Kurt felt a stab of pity for the other human who was looking both scared and confused as Oscar and Victor escorted him into the room, each gripping an arm as they steered him into a chair.
"What's going on? Where's Julia?"
"Forget about her right now, Roy," Blaine told him. The vampire palced a chair opposite the other man and sat down. "I have some questions for you, Roy, and you had better answer them truthfully. Understood?"
Roy's eyes grew large as he scanned the coven who were gathered outside the door. Kurt wondered if he were wishing Julia would show up.
"Roy, do you understand?" Blaine snapped his fingers, making the human start and lock eyes with the count.
Roy nodded vigorously, "Y-yes, sir, I understand."
"Good. My first question is this: had Julia been plotting anything against me that you know of?"
"W-what do you mean, sir?"
"I mean did she ever talk about harming me in any way?"
Roy looked shocked, "Of course not, sir, why would she want to hurt you?"
"I don't know, but she just about did a little while ago after her husband's assassination attempt failed."
Roy gasped, "No, that's not possible! My mistress and master were both in our room when you were shot!"
"Is that so? They must be working with someone then. Thadeous, would you please contact the other coven leaders and get an alibi for each of them as well as all of their memebers?"
Thadeous nodded and he and Michael swept out of the room.
"Roy, where is Walter now?"
"I don't, sir, but I know he didn't try to kill you!"
"That's fine," said Blaine, "now I have one more question for you, have you heard anything about a plot that concerns me or any other vampire that stands for human rights?"
Roy bit his lower lip and averted his eyes.
Blaine grabbed the human's chin and forced him to look him in the eyes.
"Answer me, Roy, now."
Roy swallowed hard.
"Th-there w-was something about...I don't really know...I only heard a little bit..."
"Just tell me what you heard."
Roy swallowed again and cleared his throat loudly, "I heard something about how--someone was going to try and raid every rebel colony that the vampires know about--," he paused and flicked his eyes towards Kurt.
"Roy!"
Roy caught Blaine's eyes again and looked steadily into them.
"Raids on rebel colonies happen all the time. There must be more behind it."
"There is," Roy admitted, "they were going to kill them."
"Who was going to kill whom?"
"The vampires conducting the raids were going to kill the rebel humans...the ones who are already in custody..."
"Why?"
"As an example...or a warning...or something. I don't really know."
Blaine nodded as if everything he had been thinking was confirmed.
"Sounds like they were going to kidnap you, honey."
"Sounds like it," Kurt agreed. "That's why she needed you out of the way. Still seems like a lot to go through just to send a warning to the rebel colonies, I mean, we're taught not to trust any of you from day one and killing a bunch of once free humans will only serve to reinforce that."
"Unless they think it would flush out those we've yet to locate."
Kurt snorted, "Still sounds like a lot of effort."
"Wait, sirs, Mistress Julia and Master Walter wouldn't be involved in something like that."
"Yes they are, Roy. Julia tried to kill me in my sleep not fourteen minutes ago."
"Where is she?" Roy asked in a small voice, "there has to be some misunderstanding..."
"Kurt, if you will?"
Kurt crossed over to the bed where Julia's gun lay. He picked it up and brought over to Blaine who took it with a word of thanks.
"Roy, do you recognize this revolver?"
Roy leaned forwards to examine the weapon and be began to shake his head. At first, Kurt thought he was saying that he had never seen it before but that he heard Roy mumbling 'no' over and over again--it sounded like a denail to a fact he was not willing to accept.
"It's hers, isn't it, Roy?"
"But I don't understand...why would she do that?"
"I don't, Roy, but I believe that you really didn't have any idea what Julia and Walter were planning and so I do not hold you accountable to their actions. Now, where's Kelly?"
"Still in our room asleep."
"But you said Walter's not here?"
"That's right. I figured he went for a walk or something."
"He's on the run, Roy, and considering he didn't take Kelly with him I doubt she knows anymore then you do. Now, you may either go back to your room or you may stay here."
"I want to go back to the hotel room."
"Very well. Oscar, will you take him?"
The other vampire nodded and he and Victor escorted Roy back to his room.
Blaine waited until the humans would be out of earshot before saying that he wanted gaurds posted outside of Roy and Kelly's room as a precaution. He cocked his head and then nodded, obviously getting his reply from Oscar.
"Now what?" Kurt asked as the rest of the coven left and he and Blaine were alone again.
Blaine shrugged, "There's nothing much we can do at the moment since we're waiting on Thadeous's report."
Thadeous returned faster then Kurt had expected considering how many alibis he had to get.
Blaine raised an eyebrow as Thadeous and Michael both seated themselves.
"Well, what did you find out?"
"Nothing too surprising," answered Thadeous, "the only one who doesn't check out is Karofsky."
"Knew it," stated Kurt, "he's probably been looking for an excuse to kill you ever since the gathering."
"Yes, he probably has. Does Sue know where he is at the moment?"
"No, but she has a feeling that he's already figured out that we told her what happened so he's too frightened to return sence he has to know she would gladly kill him for us."
"Let's start searching for him then. Chances are he's left Westerville far behind by now but that doesn't mean we won't be able to find him."
"I already have the police on it. There's even a werewolf who's agreed to help out during the full moon."
Blaine looked impressed, "They usually don't wrap themselves up in our affairs. Do I know this person?"
"I didn't ask for a name. According to them though, she was changed not that long ago so she probably doesn't belong to a pack and this is the only why for her to make money right now."
Blaine nodded, "Makes sense."
"What do we do in the meantime?" Kurt asked, "We're not just going to sit here and do nothing are we?"
"No, we're not," replied Blaine, "we're going to try and find more information about this plot to kill captured humans who used to belong to a rebel colony. Also, I would like you to fill Rachel, Artie and Puck in on what's going on. Tell them I don't want any of them wandering off alone for any reason. Furthermore, I think it might be for the best if each of you were assigned your own guns for protection."
"Are you sure that's wise, Blaine?" Thadeous asked, "I mean, I trust Kurt and Rachel with a weapon but what about those other two. Especially that big one."
Thadeous furrowed his brow at the thought of Puck and Kurt had to fight back a smile at how happy Puck would be if he knew he had intimidated a vampire.
"The big one's name is Noah Puckerman and I see your concern. However, I refuse to leave him empty handed and I don't think he would misuse it."
Blaine looked at Kurt as if hoping the human would back him up on this. Kurt told them that he didn't think they would have anything to worry about as long as no one pissed Puck off. As for Artie, he wasn't the violent type and he wouldn't try and betry any of them as he was very gratful towards Blaine for rescuing him.
"That's settled then," said Blaine, "I'll speak with someone about it the first chance I get."
The count stood up and snatched Julia's gun off the nightstand, "But first, I need to bring this to the police and tell them what happened to its old owner."
