Blaine, Kurt, Artie, Puck and Rachel were walking from the parking garage to the doors of the hotel when Blaine suddenly screamed and a line of blood splattered against the glass doors.
"Blaine!" Kurt screamed as the vampire fell down next to him.
"What the fucking hell!" Puck looked around wildly.
Kurt collapsed by Blaine's side in numb disbelieve as he watched the blood pour out of the vampire. He fought with all his might against the doorman who was trying to haul him away, but to no avail. The vampire was obviously much stronger then the human and so he managed to pluck Kurt off the ground easily and transfer him to another vampire who quickly pulled the struggling human inside the hotel lobby.
"No!" Kurt shouted as he was wrestled into a nearby chair, desperately trying to get back to Blaine.
The count was now obscured from his view by a group of hotel staff members as they assessed Blaine's situation.
"Kurt, stop it!" Puck yelled at him as he kept the smaller boy from lunging out of his seat. "There's nothing you can do for him anyway!"
"There has to be!" Kurt denied, "I can't leave him out there!"
"Kurt?"
Kurt looked down to see Michael kneeling next to the chair.
"Kurt, it's okay--"
"Okay? How the hell can it be okay? Blaine was just shot!"
"I know but, Kurt, listen to me," Michael placed a comforting hand on his knee, "I was just out there. Thad told me to come in here and tell you that Blaine's injury doesn't look fatel."
"He was hit in the head, Michael!"
Michael nodded and Kurt was beginning to hate him for being so calm.
"It only grazed the side of his skull. It just looks a lot worse because we're pretty sure it nicked a vien. He probably won't even have brain injuries though."
"Who did it?" Kurt's voice was small as he asked the question.
"I don't know, Kurt."
"We have to find the bastard who did it, Mike, we have to."
"We will, Kurt, don't worry."
The doors to the hotel opened and Kurt scrambled to his feet as two of the staff members carried Blaine inside and set him down on a low table.
"Blaine?" Kurt managed to choke out.
His eyes roved over the scarlet streaks in Blaine's dark curls and he felt tears form in the corners of his eyes.
"Kurt, come here," Thadeous beckoned Kurt over and the human stumbled forwards.
Kurt felt his breathing becoming shallow as he hatled next to Thadeous.
"C-can I t-touch him?"
"Not just yet, Kurt, injuried vampires tend to attack if they're startled."
"But he's--"
"Unconscious, I know. But trust me when I say that it will be dangerous for you to touch him at the moment. You need to stop him bleeding though. Our blood doesn't clot the way yours does so he needs a...dotation to help him."
Kurt stared at him, not fully processing the words.
Thadeous sighed, "He needs some of your blood to start the rapid healing process of our kind. Mine wouldn't be any good for him since we don't share any between us, plus it's only appropriate you do it since you're his personal human."
"S-so you want me to...cut my wrist or something?"
"Or your palm which would be a lot safer."
"I don't have a knife or anything."
"I know," Thadeous extened a hand towards Kurt, "I can do that for you."
Kurt didn't need telling twice. He thrust his hand out and Thadeous lightly gripped his wrist as he poised a sharp fingernail over Kurt's open hand. Kurt winced slightly as the vampire applied pressure and cut a shallow line across his skin.
"Now just hold your hand over his mouth."
Kurt did as he was told; pressing at the wound so that the blood would flow quicker. He held his breath as he watched his blood fall onto Blaine's parly opened lips.
Time seemed to stand still as he waited impatiently for something to happen. He glanced at the long furrow the bullet had cut into the side of Blaine's head and gave a chocked sob of relief as he saw the flow of blood slow and eventually come to a complete stop as the wound closed up.
"That's all we can do for him right now, Kurt," Thadeous said, "you did very well. Let's get him up to the hotel room so he can rest."
Thadeous pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and tied around Kurt's cut before scooping the smaller vampire into his arms and leading the way to the room they had reserved for Blaine and Kurt.
Thadeous laid Blaine down on the king size bed in the sapcious room.
Kurt sat down next to Blaine and brushed the short curls out of his eyes, not caring that some of the count's blood smeared across his fingers. He was dimly aware of the sound of running water and looked up when Thadeous held a damp washrag out to him.
Kurt took the proffered rag and wiped the blood off of Blaine's face.
"I'm going to go back out and speak to the authorities," Thadeous told him.
Kurt nodded, only half listening.
