Blaine opened his eyes when he could barely hear the movie. “Where’d Harry Potter go?” He asked as Kurt wrapped his arm back around him. The pain was starting to subside, and Blaine sat up a little while still in Kurt’s arms. He reached for the apple juice and took a sip, thankful for Kurt buying it for him.
“Harry Potter is still there baby its okay i turned it down because your head was hurting” Kurt turned it up the smallest bit so it was clearer to be heard. He watched Blaine sip the apple juice glad he was drinking something, while Blaine was drinking it he leaned over and moved the tray onto the floor, Blaine still in his arms. He had to remember when Blaine was next asleep to dispose of the stuff Blaine didn’t use.
Blaine drank the rest of the apple juice and set the glass down on the tray after Kurt had moved it to the floor. He saw his phone resting on the pillow and a sudden thought entered his head. “We never called Burt, Carole, Reed, and my mom.” Blaine said slowly, wondering if Kurt remembered they still needed to do that.
“I’ll do that all later when you’re asleep. Don’t worry about a thing” Kurt smiled down at him. He made a mental note of that as well as a couple of other things. “I forgot to tell you, if you’re better before we have to go back i said we’d go and see Taylor and Jack and if you’re not they said they’d come and see you”
“That could be arranged.” Blaine said with a smile as he settled back down into Kurt’s chest. His eyes kept closing on him. He just slept…. he wasn’t allowed to be sleepy. Blaine didn’t want to fall asleep on Kurt again, but after a few minutes of neither of them talking Blaine fell into a light sleep, immediately drifting off into a dream.

Kurt heard Blaine’s breathing change and it was now steady like it was when he slept, he looked down to see him asleep. Kurt picked up Blaine’s phone and copied his mom’s number into his and rang it. He slid out from under Blaine and went outside.
“Hello?” Mrs Anderson answered the phone.
“Oh hi Mrs Anderson, its Kurt, Blaine’s fiance” he said. There was a scream on the other end and Kurt dropped his phone. He jumped back and waited a second before picking it up again.
“Oh my god thats so amazing, oh my god!” she kept screaming. “Where’s Blaine? Can i speak to him?”
“Oh er he’s asleep, he’s sick”
“Sick? Oh my poor Blaine, what’s wrong with him? Do you need me to come down?”
“No, no i can look after him, he’s been sick, got this horrible searing pain in his head and he’s burning up”
“Oh my Blaine” she started going on about all the different remedies he could use, but he had none of that in otherwise he’d probably give one a go.
“I need to go and check on Blaine now Mrs Anderson, i’ll talk to you soon”
“Okay Kurt, take care of him, send him my love bye”
“Of course, bye” He hung up and peered through the door to see Blaine still sleeping.

Blaine was by the river in his house in Vermont, skipping stones with Jack. It was a year or two back, and Jack looked even younger. Blaine has his afro of curls and was showing Jack how to skip rocks when the boy turned to him and asked him a question.
“Blainey, Tay’s real sad because she said….. said….” Blaine watched as Jack tried to remember the words. “…. said that you wouldn’t be her boy friend cause you didn’t like her.” Jack looked up at Blaine and had a giant gap between the words boy and friend. “I thought you liked us…” Jack said before turning back to the water, skipping a stone.

Kurt decided to call Reed next to make sure he wasn’t having panic attack. “Reed?”
“Oh hey Kurt, what’s up?”
“I wanted to apologize, this morning i was winding you up”
“You were? How?”
“Blaine did actually ask me last night”
“He did? And what did you say? Did you say yes? I bet you did didn’t you?”
“Reed shh for a second so i can answer at least one of your questions, yes he did ask me and yes i said yes” He could hear Reed’s voice lighten and was now excited.
“Wow Kurt thats so awesome, did he get the candles and everything like that?”
“Yes Reed he did, look i have to go”
“Okay, say hi to Blaine for me, ooooooh i’m so happy for you guys. Congratulations”
“Thanks Reed, i will bye” Kurt hung up and turned back to the door, he was still asleep.
“I do like her. And you, don’t worry.” Blaine squatted so he could look for a stone before Jack came and stood right infront of his fact.
“Then why won’t you be her… boy friend?” Jack asked having trouble remembering that phrase. “Tay said it was because you didn’t like her. But you just said you do. Why then? She’s sad, Blainey….” Jack said, looking sad himself. Blaine’s mind flooded with the memory of how he had to reject Taylor, and how she looked like she was torn to pieces.
“It’s not that I can’t be her boyfriend because I don’t like her….”
“Then why?”

