himself from shouting. Margaret dropped the cup she was holding and it smashed. Blaine ran to help her clear it up, picking up the glass he noticed she was bleeding. Blaine's fangs appeared but he could not stop himself and he licked his mother’s finger. After realising what he was doing he felt disgusted at himself and moved away. Margaret got up with a scared look upon her face and cleaned her finger while Blaine removed the broken glass.
"Mother I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me." Blaine couldn't bear to look into his mothers eyes. "Last night Kurt and i were attacked and Kurt was kidnapped by vampires. Cooper took me back to his place and let me stay there."
Blaine finally looked at his mother, whose eyes were filled with tears.
"You’re a vampire? Kurt's gone? Oh my... I don’t know what’s happening. You’re... Kurt’s gone? He was so kind and sweet and you’re a vampire?" Margaret's voice cracked.
"Yes mother I know my own fiance, but i didn't just come here just to tell you that. Me and Cooper we're leaving town, we're going to try and get our heads around what happened" Blaine told her. "I've come to say goodbye."
Margaret gave her son one last hug goodbye, she understood why he had to go and she believed that she would see him again but he knew different this was the last time he would ever see his mother.
"Mother, you know I love you don't you?" Blaine asked, stroking her hair softly and trying not to cry. He didn’t know if he could really even cry, if he just had the feeling of it or he would cry real tears.
"You know you do son and I love you and so does your father."
"I'm going to say my hellos and goodbyes to him but can you let him know details because i can't bear to retell this story again?"
"Of course darling." Blaine hugged his mother tight again, held her close before he kissed his mother on the cheek and left.
Blaine walked down the road to his father’s workplace, but to get there he had to cross the path where he and Kurt were attacked. It pained him as the flashbacks from the previous night haunted him. He could hear Kurt screaming and still see the blood on the ground. His blood. He was standing in the spot where he died, it felt so weird. Blaine saw a glimpse of something shiny in the grass. He picked it up, it was a pendant with a silver chain and on the chain was a silver heart engraved with vines, in the centre of this heart was a small blue heart shaped crystal. He then realised that it was the one that he had brought Kurt at Christmas with all of his work savings, and there was his blood inside of the blue crystal. He undone the clip and fastened it around his neck. Completely forgetting to say goodbye to his father he walked back to Cooper's who was already packed. It appeared that he had packed a bag for Blaine too; Cooper told him how he snuck into his house and bagged up some clothes. Outside the house was a horse and cart big enough to fit both their bags on and Blaine's coffin.
"Blaine, I want to ask something of you before we leave." Cooper asked, he wasn’t sure how Blaine was going to take it but it was worth a shot.
"Anything Cooper, just name it."
"I... I want you to turn me into a vampire."
"No! No, no, no. No! I cannot do that." Blaine said shocked and a bit angry that Cooper would ask that.
"You did say anything." Cooper reminded him, he was pleading.
"Yes i did but not anything like this. I didn’t expect this."
"Look we both know that we aren't ever coming back here so could you bear to watch the one person you'll be with for the next 40 years die?"
"You know i don’t want that, but i don’t want to turn you either. It’s horrible and it’s painful and it’s so hard. Do you really want to go on as a vampire? And anyway I don’t really know how to turn.”"
"Well you have no choice because we both need each other for this, two vampires are better than one and anyway I’ve heard of some witches who can create spells so we can go out in daylight if we do not cause harm. Come on Blaine just do it." Cooper pleaded.
In the end Blaine had no choice, he begged and pleaded not to do it but Cooper was right and Blaine turned him.
