“Yeah you did, but you didn’t miss me shirtless so its not all bad.” He laughed. His eyes rolled to the top of his head when Blaine kissed his neck. He watched him pull away and go to sort out the covers. “I’m surprised you’re even bothering, i thought you like mess.” He smiled unfolding his shirt.
“But you like everything neat and in order.” Blaine said, reaching over to the other side to smooth the covers where Kurt slept too. He watched as Kurt unfolded his shirt and put it on.
His phone vibrated, Reed again. After responding, he looked up at Kurt and ran his hand through his hair. His hair. He walked over towards the bathroom. “Where are you going?” Blaine heard Kurt ask. “My hair gel is calling me…” He teased, leaving the door open for Kurt to follow and try to protest.
Kurt sighed, smiling and rolled his eyes. “You are your hair gel...” He didn’t even try and stop Blaine. He followed him to watch him and possibly help him but not to stop, he did like Blaine’s gelled hair. Kurt liked Blaine’s hair no matter how it looked. He leaned against the wall and watched as Blaine began to put the hair gel on.
Blaine looked at Kurt through the mirror and smiled, making a face at him. When he was done, he wiped his hands off on a towel and turned to face Kurt, smiling. “The curls are no more.” He teased, leaning against the sink. “Do you want to eat first or go home?”
“No more curls.” Kurt smiled back. “I’ll just eat at home, i’ll probably just have toast or something since its going to take me forever to pack.”
“Okay.” Blaine said with a shrug. “We’re going to have to take separate cars. You’re car is here and I have to go pick Reed up. Is that okay?”
“Of course we are silly, how else would i get home?” He laughed. “You’re picking me up in your car right? And yeah i guess its okay, have fun out with Reed while i’m all alone in my house with my toast.” He grinned.
“Awwww, you sound sad.” Blaine teased back, walking back into his room with Kurt following. He picked up his shirt he slept in last night and tossed it to Kurt. “Here. Take this. Something for you to remember me by while I’m gone.” He laughed, watching as Kurt folded up the shirt. “You ready?”
“I am sad.” He said following Blaine back to his room. He held the shirt in his hands and smiled. “Thank you, it won’t leave my side.” He laughed folding it up. “Yeah i’m ready.” He sighed.
“Let’s go.” Blaine said, smiling and draping his arm over Kurt’s shoulder and leading Kurt down the stairs. Thankfully, neither of his parents were awake. He led Kurt out to the cars. “This is where I leave you, my love.” Blaine teased, leaning in to kiss Kurt. “I’m going to come pick you up when I’m done.”
Kurt picked up his bag and followed Blaine out to the cars. He was grateful that Blaine’s parents were awake. “Yup this is where we part against my will” he pouted before Blaine kissed him, he kissed him back not wanting to pull away. “You better otherwise i’ll have to come and find you.” He said with a small smile on his face. He kissed Blaine again before getting into his car, he blew Blaine a kiss before pulling out and driving away.
Blaine was still smiling as he texted Reed before pulling out of the driveway. “I’m on my way.” He drove towards Reef’s house, singing along loudly to the radio. When he got to Reed’s house, he pulled out his phone again and texted Reed that he was there.
Reed looked at his phone to see a text from Blaine letting him know he was there. He pulled on his jacket and practically ran down the stairs. His mom told him off for running and making so much noise whilst doing so. “Sorry mom, Blaine’s outside and we have something really important to do.” After an earful he went outside and climbed in the passengers seat. “Hey, sorry i would have been quicker but mom was giving me an earful.”
“It’s okay, it’s okay.” Blaine said, laughing. Reed looked annoyed and out of breath. “Kurt has no idea what’s going on. All he knows is that I’m going somewhere with you and he’s not allowed to go.” Blaine told Reed as he drove away from his house.
“Poor Kurt but its all worth it.” He smiled mood increasing. “So what did you tell him? And where is he now?”
“It is worth it.” Blaine said, grinning. “I just told him you were helping me with something. He was wondering why he couldn’t help…. I had to tell him it’s so he can pack for Vermont. He should be getting home right about now. You can text him from my phone and find out.” Blaine said, tossing Reed his phone. He forgot that the picture of him and Kurt was the background.
Reed took Blaine’s phone and looked at the background. “Oh Blaine, you are just adding to the cuteness.” He laughed before beginning to text Kurt. “Did you get home okay? Didn’t make any wrong turns?” A minute later a reply came through.
“Oh ha-ha Blaine, yeah i got home okay. Just making the toast that you owe me for the countless shoulder views.” Reed’s eye brows rose and he tried not to laugh. He repeated the text to Blaine and then cracked up laughing.