Kurt decided to take the tray downstairs before calling his dad and Carole. He washed up the dishes and put toast in the trash before topping up his glass with more apple juice and took one of the cartons up with him. He put the glass and the carton on the side next to the bed, he leaned down and gave Blaine a soft kiss. Kurt dialled his dads number and stood back outside the door watching Blaine and waiting for an answer.
“Dad?”
“Hi Kurt, you okay?”
“Yeah i’m fine, look i er i have something to tell you”
“I know”
“Huh?”
“Blaine proposed, i knew he was going to i saw the ring”
“Oh yeah Blaine told me you knew after he did”
“You said yes am i right?” “Yeah dad, i said yes. It was obvious”
“Oh yeah of course, how is Blaine?”
“He’s really sick, he’s asleep at the moment”
“Really sick? What’s wrong? Is it contagious?”
“No dad his friend said it wasn’t so i should be okay, he’s got horrible head pains, sickness, goes from hot to cold in seconds and he’s burning up”
“Sounds serious Kurt, have you rung someone to come and look at him?”
“No not yet, i was going to give it a while longer to see how he is, if he’s still as bad as he is now or worse then i’ll call them”
“Keep me updated”
“Sure dad, i’ll try and ring you tonight, can you tell Carole everything please?”
“Sure Kurt, i’ll talk to you later”
“Love you dad”
“I love you too son”
Kurt hung up; he leaned against the door frame watching Blaine sleep.

Jack stared up at Blaine, waiting for an answer. He sighed and put a hand on Jack’s shoulders. He began to explain to the child how he couldn’t date his sister because he didn’t like girls. Jack was confused and started talking about his own girlfriend, which surprised Blaine that a kid who hadn’t even turned five had a girlfriend. Blaine patiently explained, and Jack stood there looking at him when he was done.
“Tell Tay. I don’t want her to stay sad.” Blaine nodded and pulled Jack into a hug. Kids were so understanding sometimes, never questioning, accepting their friends for whatever they may be. Jack hugged him back, a bit confused as to why Blaine was hugging him.
“Even if Tay is mad at you, you’re still my superhero Blainey.” The dream ended and Blaine shot up in bed, breathing a bit more heavy as the memory stayed in his mind.

Kurt watched Blaine shoot up and breathe heavily. “Blaine?!” He ran to his side, he took his hand. He put his other hand to his face, it was hotter than before and he was sweating even more. “Blaine, baby i’m here” he climbed back on the bed and held Blaine in his arms. “Was it a bad dream?”
Blaine shook his head and buried his face in Kurt’s shoulder, still breathing heavily. He wrapped his arms around Kurt and pulled him into a tight hug, remembering the memory he had just dreamed about. He remembered how as soon as he drove Jack home and was alone in his car, he bawled for a long time until Taylor finally came out to ask what was wrong with Jack at her heels. Blaine explained to Taylor everything he had told Jack and was pulled into a hug like the one he was getting from Kurt now. “No…. not bad at all.” Blaine said to Kurt, his voice quavering a bit.
“Are you sure? It didn’t seem like that, you just… you just shot up and you’re breathing was really heavy, like now” Kurt hugged him tight. “You’re even hotter than you were earlier and you’re sweating even more. I-i think i should call someone, someone to come and look at you”
Blaine refused to let go of Kurt, but nodded at what he said. “If you really want.” He said, holding on to Kurt tight. “……Kurt? Can I ask you something?” Blaine said slowly, his head spinning. He needed to lie back down, but he didn’t want to let go of Kurt.
“I can’t watch you get any worse, i need someone who knows what they’re doing to look at you” Kurt still held onto him. “Of course you can, you can ask me anything” He said, he gently lay Blaine down and sat beside him stroking his hair with one hand and the otherholding onto one of Blaine’s.

Blaine couldn’t remember what he was going to ask as an even greater pain then before shot through his head. He squeezed Kurt’s hand, trying to tell him that without talking. Blaine’s eyes closed and he shivered, even though he was sweating. “I…. I’m sorry Kurt.”

“Yes I do….. I ruined it.” Blaine said as Kurt walked out of the room. He leaned back onto the pillow and opened his eyes, staring at the ceiling. Kurt hadn’t come back in yet. Great. Ruined it. Blaine let his arm lay over his eyes, trying to block out the overhead light. It wasn’t working, and Blaine rolled over so he was face down on the bed. There, much better. Now where was Kurt….
Kurt finished the call and leaned against the wall, he tried to stop the tears. He took a deep breath and wiped them away before going back to sit beside him. He felt too quick to respond to what Blaine said but now he could do it. “You haven’t ruined anything i promise”
Blaine rolled over when he heard Kurt’s voice. “Yes, I have…. if I wasn’t sick everything would be perfect. But I’m sick, making you worry, and just flat out ruining everything.” Blaine said before picking up his head and resting it on Kurt’s leg. “Did you call someone?”
“No, no its fine. You haven’t ruined it” Kurt stroked his hair as his head rested on his leg. “Yeah i did, i called 911, i’m sorry i had to. You’re getting worse and i can’t sit back and watch you, i’m sorry”

