The entire royal family seemed to be in shock after the story that had just been told to them.
"Ms. Corcoran," the king finally said, "I can assure you that I was never planning on enslaving your kind. Your people have aided mine in more ways then one over the centuries and I would never disrespect you in that way."
"We all know that now, sire," she said, "it was Pearlman who was going to try and convince you to enslave the werewolves. He probably figured it worked when vampires first began enslaving humans, why not werewolves too?"
The king glanced at Kurt and Puck who were seated on either side of Blaine.
Kurt thought it looked like he was about to say something, but then the king returned his attention to the werewolf on the screen.
"Well this was obviously very importent to you, Ms. Corcoran, since you managed to fight off your change. Therefore I have no reason to doubt what you are telling me is true."
"But Pearlman is dead," the queen piped up, "his execution was witnessed by hundreds."
"There are ways to get past that, madam. He may have used a double. Either way you'll have to ask him during your interrogation."
"Well rest assured, Ms. Corcoran," said the king, "your people will forever be under my protection, even more so now that you've all saved my life."
"And that brings us to our next order of business," said Jeremiah, leaning forwards in his chair. "The matter of the human race."
The king's jaw clenched, "Right. You're still on about that then?"
"These two saved your life, sire, just as much as Blaine, myself and the werewolves did. They deserve recognition for that."
"And I think you can tell that we're operating under our own accords," Kurt put in.
The king shot him an annoyed look, probably from the lack of using a respectful title. Not that Kurt really cared.
"We have humans who are, for all intents and purposes, free living in bigger cities," Jeremiah pointed out. "This one included. You must admit that it's not like our society has been on the decline ever since you made it a law that those certain individuals should be protected."
"Yes, I suppose not."
Silence reigned in the room for several long moments before Tina spoke up.
"Father, may I just say that vampires were all once humans ourselves. Really the huamns are closer to our relitvies then the werewolves are. Would it really be so terrible if we gave them their freedom back?"
"You're only saying that because you harbor feelings for your own slave."
"As do I," Blaine spoke up, "sire." He tacked the word on quickly as the king turned his dark eyes on him. "And I think that Princess Tina will agree with me one hundred precent if I were to say that I never thought of him as my slave. He's my best friend more then anything else."
Tina nodded vigorously at Blaine's words.
The king sighed heavily.
"Even if I were to make it illegal to keep humans as slaves anymore, the majority of vampric society would try to rebel against the idea."
"We know that, sire," Jeremiah said. "But I think you'll find that there are plenty who would love a law like that."
"And it's not like society would change that much, Your Majesty," added Blaine. "I've had my share of blood whores and they love what they do. It's kind of a win-win sitiuation. We get nourishment and they get a sexual high that could never be matched if they were with one of their own kind."
"I'll think about it," the king finaly said. "Now, unless you people have any other demands I shall arrange for transportation for each of you."

It had been three years to the date since that night they had caught Pearlman and had their discussion with the king.
Four months after their talk, the king announced that humans were to no longer be enslaved. He gave no real reason aside from what Tina had said that night and Kurt couldn't help but wonder if his 'daughter' had been the real reason he had set the new law.
There had been quite an uproar over the whole thing, not that that surprised anyone.
Most humans were still slaves to their vampire counterparts, they were just getting paid for their services now.
Kurt's life hadn't changed at all really except for the fact that he and Blaine were now legally married. Something that wouldn't have been observed when he would still be considered a slave.
He was still a human though. He had made it perfectly clear to Blaine that he never wanted to be changed. Blaine agreed, if somewhat grudingly.
"But people deserve to hear your voice for generations," the ex-count had said.
"That's why they invented CDs," Kurt had replied.
Kurt and Blaine had decided to stay in New York City so that Kurt could realize his dream of being one of the humans who were actually respected by the vampire community.
Blaine had stepped down from his place in the Dalton Coven, turning power over to Thadeous which he felt was only right.
Rachel and Finn had ended up moving in with them as well as David Karofsky and Bruce (the former 'Rock').
David hadn't wanted to at first, but Blaine convinced Sue to drop the charges against Karofsky, making him free in the eyes of the law as well.
As for Sebastian, he had been put in jail along with all of his cohorts.
Blaine had offered him a choice between that or staying on to work as endentured servent.
Strangly enough he choose to be locked up indefinitly.
It was amazing the things that ran through Kurt's head when he was sitting back in his dressing room, running over lines with Rachel one last time before the show.
There came a knock on the door and Blaine and Finn entered, both carrying flowers for their significant other.
"Break a leg out there tonight, you two," Blaine said.
"Just not literally," Finn cautioned, "that would be bad."
"You guys are nervous," Blaine stated as Kurt took the flowers from him.
"Damn you vampires and your ability to hear heartbeats," Rachel swore.
Blaine laughed, "Don't worry. You two are going to be fine."
"So you say."
"Drama Queen," Kurt quipped, ducking out of the way as Rachel threw a tube of lipstick at him.
"We need to get out there and take our seats," Blaine said.
Finn and Blaine kissed their respectful partners before heading out the door again.
An usher came by to make sure the stars of the performance were ready before ducking out again.
"Can you believe we're actually here, actually doing this?"
"I better had," Kurt told her. "Otherwise I might freeze out there. Which is a pretty impressive thing to do with all of those hot lights."
She nudged him playfully on the shoulder.
"You know what I mean. Two humans who were part of the entire reason so many vampires are mad at us, having our praises sung by an audience of them."
"They're not singing our praises yet, Rachel."
She took his hand and led them out of the dressing room.
"Well then let's get out there and make them."
Kurt smiled and allowed himself to be led along by the hand. He didn't say anything to her, but all he really cared about was, if there was such a thing as angels, that his mother would be among them watching him and proud of what he had accomplished in such a short time.
