“A whole family to win over, but I’m sure you’ll do that with ease because you’re so sweet and charming.” he laughed, he loved the feel of Blaine’s hand running through his hair, he put his hand on Blaine’s chest snuggling closer to him. He was mainly talking about Blaine’s family; he’d have to win them over too.
“Carole would be easier to win approval from than Finn… maybe you can get Rachel to sway him.” Blaine loved the feel of Kurt’s hand on his chest, and he snuggled his head into Kurt’s hair. “I’ve still got one Hummel to win over.”
“You and Finn got on great at Rachel’s party and i doubt he would care much who i married, dad would still be the hardest one to completely win over and prove that you are Kurt marriage material.” Kurt laughed. He loved it when Blaine rested his head on his hair. Kurt moved his finger in little circles like he’d done earlier that evening knowing that he liked it.
“Yeah… I know Burt likes me, but not enough. And that wasn’t the Hummel I was referring to.” Blaine lifted his head to kiss the top of Kurt’s, hoping Kurt caught his drift. Harry was riding a broom and chasing Draco. “Go Draco, go son!”
“You’ve still got another Hummel to win over?” Kurt asked confused. “But there’s only me, wait me? You’ve still got to win me over?”
Blaine left Kurt’s questions unanswered and tightened his grip on the boy. “Aww, look, poor Harry looks like he is getting into trouble. We’re going to see the gorgeous Mr. Wood soon, though, so it should get better.” Blaine teased. “And our Draco got off Scott free. Sneaky little boy.”
“Well done Draco” Kurt said not paying much attention. He wanted to know what Blaine meant, it confused him and made him wonder. “You never answered my question.” he asked looking up at Blaine.
Blaine didn’t want to answer. He regretted saying that in the first place He just couldn’t…. say…..”Which question are you talking about? I thought I answered them all….” Blaine said with the smallest of smiles. A small part of him knew Kurt wasn’t going to stop questioning him, but he could still try.
Kurt sat up and looked at Blaine. “You know what question I’m on about the one where i asked when you said that you still had another Hummel to win over.”
“Oh right…..” Blaine looked around the room, avoiding the answer. “I…. I hope I’ve already won over yo… your dad. A-and you.” He stuttered, not wanting to go on and remind Kurt of what today was. “So…. so I was… just….”
“Me? You won me over when you first spoke to me and you know that” Kurt sighed. “You were just what?”
Blaine closed his eyes. Kurt didn’t understand. “Y-you’re not getting it, Kurt. I’m…. I’m not talking about you.” Blaine buried his head in his pillow, not wanting to have to go on. Kurt was just starting to feel better, and there Blaine went, having to go and remind him.
“Then who are you…” then Kurt realized. He saw in the corner of his eye that Blaine had buried his head in the pillow; he sighed and closed his eyes running his fingers through his hair.
Blaine heard Kurt trail off, knowing that he finally caught on. He silently yelled at himself. Why in the world did he say that? Why? Everything was going smoothly. Kurt was feeling better. Blaine had done his job. And for some reason, he had to go and ruin it. He bit his lip, knowing Kurt couldn’t see him because his head was still buried in the pillow. Stupid, stupid, stupid….
“I need to go the bathroom, I’ll be right back.” Kurt slid off the bed and made his way to the bathroom, shutting the door behind him.
Blaine lifted his head and watched Kurt leave. As soon as the door was closed, he sprang out of the bed and paced the floor, not knowing what to do. His stuff was scattered on the floor and he rounded it all up, holding the stuff in his hands. He didn’t know if Kurt was going to ask for him to leave, so he set the stuff down in a neat pile on a chair. Blaine resumed pacing. Great job Anderson. Look what you’ve done. Half of him wanted to go talk to Burt, but he looked at the clock and remembered the time. He groaned and plopped down onto the floor, his head in his hands.
Kurt slid down the back of the bathroom door and closed his eyes with his head in his hands. He just wanted to be alone for a minute or two to think. There was part of him which wanted Blaine to go but then there was part of him which wanted him, no which needed him to stay. Kurt began to cry again, he didn’t want to, he tried to resist but it failed.
Blaine sprang back up and began to pace again. He wanted to talk to someone. To get advice. It was too late to call someone. It was too late to go talk to Burt, who was most likely asleep. Kurt was still in the bathroom, and Blaine’s hand hit his forehead. Why…His hand slid down his face. If he had made Kurt cry again…. he wouldn’t be able to live with himself. Blaine looked around the room, frantic. He saw paper and a pen, and an idea popped into his head. He scribbled a note for Kurt, walked over to the bathroom, and slipped the note and a pen through the door. He went back into the room and grabbed his stuff before going to sit on the wall outside the bathroom, waiting patiently. “Do you want me to leave?”
