"Blaine? Are you okay?" Cooper asked very concerned as he helped him up. Blaine’s clothes were extremely dusty from the path underneath him. Blaine looked around as if he was looking for something or someone, Cooper looked with him but then looked back at Blaine with concern. Blaine felt groggy and struggled to understand what was going on. "Blaine? Are you there?"
Suddenly a rush of hunger came over Blaine as he lunged at Cooper, who quickly moved out of the way, feeling pretty scared and confused.
"Blaine, what is the matter with you?" Cooper asked in a scared and concerned voice. He decided that this was better discussed in a private place so he grabbed Blaine’s collar and dragged him to his house. He threw Blaine through the door, getting inside himself and backed up against the wall with a terrified look on his face. He brushed his short dark hair out of his eyes to mop the sweat which was growing underneath his fringe.
"Blaine, what's going on?" Cooper demanded. It took Blaine a few minutes to realise where he was and what had just happened, his memory was slowly coming back.
"Sorry, i have to go." Blaine said quietly, remembering Kurt. He tried to push past Cooper who pushed him back, not allowing him to leave until he knew what was going on.
"Tell me what happened Blaine. Tell me!" Cooper said with a raised voice, his brother had changed and he wanted to know why, so he could fix it.
"Kurt, they've got Kurt. I need to go and save him, please let me go." Blaine cried.
"Kurt? Who's got Kurt?" Cooper said with concern and worry for his brothers fiancee.
"Vampires, th-they came tonight when i was walking Kurt home and the m-man bit me and they took Kurt." Blaine stuttered fighting back more tears. Cooper’s face said everything Blaine needed to hear; his face crumpled and went from anger to fear.
"That’s why you lunged at me wasn't it? They turned you?" Cooper asked with fear in his voice, he was scared because he knew that Blaine could hurt him but he also knew that it wasn’t Blaine’s fault.
"I think so, I'm so sorry but I'm just so hungry, please i need food. I need blood." Blaine pleaded. Cooper had an idea and went outside and picked up a chicken from his garden. He returned inside and gave it to Blaine, for his own safety he jumped back against the wall. Blaine slurped and attacked the chicken until all the blood had been drained. Blood was stained around his mouth, Cooper pointed it out to Blaine who went over to the bucket and washed his face.
"Sorry" Blaine apologised.
"It’s not your fault, any idea how we are going to explain this to our parents and Kurt’s? How Kurt was kidnapped by vampires and you are a vampire?" Cooper asked, being surprisingly understanding about the situation. He was scared but not showing it so Blaine didn’t get upset.
"There were a couple of people on the hill when the vampires attacked so it’s probably already around the town." Blaine shrugged, just guessing. He put his hands to his head when a sharp pain went through it. He was changing and he could feel it and it hurt.
Cooper slid down the wall and put his head in his hands. Blaine could hear him sobbing. Cooper was obviously overwhelmed by everything and he couldn’t blame him, it was a lot to take in.
"You need to tell me exactly what happened when these vampires attacked" Cooper asked, raising his head a little to look at his vampire baby brother.
"Well the man, i think his name was Sebastian, he grabbed Kurt’s arm and wouldn't let go of him so i tried to get him off. He threw Kurt to the other vampire, her name was Santana. Sebastian lunged at me and bit my neck, oozing venom into my body so i couldn't do anything, i couldn't move or see anything. The only thing i could do was listening; the last thing i remember hearing was the horrible screams coming from Kurt like they were torturing him." Blaine cried, wiping the tears from his eyes. He looked up at Cooper whose eyes were bloodshot. "There was nothing i could do, i felt so useless and helpless. I didn’t look after him; i was supposed to protect him"
Cooper got to his feet and pulled Blaine in for a hug. Blaine looked down at the warm pulsing vein in Cooper’s neck; his fangs were out ready to bite. Blaine was scared and he pushed Cooper away but with his new strength Cooper fell to the floor. Blaine began to feel hysterical, that warm blood flowing around Coopers body. No, Blaine thought, this man is your brother, we share the same blood. Cooper was aware of what was happening and got up and looked Blaine square in the eyes.