“Why are you sorry?” Blaine asked, opening his eyes to look up at Kurt. “It’s not your fault that I’m sick….” He bit his lip. He couldn’t take seeing Kurt so worried about him. “….when are they going to be here?” Blaine asked slowly, still looking up at Kurt as his hair was being stroked.
“I’m sorry that i can’t look after you myself and that i have to get someone else to do it, i feel like i’ve failed you” the tears were back in Kurt’s eyes. “They’ll be here soon, i’m going to have to ring your mom and let her know. She’ll probably come down, she asked if she should earlier but i said no”
Blaine lifted his head off of Kurt’s leg and sat up, turning to face him despite his light-headedness. “You haven’t failed me, not even in the slightest. In sickness and in health, right? That’s how the vow goes last time I checked. You’ve taken such good care of me that I’m surprised I wasn’t instantly better. Kurt, there is no way you have failed me. I love you so so so so so much.” Blaine pulled Kurt towards him into a bear hug he hoped would never end. “Okay. That’s fine. You can go home when she gets here if you can’t stand to see me like this. I’ll understand.”
“I’m not going anywhere, I’m going to stay with you every minute I’m not going to leave your side” He held Blaine tight. “I love you so so much, i just want you better” he cried. “I’m going to have to ring your mom; do you want to talk to her? Oh sorry I’m so stupid, it’ll hurt your head, sorry. I’ll do it” He picked up the phone and called Blaine’s mom.
“Kurt hey, how’s Blaine? Is he any better? Or is he worse? Do i need to come down?”
Kurt took a second before answering, his voice was shaky. “He’s worse, i’ve called 911 and they’ll be here shortly. I think you should come down”
“Right i’m on my way, i just have to get his dad and we’ll leave, thank you Kurt bye”
Kurt looked down at Blaine. “Your parents are coming”

Blaine watched as Kurt called his mom, both of them on the edge of tears. He listened to the conversation Kurt was having, only hearing one side of it. When Kurt hung up and told him that his parents were coming down. Blaine took a deep breath and swallowed before saying something. “… both of them?”
“Yeah both of them, your mom said she was going to get your dad and then come down. She hung up before i could say anything” Kurt looked down at Blaine, a bit nervous. “Blaine, does your dad know about us?”
Blaine nodded when Kurt asked if his dad knew about them. “Yeah, he does. I don’t know if he knows about the engagement though.” He said as he looked up at Kurt. He raised one of his hands and rested it on Kurt’s cheek, his thumb stroking the skin. “Don’t worry.” Even though Blaine was worried, scared to death about the thought that his dad and Kurt might be alone together, he didn’t want Kurt to be any more stressed.
Kurt looked down at him and smiled sadly as Blaine put his hand to his cheek and stroked it. “I’m only worried about you” he took the hand on his face and squeezed it. “I don’t want you to worry about a thing okay? Just concentrate on getting better, I’m not going anywhere and i wouldn’t want to be anywhere else”
Blaine smiled as Kurt spoke and brought Kurt’s hand to his lips so he could kiss it. He moved it to rest on his forehead once he was done kissing it and looked up at Kurt. “You…. you should probably call Taylor and Jack. Just to tell them what’s going on, since you told them I’m sick.”
“Yeah that’s a good idea, i’ll do that” Kurt dialled Taylor’s number.
“Hello? Who’s this?”
“Oh sorry, i forgot to tell you earlier, Its Kurt, i got your number from Blaine’s phone”
“Hey Kurt, how’s he doing?”
“He’s worse, much worse i called 911”
“What? He’s that bad?”
“Yeah, i-we-i just thought i’d let you know. His parents are coming down to see him”
“Right we’ll try and see him later today, if not today then definitely tomorrow, thanks Kurt” There was a knock at the door.
“I have to go Taylor they’re here”
“Okay Kurt, bye” Kurt hung up and looked at Blaine. “They’re here, i’ll go and let them in” He gave Blaine a kiss before leaving the room to open the door.

