Author's Notes: Title comes from Wasting Time by Jack Johnson.
“Rachel, he was talking about this guy he’s totally in love with. A guy who’s probably taller than me, and stronger than me, and smarter than me, and probably like a huge lawyer or something. Ugh.”

“Kurt, stop it.” Rachel said as she rubbed his shoulder, trying and failing to take the tub of ice cream from him. “It’s probably not what it seemed! Maybe he was just-”

“‘I really, really like him. He’s perfect in every way.’ That is exactly what he said. I came in at the end, so I don’t know if it’s just some guy, or his boyfriend- oh god! It’s definitely his boyfriend."

“Kurt! You’re jumping to-”

Kurt kept going, without acknowledging Rachel. “Blaine totally has a boyfriend. Why did I ever think I might have a chance with him? I shouldn’t have even thought I had a chance in the beginning.”

“Kurt!”

“I mean, he’s totally out of my league. Have you seen him? He is the most perfect human being I’ve ever laid eyes on. He even-”

“KURT!”

Kurt jolted in surprise, looking up at his roommate, a questioning look on his face. “God. I was rambling wasn’t I?”

Rachel chuckled. “You sure were. You know what that means?” Kurt raised an eyebrow. “You are totally in love with him! Oh my god, this is perfect! It’s like the typical girl-next-door scenario! You guys are obviously going to fall in love.”

Kurt narrowed his eyes at her. “First of all, he doesn’t live next door. I don’t know where he lives. Secondly, there is no girl involved, and I am going to take offence to that reference. Thirdly, we aren’t going to fall in love, because he is ALREADY IN LOVE.” He scooped up another spoonful of rocky road and shoved it into his mouth with a huff.

Rachel shook her head. “No, I have total faith in your relationship-”

“We don’t have a relationship!”

“-and I will not stop until the two of you are happily together. You are my best gay, after all.”

“You know you can say friend, right?”

Rachel chuckled, got up from the couch and ruffled Kurt’s hair, ignoring his cry of protest. “Don’t worry, you will end up with Blaine, if I have anything to do with it!” She skipped towards her room, calling out before shutting the door. “Don’t stay up too late. I’ll see you in the morning, sunshine!”

The door of the Caffeine Cave swung open, and one Rachel Berry strode in purposefully up to the counter. Seeing that the barista was turned away from her, she cleared her throat to catch his attention. The young man turned quickly towards her and made his way to the counter.

“Hello, my name is Mason! Welcome to the Caffeine Cave. What can I get for you today?”

“Blaine, please.”

A shocked expression came across his face before he managed to get out, “Oh, you want someone else to serve you? Uh, I understand if I did something to offend you, but I don’t really know what I could have done in the past 30 seconds... at least tell me what I’ve done so I won’t do it again?” His cheeks had started to redden as he spoke.

Rachel rolled her eyes. “No, you haven’t done anything to offend me. Yet. I would like to speak with a young man that works here. His name is Blaine? Is he here this morning? While I am waiting, you can make me a medium green tea with honey.”

Mason stared at her for a moment before turning and calling towards the back room. “Blaine? Can you come out here please? One green tea, coming right up!” He quickly made his way to the back counter to prepare her drink, as Rachel waited patiently for Blain to appear.

A call of “Be there in a sec, Mason,” came from somewhere she couldn’t see.

“Here you are- one green tea, on the house! Or rather, on me. For the offending that I didn’t actually do I guess. Or maybe just ‘cause you’re very pretty.”

Rachel smiled at the blushing young man. “Thank you Mason, that is very sweet of you-”

“Hey, you wanted me for something?” Blaine came out of the back room, drying his hands on a dishcloth. “Oh, hello.” He said as noticed Rachel standing at the counter.

Mason shuffled to the other end of the counter, mumbling something Rachel heard to be “Stupid Blaine, guy’s gay and still manages to steal away all the pretty girls...”

Rachel chuckled as she raised her hand for Blaine to shake. “Hello. My name is Rachel Berry, and I think we are going to become great friends.”

End Notes: No actual Klaine interaction, but let me know what you think! Short but sweet, maybe? I haven't decided yet if I'm actually going to include the Blaine/Rachel interaction or just skip past it.