Kurt was still crying when the slip of paper came through under the door. He looked at it and sighed. He didn’t answer it straight away, he waited a few minutes. The he grabbed the pen and wrote “Yes” then scribbled it out, then he wrote “No” then scribbled that out, then he wrote “I don’t know”. He gently slid it under the door and back to Blaine.
Blaine sighed sadly when he got the note. He saw Kurt had written “Yes” first, then “No” then “I don’t know.” He wrote a reply quickly, hearing Kurt’s uneven breaths and realizing that he was crying. Great. Blaine stopped writing and his own eyes became a bit watery. He shook his head and focused back on what he was writing. Blaine slipped the paper back to Kurt and stood up, things in hand. “I’ll be downstairs, so you can have a little bit of both.” He started down the stairs quietly as to not wake anyone up.
Kurt heard footsteps fading and realized Blaine had left his room, then he saw the note. He hit the wall and the curled up in a ball on the floor crying. He hated being like this, he hated always being so sensitive and it drove him mad. He grabbed the note and ripped it up throwing the pieces across the room.
Once Blaine was downstairs, he set down the pile of stuff and searched for his shirt. He put it on quickly before grabbing the pile and heading towards the couch. Blaine set his stuff down on one side of the couch and curled up on the other. There was no way he was going to sleep now. And he couldn’t leave Kurt. His eyes roamed the room and he saw a book lying on the floor. His arm reached for it and he settled into the couch, reading. A small part of him wanted Kurt to go to his room and fall asleep. The other wanted him to come down, tell Blaine everything was alright, and forgive him. The words became blurry as tears began to form.
Kurt stood up and opened the bathroom door, he looked round his room. Blaine had really gone, his stuff wasn’t there either, but he said he’d be downstairs Kurt thought, why would he need to take his stuff. Kurt paced his room wondering what to do now, should he check to see if Blaine was downstairs or should he just go to bed? He was still crying and his eyes were beginning to sting. He walked slowly out of his room and sat on the very top step of the stairs, leaning against the wall so he could only just seen Blaine.
Blaine’s eyes had cleared up a bit, but his head hurt like crazy. Not to mention his aching heart. A phrase in the book made him shake his head. His stupid brain got a song stuck in his head. Blaine smiled the smallest smile humanly possible and began to softly sing in the hopes of getting the song out of his head. “If there’s a prize for rotten judgment…” he laughed at himself, like the song did in the Disney movie he loved. “I guess I’ve already won that…” The song was taunting him, he realized. “No man is worth the aggravation.” He shook his head. One man was. He hummed the little trumpet riff before the next line “That’s ancient history been there, done that.”
Kurt was listening to Blaine sing, he recognized the song it was a Disney song, he couldn’t remember where from. He listened closely to the line “No man is worth the aggravation.” Blaine said it slower and with more thought than any of the other lines, Kurt noticed. He didn’t want to listen to anymore so Kurt stood up and went back to his room, closing the door behind him.
Blaine heard a door shut and stood up, looking around. It had come from upstairs. Blaine headed up the stairs and saw the door to Kurt’s room closed. It was Kurt, he realized. Was he listening to him singing? Did he… oh no. He took that one line wrong, Blaine thought. He leaned on the wall by the door and went on. “Who you think you’re kidding? He’s the Earth and heavens to ya.” Blaine smiled to himself, thinking about how true the line was. “Try to keep it hidden, honey we can see right through ya. Girl you can’t conceal it, we know how you’re feeling.. Who you’re thinking of.”
Kurt sat leaning against his door crying, when he heard footsteps coming up the stairs. Blaine had obviously heard him and he didn’t want him to. He heard faint words, Blaine was talking, no, singing to him? He stopped crying and listened. He found himself smiling; he closed his eyes and continued to listen. When Blaine had finished, Kurt didn’t say anything for a minute. He got up and looked at the door handle, he wanted to open it but wasn’t sure whether he should, he felt like crying again and he didn’t want to upset Blaine any further.
“No chance, no way, I won’t say it no, no.” Blaine didn’t know if Kurt could hear him or not. He didn’t know what Kurt was doing. All he knew was the Kurt was on the other side of that door, somewhere in that room. “You swoon, you sigh, why deny it, uh-oh.” He smiled to himself. “It’s too, clich; I won’t say I’m in love.” Blaine went on, growing a little it louder. “I thought my heart had learned it’s lesson.” And he thought it had. Maybe not. “It feels so good when you start out.” He put emphasis on the so. “My head is screaming get a grip girl. Unless you’re dying to cry your heart out.” Oh great. Don’t say that line. Take it back, he told himself, realizing he couldn’t.
