By the time Blaine thought that Kurt would be finishing up, it was raining. The little coffee store was also closing and Blaine was one of the last people to leave. He once again didn’t bring an umbrella, but he didn’t care. He couldn’t bring himself to care much about anything at that moment, because his whole mind was on Kurt. As he walked round the corner towards the store, he passed some people, huddled together under umbrellas or sheltering themselves against the rain with jackets or bags. Blaine just let the little drops hit him. It was strangely refreshing, as if some of the worries were washing off of him. When he reached the door of Kurt’s shop, he found that it was locked. He looked through the window and saw Kurt sweeping the floor in the back, so he knocked on the door and Kurt looked up. He watched Kurt put his broom away and walk over to open the door for him.

“This seems to be becoming a trend.” Kurt commented dryly, looking at Blaine’s soaked hair and clothes. Without saying anything else, he walked to the back and came out a little later carrying a fluffy white towel.

“So, did you finally decide to stop being an idiot?” He asked, throwing the towel in Blaine’s direction. No dry clothes today, apparently.

“I don’t know if I could ever stop.” Blaine whispered while drying his hair and Kurt huffed. “But I’d like to try.”

“Well, wouldn’t that be something.” Kurt muttered angrily and he walked over to the counter.

“Kurt, can we please just talk?” Blaine pleaded as he followed him. “I mean it.”

“Guess what,” Kurt turned around suddenly, facing Blaine. “So did I. I wanted to talk to you, I meant that too, but you just decided to ignore me? Well, thank god I voted you as ruler of all, to decide what’s best for other people.”

“I didn’t mean to – I just thought – I – “

“You know what I think? I think you didn’t do a lot of thinking.”

“I did! I did a lot more thinking than was good for me, actually. But you seemed – I thought you regretted it.” Blaine was just staring at his feet by now, unable to look Kurt in the eye.

“What in the world would make you think that?”

“Well, you seemed sort of – sort of disappointed? And were kind of in a hurry to get out of the house, so I just figured – God, I don’t know.”

“No, you don’t. You don’t know, because you’re not me and you can’t look inside my head.”

“No, I can’t.” Blaine bit his lip. This wasn’t going according to plan. Not that there was some kind of plan to follow, but this conversation was heading more towards the ‘Kurt will hate me forever’ path, rather than the ‘at least stay friend’ path. “I just didn’t know – I didn’t really know how to react.”

“So you decided just not to?” Kurt shot back.

“Yes, I did.” Blaine was starting to get slightly annoyed. “I wanted to talk to you, but I was scared of what you’d think of me and after the way you left – that pretty much just confirmed what I thought.”

“Okay, listen up.” Kurt started poking at Blaine’s chest. “First of, I was actually really, really late. Normally I can open up the store whenever I feel like it, but I had an appointment with a costumer and she would have skinned me alive if I had been late for that, so yes, I was in a hurry. Second, I don’t know about you, Blaine, but I’m a romance guy. I want to be swept of my feet and taken on dates and kiss under the moonlight and then maybe have sex on a bed with rose petals. I’m not the kind of guy who gets drunk and sleeps with the man I thought I was in love with –“

“Kurt…” Blaine whispered brokenly, but Kurt cut him off.

“Don’t ‘Kurt’ me, Blaine. Just don’t. The point is that I don’t just sleep with people after a first date and as far as I know, this wasn’t even really a date, so please forgive me for having a whole list of problems with myself in the morning.” He crossed his arms and sat down on the chair behind the counter. “So there’s my excuse, what’s yours, huh?”

“I – I suppose I was just – I was scared I ruined things.” Blaine just stood there awkwardly, having no place to sit down. He felt as if Kurt was judging him, ready to make a verdict as soon as he’d finish his story.

“Honestly, Blaine, I don’t even understand how you could think that cutting me off would make things better. That’s not how life works, sunshine.”

“Kurt, if you want me to explain, you’re going to have to let me talk, okay?” Blaine said, frowning. “Would you please just let me?”

“Sorry.” Kurt sighed. “Go ahead.”

“As you probably know…” Blaine started slowly, trying to figure out how to say what he wanted to say in the way he wanted to say it. “I have a history with – um – with sex under influence, so to say.” He was glad when he saw Kurt biting back a smile. “Well, I thought I was fine with it and I moved past it, but it turns out that I haven’t, not really. When I woke up, I still thought I was fine, but then you left and I thought you were running and I just – I freaked out.” Blaine felt himself panicking, his words getting more and more chaotic and threatening to stumble over each other. “I kept telling myself that with being drunk I had ruined everything and that even if you wanted to come back, you’d eventually hate me anyway and then with Ginny – I mean, there was just no way in hell you’d want to be with me if she was also there and I wouldn’t want you to be with a reckless asshole who can’t control – “

“Blaine.” Kurt got up quickly and grabbed Blaine’s arm. “Breathe, okay?” Blaine nodded and took a deep breath for good measure. “Good. You can go on now, if you want, as long as you promise not to choke in the process.”

“Wouldn’t that make things a lot easier?”

“Don’t say that.”

“Kurt. Kurt, I’m so sorry.” Tears were burning in his eyes and his chest was tightening. “I didn’t want to hurt you, I never – never wanted that. I just felt that after everything that happened with Ginny’s mom, there was no way you’d want to stay with me. Even if – even if we weren’t really together. I wish that I could take back what I did, but I can’t and – and I honestly wouldn’t blame you if you don’t ever want to see me again, but God – Kurt, I’m pretty sure it would break me.”