Blaine cracked up with Reed when he read Kurt’s text.
“I couldn’t help it!” Blaine said between laughs. He remembered Wes saying that showing Blaine his shoulder was sex for Kurt. When they calmed down, Blaine watched as Reed texted back.”What are you two saying?”
“Oh nothing, nothing. I’m just sending a really sappy Blaine text.” He lied. He actually sent. “I’ll make you a truck load of toast later if you show me more.” A minute later a reply came through.
“What more can i show you Blaine? I was in your room in just my boxers so you could have looked then but you chose not to.” Reed cracked up laughing again, he could see Blaine looking at him confused, he tried to control himself but it wasn’t working.
Reed was cracking up, confusing Blaine even more. What were they saying? He stopped at a red light and took the phone from Reed, who was still laughing. Blaine scrolled through the texts and his jaw dropped. He picked up the empty water bottle in the cup holder and threw it at Reed. “Reed! That wasn’t a really sappy Blaine text!” Blaine said, trying to hide a smile through his glare. He texted Kurt back. “That was Reed. Disregard any of those texts. Did you get home alright?”
“I’m sorry i couldn’t resist.” He laughed as the bottle hit him. Reed looked at Blaine who was texting Kurt. Who returned the text
“Oh…. that was Reed? I’m so embarrassed. Yeah i got home fine, almost got lost but i found my way. House is empty like i thought it would be, so its just me and my toast.”
“You poor thing. At least you’ve got my shirt :P” Blaine put his phone back into his pocket, being sure not to give it back to Reed. “Okay, where exactly are we going to get this ring? I wouldn’t know where to begin… ” He asked, turning his head to look at Reed, who had calmed down from his laughter.
“Hey you’re the one who wants to buy it not me, you must have some idea?” Reed asked after calming down. Blaine shook his head, Reed sighed and gave him a place.
“Thanks. If you can’t tell, I’m clueless…” Blaine drove to the place Reed mentioned and pulled out his phone to read the text from Carole he saved about Kurt’s ring size. Blaine’s eyebrows rose, and he laughed before getting out of the car. “Turns out Kurt and I have the same ring size.” He said, walking in step with Reed towards the store.
“Thats handy and a bit weird.” Reed laughed getting out of the car. He led the way into the store. “Do you have any ideas on what you’re looking for?”
“….. a ring. I know I’m looking for a ring.” Blaine said with a laugh, walking towards the ring section of the store with Reed following. “I don’t really know to be honest. If I did, I wouldn’t have brought you with me.”
“I know you’re looking for a ring! That’s what most people generally use to propose with.” He laughed following Blaine to the ring section. “We have to think like Kurt, time to switch our feminine minds on.”
“We don’t have to be extremely feminine, we just have to think like Kurt, like you said earlier.” Blaine looked down at the long row of rings. Women’s section, no that’s not where they need to be… he walked down the row farther until he got to the men’s section. “Right. Here is what we’ve got to work with.”
Reed shuffled to stand next to Blaine in the men’s section. They were looking when the assistant disrupted them. “Good morning gentlemen, do you need some help?” The man asked. Reed looked at Blaine who was looking at the man, his name tag said Greg.
Blaine jumped a little bit when he heard a voice behind him, and he turned around, not knowing what to expect. As soon as he turned around, someone with a name tag that said Greg was standing there and smiling at them. Blaine looked him over for a second before smiling in return. This Greg guy was definitely gay. “I don’t know, do we Reed?” Blaine asked, turning towards Reed for some input.
“Oh er no we don’t know.” Reed said looking from Blaine to Greg. Greg smiled obviously assuming that Reed and Blaine were a couple. “Well by the looks of you, i can see your tastes going into this direction.” he said pointing to the top corner where the tackiest rings were.
Blaine was about to say something in protest, but his phone rang. He picked it up from his pocket, looking at the name. Kurt. He shot Reed a look saying who it was and excused himself. “I’ll be right back, I have to take this.” Blaine said, breaking away from Greg and Reed to answer the phone. He talked to Kurt for few minutes, leaving Reed alone with Greg, hoping Reed was helping Greg out to figure out what Blaine needed.
Reed shot Blaine a desperate look, he didn’t want to be left alone with Greg. Greg leaned on the counter. “So who proposed?” He asked.
Reed looked round to make sure that Greg wasn’t sure that he wasn’t talking to someone else. “Oh er him, he’s going to it.”
Greg nodded. “Thought so, He seems like the man in the relationship.”
Reed’s eyes widened. “Oh you didn’t think… that me and him? Nooo way, he’s on the phone to his boyfriend now thats who we’re choosing the ring for.”
