“Now that wasn’t too bad now was it?” Cooper laughed while Quinn sat down. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah i’ll be okay in a minute.” Quinn breathed, smiling a little up at Cooper reassuringly.
“I thought you’d be used to it, you can run like me so what’s the problem?” Cooper asked.
“I can’t run as fast, half the speed, everything with us is half. That’s why i couldn’t heal myself after the crash.”
“I am really truly sorry about that. I am going to apologise to you for as long as we live.”
“Hey i know you’re sorry, you just need to feed when you need to so can we drop it now please?”
Cooper nodded and helped her up. He pulled her close to him giving her a hug; he could feel her heart beating, she felt sort of human, well she was half human and Cooper forgot that a lot of the time. He pushed her away and began walking towards the closest house.
“Cooper! Wait not so fast! What are we doing?” Quinn called running to his side.
Cooper knocked on the door of the house he had walked to. A woman answered, she must have been late twenties and there was a child in her arms. He felt bad for what he was about to do but Blaine needed him.
“Hello can i help you?” the woman asked, looking between the two and getting rather confused.
Cooper stepped forward onto the doorstep as the woman moved backwards. Cooper grabbed her arms and she struggled. Looking deep into her eyes he knew what he had to do.
“It’s okay I’m not going to hurt you, you are going to give me the keys to your car and then go and read a story to your baby.” Cooper said softly, Quinn looked incredibly shocked and unable to take in what he was doing.
“You’re not going to hurt me and I am going to give you my car keys, then i am going to go and read to my baby.” she repeated handing over the car keys, she closed the door and Cooper and Quinn jumped in the car. Cooper looked at Quinn; he couldn’t tell what her expression was trying to say.
“I know what you’re thinking, i shouldn’t have taken that car off that woman, she had a baby. But she has her family, i don’t have mine and i need to get it back.” Cooper said as he started driving off.
Quinn didn’t say anything all the while they were driving until they arrived half an hour later in Rotchdale.
“It’s a large city isn’t it? How are we going to find the Cornby house?” Quinn asked.
“Should we ask for directions? It could be up in one of the towns” Cooper suggested as Quinn nodded.
They pulled up on the side of the road and called to an elderly couple who didn’t know where it was when a group of men heard the conversation and agreed to help.
“You want the Cornby house? Hey Ernie, they want the Cornby house” one man said.
“I hear you Alf, the Cornby house hasn’t been the same since the murder.” Ernie sneered.
“What murder?” Cooper asked curiously.
“20 years ago a man murdered his wife after she was trying to leave him. He then killed his animals and children then shot himself. The bodies was in such bad shape there wasn’t much left of it when they found 'em.” Alf said grimly. “It’s been empty since.”
Cooper and Quinn looked at each other with grim expressions on their faces. If people were murdered there then it must be a dangerous place to hold Blaine.
“Can you tell us how to get there?” Quinn sighed.
“Why?” Ernie asked.
“Because we’re touring and we heard that the Cornby house had history but we didn’t know what and we didn’t want to know until we were told by the lovely people of this city.” Cooper said with a faint smile, hoping it would work. Cooper could tell that Ernie and Alf didn’t quite believe them.
“Fine, might as well tell 'em Ern, we don’t want trouble and anyway we got to get going there’ a drink in the ‘eads with our name on it.” Alf told him.
Ernie and Alf gave them the directions they needed and went off to the pub. Quinn sank back into her seat and looked at Cooper.
“Great, not only are we going to the most famous and disgusting place in the city, there are people that actually know we’re going and if we leave bodies those guys are going to be questioned and will tell the police everything they know on us.” Quinn sighed.
“Well i guess we’re going to have to try not to leave bodies in the house aren’t we.” Cooper muttered.
Cooper drove off driving in the directions that the men had told them. Quinn could see what was clearly the Cornby House. It was different to every other house around the gardens. It has an overgrown garden and boarded up windows, ivy crawled up the white walls to this old house. Quinn could sense that something was going to go seriously wrong with their rescue, but decided it was safer not to tell Cooper.
