Kurt sadly smiled at Adam as they walked up to his apartment. Tonight would've been perfect, if it wasn't for the fact that his stupid heart kept wishing that it was Blaine, sitting across from him, talking. Or that it was Blaine, holding his hand throughout the play. He couldn't stop having flashbacks of the time that Blaine and he went to see Rent at the Community Playhouse. But still, he needed to get over Blaine. He opened the door to his apartment and was relieved that nobody was home. He didn't want Santana here, messing with him. Kurt smiled at Adam and asked him to sit down. Adam looked at Kurt for a moment and then sat down. "Kurt, can I talk to you for a minute?"
Blaine arrived at JFK airport. He ran off the plane and tried to hail a cab but to no luck. He hurried along the sidewalk and tried to hail another taxi. A taxi stopped in front of him and Blaine gave him Kurt's address. He bit his lip as New York flashed past his window.
"Talk? About what?" Kurt's voice became incredibly high-pitched.
"Sit down." Adam said, patting the seat next to him. Kurt tentatively sat down and looked at Adam with what he hoped were innocent eyes. "You've been distracted all evening and you haven't been yourself. You didn't even laugh when I did my Queen impression. Is there anything wrong, dear?"
Kurt bit his lip and shook his head. "No, nothing's wrong. I was just a bit distracted, that's all." Adam didn't look convinced and took Kurt's hand into his own.
"Kurt, tell me the truth. Something is bothering you and I just want to know." Kurt looked at the hard-wood floor. How could he tell Adam what's bothering him?
Blaine's hands were clenched tightly into fists. Traffic was disastrous downtown and he was left stuck still while Kurt needed him. He resisted the urge to punch something and tried to focus his thoughts on Kurt.
Kurt sat in silence with Adam next to him. Kurt shook his head and said, again, "No. Nothing's wrong." His voice falsely bright.
Adam stared at Kurt for a hard moment and then said, "Kiss me." Kurt's eyebrows shot up and his eyes widened.
"W-what?" He sputtered out.
"Kiss me." Adam said, leaning in close. Kurt shook his head.
"No." He whispered, leaning away from him.
"Why not?" Adam demanded. Kurt looked around his apartment, trying to think of any excuse to tell Adam but the truth. "Kurt." The force in Adam's force made Kurt look at him. Kurt could see the hurt in Adam's eyes. "Why won't you kiss me?" Kurt couldn't look into those eyes. He couldn't hurt Adam.
Blaine almost cried in relief as he reached Kurt's building. He shoved money into the cabbie's hand and jumped out of the cab. He ran up the stairs, not bothering to take the elevator. He had to get to Kurt now, no matter what.
Kurt got up and walked to the front door. "Adam, I think you should just leave."
"Kurt, please. Tell me why you won't kiss me. You like me, don't you? So why shouldn't we kiss?" Kurt was a mess right now and the last thing he needed was for Adam to know the truth.
"Please, Adam." Kurt begged, trying to get him to leave.
Adam looked at Kurt and said, "I won't leave until you tell me why you won't kiss me." Kurt felt all his emotions roar through his body and he opened his mouth to yell out what he's been feeling all night.
Blaine reached Kurt's floor and was about to reach his door when he heard Kurt yell, "BECAUSE I'M IN LOVE WITH BLAINE!" Blaine was taken aback. Wait, what? Kurt loved him? Kurt was okay? Who the hell was he yelling at? Blaine took out his phone and looked at the text that took him from Ohio to here.
From Santana:
Hobbit, you need to get your sweet ass here. Kurt really needs you, desperately. I fear for him. So get your midget-self on the next flight out.