Greg smiled leaning over further. “So that means your single? Let me give you number” Reed looked petrified and looked round desperately for Blaine.
Blaine hung up the phone and walked back to where Greg and Reed were standing. He caught the last part of the conversation and saw Reed become petrified. “Sorry about that. I would’ve been back sooner, but your boyfriend called, Reed. Answer your phone next time, he’s worried sick.” Blaine flashed Reed a wink. “He said its fine that you’re out with me, he was just worried that you weren’t picking up your phone. He gets so jealous, it’s actually adorable.” Blaine turned towards Greg with a smile. “So? What’d you guys figure out while I was gone?”
Reed was about to say they found nothing when a ring caught his eye. He pushed Greg’s arms off the counter and leaned in for a closer look. “Blaine… what about this one?” He pointed to it and turned to look at Blaine.
Blaine leaned in so he could get a look at what Reed found. It was perfect. “Reed… you are a genius. Kurt would loooove that!” Blaine exclaimed, becoming excited. He turned towards Greg. “Could we see that one?” Blaine asked, looking back at Reed who look almost as excited.
“I think he really would.” He smiled widely as Blaine looked at it. Greg pulled out the ring and gave it to Blaine. Reed stood closer to Blaine so he could have a better look. “Its beautiful.”
Blaine turned the ring over in his hands, grinning like an idiot when he remembered where he had seen it. It was the one from his dreams about him and Kurt being married. The exact same one. He shot Reed a look. “Yeah, I want this one for him.” Blaine said, looking back down at the ring in his hand.
Greg smiled and took the ring from Blaine. Reed looked Blaine with a wide smile, he was so excited. “He’s gonna love it, i just know it.” Greg marked up the price and gave it to Blaine while he put the ring in a box.
Blaine could care less about the price of the ring; he knew it was the one he was getting no matter what. He paid Greg and took the box, still grinning like an idiot. “Thank you!” He called out, and he and Reed walked out of the store and to the car. Blaine was practically floating he was so excited.
Reed and Blaine walked as fast as they could out of the store. Reed couldn’t believe that Blaine had actually brought it and it was actually happening. “Do you think its better if i drive?” Reed asked.
“Probably.” Blaine said, grinning still. He slipped into the passenger side of the car and watched as Reed drove away from the store. He took the box from out of his pocket and opened it, staring at the ring he had just bought. He was so happy.
Reed pulled away from the store still smiling, Blaine was just so happy and it made him happy. Every now and then he looked over at Blaine who was staring at the ring. “It is real Blaine, this is really happening.” He smiled at him, he could see how happy Blaine looked and really hoped that Kurt would be happy too, he had no doubt that Kurt would say yes considering the way he was talking last night.
“It hasn’t happened yet.” Blaine said, looking up at Reed with a smile. That boy was a lifesaver, Blaine thought to himself. “Do you want to hear my plan?” He asked Reed, who nodded quickly. The rest of the car ride consisted of Blaine telling Reed how he planned to propose to Kurt, and his plan ended right as they got to Reed’s house. “…. what do you think?”
Reed was speechless by the time Blaine had finished explaining his plan. “W-wow!” He just managed to get out. “I love it, its so romantic and he’ll love it so much.” He looked at Blaine who had an erasable smile on his face. “How are you going to explain that smile to him? I expect that you’ll have it all the way until you do it and then he’ll say yes and then the smile will grow.”
“Thank you.” Blaine was still grinning. “I’m not sure…. I’ll just say that I came up with a brilliant idea of something to do in Vermont, which little does he know I actually did. I’ll tell him its a surprise and won’t tell him anything more.” Blaine was still smiling when he took off his seatbelt to take the driver’s seat when Reed got out. “You think so? I hope he says yes…” Blaine said, walking out of the car and around to Reed’s side so he could take Reed’s seat.
Reed jumped out of the car. “Blaine, i know he’ll say yes. Last night you were all he could talk about, he was saying how much he wanted to marry you and now that chance is here. He won’t turn you down.” He smiled widely. “I can promise you that”
Blaine’s smile grew and he looked down into his hands. “Again, thank you so much for coming today Reed. It means so much.” He have Reed a quick hug before getting into the car and after making sure Reed got in the house, he drove away towards Kurt’s house. Once there, he didn’t text Kurt saying he was there. Blaine texted Carole, who said she was home and he wanted to show her something. Carole came to the door and smiled, letting him in the house.
Carole answered the door to Blaine inviting him in. “Hey honey, come on in, Kurt’s upstairs packing. He has been since well i don’t know because i haven’t long been back. Poor thing is going to wear himself out, he’s been running all of the place.”
