The day after Kurt’s beatings he sat in the corner of the kitchen, wrapping old bits of cloth over his wounds. He looked up and saw the people in the kitchen looking at him, his step mother being one.
“You shouldn’t have done that, Kurt.” She said to him.
“Done what?” Kurt snapped his head up looking confused.
“Stolen the cloth.” She replied crouching down in front of him.
“Well if i hadn’t then no one else would. We need clothes down here and no one else has the guts to go and do it themselves.” Kurt got to his feet.
“Kurt, we’re fine as we are.” Carole’s face was lying, she knew they weren’t fine.
“No Carole, we aren’t fine as we are and you know it. Look at what you’re wearing and look at what i’m wearing. They are falling apart. King Sean is spoilt and selfish and he needs to be shown.”
Kurt saw someone in the corner of his eye looking at him, it was Prince Blaine, immediately he curtsied. “Your highness.”
“May I please speak with you? Alone preferably.” He asked the servant.
“Well I can’t exactly leave the kitchen, you heard the King, you were there.” Kurt reminded him.
“I order you to leave the kitchen and come with me.” Prince Blaine moved away from the door motioning for Kurt to leave before him which shocked Kurt but he didn’t say anything and did what he was told. Kurt followed the prince all the way until they reached a silent room.
“What is your name?” The prince asked, he was desperate to know.
“Why do you want to know so badly?” Kurt asked in reply.
“Don’t answer a question with a question.”
“Technically i didn’t answer it.” Kurt pointed out.
“Just please tell me your name.”
“Kurt.” Kurt said simply. “Kurt Hummel.”
“Is that what they did to you?” Prince Blaine asked pointing to the cuts all up Kurt’s arms, he knew the answer to that question already. Kurt just nodded. “I’m so sorry.
“Why are you sorry?” Kurt asked a bit puzzled.
“I could have stopped this, Kurt. I can stop it and I will. I promise.”
“How though? There isn’t a lot you can do.”
“Kurt, can i trust you?” Blaine asked looking at Kurt, he knew he could trust him, he just had this feeling that he could.
“Yes.” Kurt replied quickly.
“I’m... I’m gay, Kurt. If i tell my father it could either go two ways, he could change his views on homosexuality or he could disown me.” Blaine sighed; feeling like some huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
Kurt was smiling inside when Blaine told him he was gay, he knew deep down that he was. But it faded when he heard what the King could do to him. “If he did disown you, I would quit. I couldn’t stay because I know it would only get worse for me and other possible gay people here.”
“I would have to get Jeremiah out of here, i can’t let him stay here with such disgusting treatment. He’s not out yet but if he does come out when my father finds out about us then... He could be in serious trouble.”
“You and Jeremiah?” Kurt asked, his heart sunk. He was in love with Prince Blaine and hearing that he liked someone else just broke his heart.
“Yeah, well its not confirmed yet but i really like him.”
“Oh well, good luck with that. If you need help with anything you know “gay” related you can always ask me. I don’t know much but i can tell you what i do know.”
“Thanks Kurt. But i’m sure i know enough. Research and i’ve been told things you know, about sex and stuff.”
That was something he didn’t know about, Kurt had no idea how gay people had sex or anything like that. He was a baby penguin.
“Right well, I have to go back to the kitchens now.” Kurt went to leave but his hand was taken and the prince pulled him into a kiss. Kurt immediately kissed back but was confused, the prince admitted to liking someone else so why was he kissing Kurt. He pulled away after a minute and smiled at Kurt who was blushing deeply, he hadn’t expected that at all. Kurt smiled back before realising how wrong the situation was, Blaine was a prince and he was a servant. He remembered he was still holding his hand, squeezing it before he let go. “I should... go.”
“Yeah, bye Kurt.” Prince Blaine smiled and watched Kurt almost skip off. He had no idea why he kissed him; he liked Jeremiah so why would he do that? But it felt amazing, there were sparks and it made a feeling in his stomach that he had never felt before. What was this feeling?

Kurt reached the door to the kitchens and stopped, putting a hand to his lips and giggled to himself. Prince Blaine had kissed him, out of all people, he kissed him. The prince had taken his first kiss and he was so happy about it. But then he stopped and the large smile he had on his face slipped, Prince Blaine didn’t like him like that which made him suddenly feel used and angry. He couldn’t see the prince again, he couldn’t. He wanted the prince and he was in love with him but what just happened, he wasn’t sure what even happened because it all moved so fast and he didn’t like him like that. He wanted to cry. Kurt pushed the door open and walked inside, everyone turned to look at him as he settled back against the station. Mercedes came up behind him and put a hand on his shoulder.
“Boo, are you okay?” She asked rubbing his back.
Kurt swallowed his tears. “Y-yeah, i’m fine. I just need to get on with my work, now if you will leave me alone.”
“Boo...”
“Please.”
And Mercedes left him alone as he started working.

A week later the prince went to find Jeremiah and do what he had planned to with him, but he couldn’t get that kiss out of his head. He was trying to work out why he did it; this was Kurt, a dirty beaten servant who worked in the kitchen. Jeremiah was a servant but he was respectable, he made clothes and he was just an incredible man. He stopped in the door way and watched Jeremiah as he sew. Jeremiah was good looking he had no doubt about it but he wasn’t the most beautiful person he had ever seen, then Kurt popped into his head. “Jeremiah...” He started as he walked into the room, speaking to get the picture of Kurt out of his head.
“Prince Blaine, what a pleasure to see you again.” Jeremiah stood up and bowed.
“The gown is looking divine.” Blaine smiled, as he moved closer to Jeremiah. He looked into his eyes as he leaned closer to him.
“Thank you.” Jeremiah was looking down at the gown when he looked up he saw the prince’s lips not far from his own. He moved away and continued sewing. “I can’t.”
“Why can’t you? I like you and i know you like me.” Prince Blaine was gutted, he hadn’t expected that. How could someone turn down the prince? Kurt didn’t or maybe he was desperate.
“No one here knows I’m gay and I don’t want them to. You saw what they did to that boy last week. I don’t want that to happen to me. And your highness, let's just be clear here. You and I we’ve talked a few times, we're not dating and i’d get into serious trouble, you are the prince after all.” Jeremiah sighed and left the room leaving the young prince shocked.