"Michael, please go and get another room booked for Kurt's friends."
Kurt heard two pairs of footsteps leave the room and heard another pair walk towards him.
"Kurt, is Blaine going to be okay?" Rachel asked tentatively.
"The bullet only grazed his skull," Kurt replied, "I don't think there'll be any long term damage."
"That's good," Artie spoke from near the door, "he'll be fine. Vampires are supposed to heal a lot faster then humans anyway."
Kurt nodded, "I know."
Presently, Blaine cracked open his eyes enough to focus on Kurt.
"What the hell just happened?"
Kurt gave a soft cry of relief, "You were shot, honey."
Blaine's eyes opened all the way at this news, "Is anyone else hurt?"
"No, at least I don't think so. It was a sniper or something."
"That settles it then, the mansion wasn't blown up by a faulty gas line. Have the police been contact?"
"I think so. Thadeous said something about speaking with them so..."
Blaine nodded shakily, "Okay, good."
The count licked his lips and a look of surprise crossed his features, "Oh, you patched my wounds up then. Thank you."
Kurt smiled, "You're welcome."
"I have to sleep now. I should be fine by tommorrow night. Are your friends being taken care of?"
"They're booking us a room," Rachel piped up.
"Good."
As if on cue, Michael returned to bring Artie, Rachel and Puck to their room and as soon as they were gone, Blaine shifted so that he and Kurt could climb under the blankets.
They snuggled up next to each other and were both soon asleep in each others' arms.
Kurt's eyes snapped open at the sound of a soft click and he jerked his head up to see the silhouette of someone standing over Blaine, the barrel of a gun pointed at his head.
Without thinking about it, the human bolted upright in bed and smashed his fist into the would-be murderer's face.
The person yelled and dropped the gun which went off, the bullet hitting one of the legs of the bed.
Needless to say, Blaine was now wide awake and on his feet.
Kurt scrambled out of bed and switched on the light to reveal Julia on the floor, rubbing her jaw.
"What's going on, Julia?"
Blaine's voice sounded unbelievably calm, but Kurt could detect the anger and hostilty beneatht the surface and a shiver ran down his spine.
Julia's eyes flashed towards the gun and Blaine kicked it under the bed before reaching down and grabbing her by the hair in order to drag her to her feet.
The door burst open and Kurt whirled around, ready to fight. He relaxed as he saw Thadeous along with Oscar and some of the other Dalton vampires standing in the doorway. His eyes scanned the stunned members and found that he could not spot Walter anywhere.
He spun around on his heel to glare at Julia, "Where's your husband?"
"What's going on?" asked Oscar.
"Oh, it's nothing, Oscar," Blaine answered, "Julia here just tried assassinating me and possibly Kurt."
"What?" a blonde vampire by the name of Jeff Sterling exclaimed.
"Yeah, so where's Walter?" Kurt repeated, "You can't tell me he's not in on this too."
Blaine shoved Julia against the wall, fangs bared, "Answer his question."
Julia bared her own fangs at Blaine and spat in his face.
Blaine slammed her head against the wall in response.
"You won't find him," she hissed.
"Is he the one who shot me?"
"No."
"Then who was it?"
"None of your fucking business."
"Very well, what was the meaning behind your attempt on my life? Chose your words carefully as they shall be the last ones your fellow colony members hear pass your lips."
Julia snarled and plunged her neck forwards to try and snap at Blaine's face.
The count pulled his own neck back far enough to stay out of her reach.
"This is your own choice, Julia; do you have any last words before you pass from this life?"
"Go to hell."
"Not the best, but okay."
Without further ado, Blaine placed his hands on either side of her face and yanked her head to the side hard enough to break her neck.
Blaine dropped Julia's body to the floor before heading over to Kurt, the hard edge that had been in his eyes instantly softening as he clapped his gaze on the human.
"Are you okay, Kurt?"
"Yeah, I'm f-fine. What about you?"
"I'll be okay. Do we know where Roy is?" Blaine asked the vampires who had just been witness to the execution of their former colony member.
"No," said Thadeous.
"Go find him. I want to know if Julia had told him anyting about her plans."
Oscar and his human Victor left to do as they were told.
"Let's get the body out of here before Roy sees it. He'll have been released from any hypnosis he may have been under now that his controller is gone but that doesn't mean he hasn't developed some kind of respect for her and I don't want him upset when I'm trying to interrogate him."