Kurt went and sat on his bed, he lie back listening to the lyrics. He closed his eyes to pay extra attention to the words. He got up and walked to the door; he put his hand on the door knob and went to open it when Blaine said the last line. He took his hand off the knob and sat back down behind the door.
Blaine saw the door knob move a little then become still. Stupid line. He went on, hoping to make it better. “You keep on denying who you are and how you’re feeling. Baby we’re not buying. Hon, we saw you hit the ceiling. Face it like a grown up; When you gonna own up that you got, got, got it bad.” They didn’t really help his cause. Blaine sighed before continuing singing, getting no response out of Kurt. “No chance, no way. I won’t say it, no, no.” He grinned, thinking about the next line. “Give up, give in. Check the grin, you’re in love.”
Kurt listened the song, sighed and looked to the ceiling. He ran his fingers through his hair and then wiped the tears from his eyes. He paid close attention to the last line, where he was forced to get to his feet, pull open the door and hug Blaine tight.
Blaine’s eyes were closed as he sang, taking a breath to continue. He knew by then he probably wouldn’t get a response. He began to keep on singing when the air was knocked out of him. “This scene wo-” A pair of arms wrapped around him, interrupting his singing. His eyes shot open and saw Kurt gripping him tight. His arms pulled Kurt into a hug, and he skipped forward in the song, directing the words towards the boy. “At least out loud, I won’t say I’m in love.”
Kurt’s heart was skipping as Blaine sang, the last line made him miss a beat. He looked deep into Blaine’s eyes as he sung it, when he was done he kissed him softly. “I’m sorry; I’m too sensitive for my own good.”
“Don’t apologize. I’m sorry for bringing it up. It was just a thought lingering in my mind….. I didn’t mean to speak it.” He kissed Kurt’s forehead and wiped some of the tears from Kurt’s cheek. He watched as Kurt buried his head into his shirt before pulling away and looking back up at him, confused. “Oh, yeah. I put it back on when I went downstairs.” Blaine said with a laugh.
He closed his eyes when Blaine kissed his forehead and wiped the tears away, he buried his face in Blaine’s chest before pulling back realizing that Blaine had a shirt on. “I didn’t put mine back on, that’s not fair.” he smiled.
“But you didn’t go downstairs, frightened that Finn or Burt might find you on the couch, shirtless, singing Disney songs with teary eyes.” Blaine smiled back at Kurt and walked them inside the room, closing the door behind them. He unwrapped his arms from around Kurt and stuck them straight up in the air, closing his eyes tight and scrunching his nose. “You can take it off if you so desire.”
He felt bad when he heard Blaine was teary eyed, but he saw Blaine smile which made him smile. He turned round to see Blaine’s arms in the air, his eyes shut and his nose all scrunched up. He looked insane until he said why he was like that. Kurt walked closer to Blaine, kissing his scrunched up nose before taking the bottom of his shirt and pulled it up and over Blaine’s head. “There now we’re both shirtless and its fair.” he grinned.
“I’m all about being fair.” Blaine joked and took Kurt’s face in his hands. He leaned in and kissed those grinning lips, smiling himself against them. When Blaine pulled away, his eyes were giving Kurt the most adoring look. “I really am sorry. I ruined it, didn’t I?” He looked down at his feet, feeling absolutely terrible. Blaine looked back up at Kurt with the same look as before: complete adoration.
He kissed Blaine in return when Blaine placed his hands on his face and kissed him. He melted when he saw the adoring look in Blaine’s eyes. “Ruined what?” Kurt said pretending like it never happened. He took his hand and kissed it before walking towards the bed, he sat down on it taking the remote in his hand, he rewound the DVD to where it was before it all happened. Kurt thought to himself, two fallouts in one night, not good both down to his stupid sensitivity. Once it was back to the place it was before Kurt patted the space next to him beckoning Blaine over.
Blaine whimpered when Kurt walked away from him, and laughed when he patted the space next to him. He walked over towards the bed and stopped before getting on it, pointing to the covers. “Cover up.” He teased. “I can’t have you getting cold on me.” Blaine put his hands on his hips and waited for Kurt, thinking. He had made Kurt cry twice in one night…. good going Anderson.
Kurt looked to what Blaine was pointing at and realized he was pointing at the covers. “I will if you will” he grinned. “I can’t have you getting cold on me either.” he said slipping under the covers, pulling a corner back so Blaine could get under.