"Blaine, calm down, come on breathe, think of something nice and calming" Cooper pleaded figuring this was the way to stop Blaine from attacking against his will. Coopers plan worked, Blaine began to calm down and his teeth retracted. "If you breathe and calm down every time you feel the urge to bite them you should be okay. Less people will get hurt. We can work on this together."
"Cooper... thank you, you know for understanding me and helping. Anyone else would have screamed vampire to the entire town and would have had me staked and burned." Blaine smiled.
"Well you’re my brother, aren't you? And anyway if we're going to try and find your fiance i need someone strong and fast by my side" Cooper smiled back.
"You're going to help me find him?" Blaine asked.
"He's your fiance and he makes you happy, so i have to" Cooper sighed. "We do have one slight problem, you cannot come out in daylight, we are going to have to make you a coffin so i can ride and search by day and you come out at sundown and help me, and then we swap"
"Yes that is a good idea, but where are we going to find the wood?" Blaine asked.
"Well i have some wood outback from when i was going to build my extension onto my house, we can use that.” Cooper suggested.
"Thank you Cooper, i guess we'd better get started we only have a few hours until sunrise"
They worked all night until the sun came up, luckily for them the coffin was ready. Cooper had already told Blaine that this was only temporary and they will get hold of something better when they could. Blaine climbed inside the coffin and pulled the door shut, after a while he fell asleep.
Cooper covered the coffin with a blanket, and strained to push it over into the darkest corner of the room so it could not be seen. Once he'd done that he set off for Kurt’s house to tell Kurt’s family what had happened, he was going to tell them about Kurt but was sure to keep Blaine’s vampirism out. He rattled on the door and waited as he could hear footsteps coming down the stairs. The door opened and he saw the corner of Mrs. Hummel’s tired eyes.
"Cooper? What are you doing here?" Elizabeth asked.
"Can i come in? There is something very important i need to talk to you about." Cooper whispered.
Elizabeth opened the door and welcomed him into the house, he went and sat on the chair in front of the burned out fire.
"Cooper? What is it what's wrong?" Elizabeth asked with fear crackling in her throat.
"You may have realised that Kurt didn’t come home last night" Coopers voice began to break as he fought gallantly to keep the tears back.
"Yes i had but i thought he had stayed over Blaine’s last night as they got engaged." Elizabeth tried to smile at Cooper but his sad face made her think something bad had happened. "Why? What's happened?"
"Blaine and Kurt were attacked by vampires last night, i found Blaine late last night but the vampires have Kurt." Cooper fought back the tears no longer and they flowed like a stream down his face.
"Kurt? No! Vampires aren't real, they can't be, my poor baby. Is he dead?" Elizabeth cried hard, her fingers picking at the gown she was wearing.
"We aren't sure, i think he is but Blaine is convinced otherwise, he's in denial" Cooper sobbed as Elizabeth pulled him in for a hug. Burt ran down the stairs with a furious look on his face as they had just woke him up.
"What is going on Elizabeth? Cooper, what are you doing here?" Burt asked in an angry voice.
"I'm sorry sir, i come with bad news. Kurt was attacked last night and he's missing, possibly dead." Cooper just managed to get the words out before the stream had overcome him. This whole thing, mostly about Blaine was too much for him. His brother was dead and turned into a vampire, these vampires destroyed his baby brother and there wasn’t much he could do about it. He was also upset about Kurt, knowing what this was doing to Blaine but also because he was friends with the boy.
"Kurt? No, surely not, where's Blaine? I tell you if he's done this then I'll kill him" Burt shouted, furious and upset.
"No Burt, Blaine was in a bad way when Cooper found him. Burt, it was vampires" Elizabeth whispered moving away from Cooper and walked towards her husband who looked faint. The colour drained from his face as he sat on the bottom step of the stairs.
"My Kurt, killed by vampires." Burt started crying.
"Yes, I’m sorry. Once i have Blaine feeling better we are going on the road to try and find the vampires that killed your son and we are going to torture them and stake them for what they did." Cooper said in a dark and bitter voice.