Blaine watched as Kurt left the room and called out to him before he was out of earshot. Kurt came running back in the room, and Blaine just pointed at him. He watched as Kurt looked at himself. “Babe, you’re still in your boxers. Knowing you, you might want to put something on before people come in here.”
Kurt came back into the room; he forgot he was still in his boxers. “Thank you baby, i forgot” Kurt quickly put on his pants and his shirt before going to the door. He opened it letting the paramedics in, they went upstairs to where Blaine was, and Kurt followed.
Blaine just laid there, staring at the ceiling, when Kurt and the paramedics walked in. One came over and immediacy started examining Blaine, while the other stood with Kurt and discussed what was wrong with Blaine. Blaine had forgotten that he himself was still in only boxers, but the paramedics didn’t seem to care.
Kurt told the paramedics what was wrong with Blaine and stood helplessly as the paramedics poked and prodded at Blaine. “What’s going on?” He asked one of the paramedics.
One of the paramedics looked at Kurt, then back at Blaine. “We have to see what’s wrong before we can know for sure.” She said before excusing herself to go and help the other paramedics with Blaine. Blaine was a bit uncomfortable having these people mess with him, but he knew it had to be done. He couldn’t even see Kurt for all of the bodies in the way. “Kurt?” He called out, just to make sure his fiance was still there.
“I’m here!” Kurt called, he was crying, one of the paramedics was holding him back otherwise he’d run to Blaine’s side. “Can’t they hurry up?” He asked desperate to know what was wrong with Blaine. “The longer they take the worse he’s going to get”
One of the paramedics walked up to Kurt and began talking. “Okay, we’re not exactly sure what’s wrong with him, but we think we can make it better if we take him in. Would you be okay with that?” Blaine sat up when he heard the paramedic say that and looked to Kurt, wondering what he would say.
Kurt looked from Blaine to the paramedic, his face distraught. “You don’t know? You’re supposed to know. Its your job!” Kurt was crying more, what if there was something seriously wrong with him? He couldn’t lose him, the thought just made him cry even harder. He nodded when they asked if he was okay with them taking him in. “C-can i g-go with him?”
“Of course you can. We’re going to carry him downstairs, okay?” The paramedic walked away from Kurt and joined the others to pick Blaine up. Blaine squirmed when they did, looking for Kurt. “Kurt? Kurt?” Blaine called out, looking for his fiance in the crowd of people that had went into Blaine’s room.
“I’m right here” Kurt called back to Blaine he could see him squirming. He slid through the group of people to Blaine’s side, one of the paramedics tried to move him away. “No! I’m staying here, i’m right here i’m not going anywhere” Kurt held onto Blaine’s hand and squeezed it.

Blaine squeezed Kurt’s hand in response when he walked up to him as he was being carried. “Kurt? Are… are you going to tell my parents where we are? So they don’t freak out when they come over to an empty house? How about Burt and Carole? Are you okay?” Blaine kept spitting out questions, trying to distract himself. “You’re coming with, right? Do you need to run and get a few things before we leave? Like my phone and keys or something?” The questions weren’t working as another pain shot through his head.
“I’ll call them all in a second, of course i’m coming with you, i’m not going to leave you. I’ll pack you some things and then i’ll be right with you again okay?” Kurt said, he ran to Blaine’s stuff and chucked some clothes and a pair of pyjamas in a bag along with his phone and the keys. He picked up his phone before writing a note and followed the paramedics with Blaine outside; he locked the door behind them and stuck the note on the door before running back to Blaine’s side. “I’m here”
Blaine nodded as Kurt ran back up the stairs, looking frantic. The paramedics kept asking him questions when Kurt was gone; telling Blaine to tell them how he really was feeling now that Kurt was gone. Blaine was confused but said he felt the same. The paramedics were just worried he was lying when Kurt was there just to make him feel better, which he wouldn’t even think about doing. Once he was outside the sun practically blinded him, and he covered his eyes with his hands, only to uncover them when he heard Kurt’s voice. “You’re back.” Blaine stated simply with an attempt to smile.
“Yeah i’m back, i left a note on the door letting your parents know where we’ve gone and i’ll call them soon to tell them as well” Kurt looked down at Blaine feeling completely helpless, he was still crying. He saw his attempt to smile and tried to back but it went all wonky because he was crying. He watched as the paramedics put him in the ambulance and he followed in behind.
Blaine saw that Kurt was crying and felt really bad. He was about to say something when he was lifted up into the ambulance and couldn’t see Kurt anymore. He knew that Kurt was coming with him though, so he didn’t panic. “So this is what the inside of an ambulance looks like…” Blaine said as he saw Kurt climb into the back with him. The paramedic on his right laughed. “That’s not usually what we people say when they’re put into an ambulance for the first time.” She noticed before beginning to take Blaine’s temperature.

Kurt smiled when Blaine said about what the ambulance looked like on the inside, he climbed in to the back of the ambulance and watched as one of the paramedics took Blaine’s temperature. Kurt desperately waited for the nurse to move so he could stand next to his fiancee who needed him. He stood and smiled at him, he wiped the tears from his eyes and looked at his phone, just as he did it started ringing.
“Its your mom Blaine, i’m just going to take this” Kurt answered the phone and stepped out of the ambulance.
“Kurt, what’s happening? How is he feeling? Is he any better? We’re on our way” A load of questions fired his way; Blaine was just like his mom.
“No he’s worse, he’s in the ambulance right now, we’re about to leave for the hospital. I’ll see you there” Kurt had to hang up because it looked like they were ready to go. He climbed inside as they shut the doors. “What’s his temperature?”