Blaine looked around and looked up the stairs to make sure Kurt wasn’t coming. He pulled Carole into the living room and out of the sight of the stairs. He smiled and took a deep breath. “Carole… look.” He took the box from his pocket slowly and handed to to Carole, not sure what kind of reaction he was going to get.
When Blaine got out the box Carole knew exactly what it was. She took the box in her hands and slowly opened it. One hand went over her mouth in shock and to stop herself from screaming. “Blaine, its beautiful.” She managed to say muffled from behind her hand. She moved her hand from her mouth onto where her heart was. “He’ll love it, i know it.”
Blaine breathed a sigh of relief when Carole looked so excited. “You think so?” He asked, still grinning from before. He stood next to her, looking down at the ring in her hands. He took the box, taking the ring out and turning it around his his hand like he did in the store. He put it back in the box and kept on smiling.
“Most definitely.” She smiled widely at him putting an arm around him, the box still in her other hand. “I really happy for you two, honest to god i am. Oh dear me i’m going to be smiling for the rest of the day now, i know you will be too.” There were footsteps running down the stairs, Blaine quickly put the ring into his pocket as Kurt burst into the room. Luckily he was in too much of a hurry to notice. “What are you doing here? I thought you were out with Reed?” He panted.
Blaine stuffed the box back into his pocket, hoping Kurt wouldn’t notice. “Oh, I was going to come up and surprise you, but Carole had some questions about Vermont.” Blaine said quickly. He noticed Kurt was panting. “Don’t work yourself to death.” Blaine teased, walking over towards him. He turned back towards Carole and waved, following Kurt back up into his room.
“I’m not i’m packing, this is what i’m like when i pack especially under a time limit.” He panted again, he forgot what he came down for and turned and went back up the stairs with Blaine following. His room didn’t look like what it did before, there were things all over the floor.
Blaine walked into Kurt’s room, surprised at what he saw. “Do… do you want some help?” He asked, watching as Kurt franticly went around his room. He scooted some things on the bed over a bit, giving him a place to sit. His hand went into his pocket, stroking the velvet box he had kept in there.
“You know what, i would love some.” He stopped for a second to catch his breath. “Can you put those in that bag neatly for me please? I need to find something.” He continued to look for what he was looking for.
“Of course.” Blaine stood up and did as he was told, putting the clothes neatly into the bag Kurt pointed to. He actually was being pretty neat, due to the fact he was trying to channel his happiness into concentration. When he was done he looked up to see Kurt franticly looking for something. “Whatcha looking for?” Blaine ask, grin coming back onto his face.
“I’ll show you if i find it.” He began rummaging through his drawers. He picked up his journal and threw it to Blaine. “Put that in there too please.” He kept muttering “where is it?” over and over again. He gave up and then went to sit on the bed and help Blaine sort the clothes neatly. “Sorry about that, i forgot to ask how’d your errand with Reed go?”
Blaine didn’t look through Kurt’s journal and put it in the bag. Kurt must’ve given up on what he was looking for and he sat down next to Blaine, helping him pack Kurt. “Oh, our errand? It went… awesome.” Blaine said for lack of a better word. His grin creeped back up and he thought about the box in his pocket. “What were you looking for? Maybe I could help…” Blaine said, trying to change the subject so he didn’t accidentally spill what happened.
“Thats good, as long as its sorted. How’s Reed? I never got to thank him for those messages.” He smiled folding up a shirt. “What was i looking for? It doesn’t matter now i can’t find it anyway. Sorry about me being like this, i normally have more time and i wanted to make sure i had everything and it was all perfect for you.”
“Reed’s good. This guy tried to pick him up while we were running our errand though. It was hilarious.” Blaine said, laughing and folding up Kurt’s clothes. He though he was doing an okay job. “It’s fine, don’t apologize. As long as you have everything you need, it will be perfect for me.” Blaine’s mind went back to the box in his pocket, making him smile as he crossed his legs and folded up more of Kurt’s clothes. “How much more do we have to do?”
“What did Reed say?” Kurt asked picking up a pile of clothes and put them back into his drawer. “I now have everything i need, i just need to put it in the bag. We just have these to put in there.” He pointed to few items of clothes on the bed next to Blaine.
“Reed didn’t talk at all. He was petrified.” Blaine said, taking the clothes Kurt pointed to on the bed and putting them in the bag they were packing.
Kurt began folding his red leather pants and put them in his bag. “I just remembered what i was looking for! And where it is!” He jumped up and ran from the room.
Blaine's eyebrows shot up when Kurt put his red leather pants in the bag, and he silently cheered in his head. He watched, confused, as Kurt ran out of the room. Blaine let his hand go to the box in his pocket, feeling it. He smiled and laid back on the bed, waiting for Kurt.