“Blaine…”

“I don’t want you to be with – with me if I can’t even face my own past and just –“ Blaine rubbed at his eyes. “I’m sorry. I’ll just – I’ll just leave.”

“Don’t you dare, Anderson.” Blaine was suddenly wrapped in Kurt’s arms. “You are such an idiot.”

“People keep telling me that.” Blaine sniffled into Kurt’s shoulder. He figured that as long as Kurt wasn’t running away from him, he might as well cherish the moment.

“That’s because it’s true.” Kurt pulled back a little and smiled a soft smile. Blaine was ever so glad that Kurt’s features had softened a little, because Kurt was honestly kind of terrifying when angry. “I’m sorry, too, you know.”

“You are? But why?”

“Because I shouldn’t have judged you before I knew what happened and I shouldn’t have talked to you the way I did earlier.”

“I think you had the right to, though.” Blaine shrugged a little. “I’m honestly surprised you didn’t just slap me.” Kurt giggled softly and wiped a tear from Blaine’s cheek.

“Do you want me to?” Kurt smiled and Blaine laughed softly.

“No, thanks.” Kurt hummed happily, still looking Blaine in the eye. His hand had paused on Blaine’s face, softly stroking Blaine’s cheek with his thumb. Then Kurt leaned forward and his lips met Blaine’s in a soft kiss. Blaine felt a small rush of heat go through his body and then Kurt pulled back. “I – Okay.” Blaine stammered.

“Sorry. Was that – was that okay?” Kurt seemed worried, but Blaine responded only by kissing him again briefly.

“Yes. Yes, it was. It was fine. More than fine, actually. Great.” Kurt chuckled at the way Blaine stumbled over his words and ran his fingers through Blaine’s curls.

“Aren’t you cold?” Kurt looked worried now and Blaine suddenly realized how cold his wet clothes were against his body and how he was slightly shivering.

“Um, a little?” Blaine shrugged. “But – you don’t have to worry about it. I’ll manage.” And then his body chose that moment to sneeze and Kurt raised an eyebrow.

“Oh really?” Kurt let go of Blaine and walked to the back. “Let me get you something dry, at least.”

“Do you just have that lying around back there? Dry clothes for strangers?”

“Only for you.” Kurt chirped and Blaine laughed. He patiently waited for Kurt to come back out. When he returned with a set of dry clothes – dark jeans and a burgundy sweater this time – Blaine held Kurt’s gaze for a moment.

“Does this – does this mean I can ask you out on a real date now?” Blaine stammered and Kurt seemed to consider this, frowning a little.

“Try again when you’re not soaked and we’ll se what we can do.” Kurt decided after studying Blaine, who was shivering more heavily now.

“Okay.” Blaine said and before he knew it, Kurt was pushing him into the back room. Blaine smiled to himself as Kurt closed the door behind him. Maybe this wasn’t going so bad after all.

---

“Oh.” Blaine opened the door the next Saturday, to find Kurt on his doorstep, wearing the most beautifully tailored suit with a well-matched shirt and tie and a beautiful dragonfly pin was placed on his collar. “You look – wow.”

“Thanks.” Kurt blushed a little. “You’re looking pretty good yourself.” Blaine had to disagree. His dark black shirt and red tie were finished with his cheap suit. Blaine used to have a more expensive, prettier one that he’d wanted to wear, but Ginny had covered that one in glitter about a year ago and Blaine had never bothered to buy a new one. It was sad, because that one would’ve matched this outfit perfectly, but he shrugged and thanked Kurt anyway. “Come in, the babysitter is already here, but she’s new and I need to walk her through a couple of things before we leave.”

“Sure thing.” Kurt followed Blaine inside and was greeted by Ginny, who bounced out of the living room.

“Hello, mister Kurt!” She said happily.

“Hi, Ginny.” Kurt smiled.

“Okay, I’m going to talk Melanie through a last couple of things.” Blaine patted Ginny on her head. “I’ll be right back, unless you want to come with, Gin?” Ginny shook her head.

“No, I’ll stay with mister Kurt.” She said innocently and Blaine shrugged.

“Behave, alright? I’ll be back in a few.” And he left back into the living room.

---

“So.” Ginny started innocently. “Are you looking forward to tonight?”

“I am, yes.” Kurt smiled.

“Do you like my daddy?”

“I do.” Kurt said quietly. He knew that what Ginny thought of him was important and even though he felt like she liked her, he couldn’t take it for granted.

“Like-like?”

“Yes, I like-like him a lot.” Kurt chuckled. This interrogation wasn’t too bad.

“Good, cause he likes-likes you, too.” She nodded. “He really does and I’m glad that you like him too, cause you make him really happy, you know?” Kurt couldn’t speak. This little girl was so wise and Blaine could complain all he wanted that she was a little sassy brat sometimes, but she was much more mature than he really gave her credit for. “I’m happy you aren’t mad at him anymore.” She stepped forward and hugged his legs. Kurt’s breath hitched and wrapped his arms around her shoulders.

“I was never really mad at him to begin with.” He whispered at her.

“Um. Am I interrupting something?” Blaine was standing in the doorway, with an amused look on his face.

“A hug.” Ginny said. “You should join us.” Blaine looked at Kurt, who nodded and Blaine shrugged, walked up to them and wrapped them in his arms.

“We are going to be late, you know.” Blaine commented and Kurt giggled.

“We probably are.” He whispered. “But I like this.”

“So do I.”

End Notes: And that is it. Done. Only the epilogue left now. Only that.

That was a lovely lovely chapter. Loved the talk they had in Kurt's shop. Sorry to see this coming to an end.

This was adorable, I don't want it to end!
