Author's Notes: Wanring for a tiny amount of child abuse, lots of angsty Blaine, and sort of not really gender bent Kurt. (Cross-dressing Kurt would be accurate).I also do not own Glee.

Chapter 1: Blaine

Blaine Anderson knew something wasn't right with him. He knew it the moment his mother was teaching him what kind of woman he had to look for, what kind of genetics he would need to produce children.

He had been confused them, not understanding why he needed to find a woman at all. A man would do just fine for him thank you. When he voiced this to his mother, she froze. Blaine looked up at her, his wide eyes full of innocence that all ten year olds should carry.

That was the first time his mother smacked him.

They both cried after. Blaine didn't understand what he did wrong, just cried and cried while his mother begged him to never think those thoughts again. Blaine didn't know what to do, so he nodded.

Two years later found a twelve year old Blaine sitting in between both of his parents, hair gelled down and bowtie perfect, answering the question the matchmaker was asking.

Now, she wasn't a real matchmaker. That was simply the title bestowed to her rank. They were members of the military who would go to every household when the child was twelve years old, and based on their genetics and personality, determine which field they would go into and what town they would be shipped off to.

There were three major cities in their land. Mckinley, Dalton, and Caramel. At the age of twelve, all children were shipped off to one of the three to learn their profession under a mentor who would be their guardian as well. At age fifteen, all the men were given a list of eligible young woman in their own and all major cities that met their genetic and personality standards. They were supposed to choose from one of these woman who their future bride would be. After a courting and the matchmaker's approval, they would be married at eighteen and expected to be expecting by the husband's nineteenth birthday.

Blaine was not looking forward to that part.

The matchmaker slapped a folder onto the table, grinning down at Blaine. He gupled, taking the folder.

He was to be sent to Dalton, training as a healer, under the watch of a man named Carl.

0-0-0

Three years later found fifteen year old Blaine on his way to Mckinley with a few friend he had made Dalton, the list of the woman fresh in their hands. Blaine hadn't shown anyone his yet. The others were boasting at all their options, their lists the standard fifteen names most men got.

Blaine's list only had eight names on it.

He tried not to let it get him down, knowing some of the other boys shared his names. He had memorized the names already, knowing that a Tina Cohen-Chang was his first meeting of the night.

The car stopped outside a diner, dropping the boys off. As standard, the first meetings were always public, usually crowded, to make sure nothing inappropriate took place.

Blaine sighed, seriously debating about not getting out. But he was a gentleman, and gentleman never lets a lady down. He got out of his seat, opened the door, and ...tripped out the door.

Groaning he got up, looking around quickly to see if anyone noticed. A soft laugh from his left told him someone had. He looked to the side.

Fantastic. A gorgeous woman witnessed his humiliation. However, judging from her slim figure, straight long soft brown hair, pale skin, bluish looking eyes, and the fact she was a good five inches taller than him, there was no way she was on his list.

"Sorry, are you alright?" Damn. Her voice was even beautiful.

Blaine blushed, looking down.

"Yeah. I'm fine. Thanks for not laughing to loudly." He responded, smiling a bit.

"I shouldn't have laughed at all. Are you here for the meeting?"

"Yeah. You?"

"I'm supposed to be. However, it would look like the only person I'd be interested in meeting doesn't have me on their list." She said, her tone flirty, and a little shy. Blaine only blushed more.

"His loss." Blaine had no idea where this flirty tone was coming from. It was his first real contact with the opposite sex, and all he knew was he needed to keep that smile on her face.

He dared to look up at her. She was nibbling on her bottom lip, a faint pink tinting her cheeks. She was twirling a pen between her fingers and a piece of paper in her other hand.

He narrowed in on the paper, his eyes widening. It was his list. His eight name long pathetic list. It must have fallen out when he tripped. Before he could react, the woman walked over to him, placing the paper on his back and leaning slightly against him as she wrote something.

Blaine froze.

She was done quickly, pulling back and waving the list in front of him. He grabbed it quickly.

"Maybe not." She said, before turning around and walking away from the diner.

"But...the meet?" He called after her. He only got a small wave in response.

He stared after her a bit before looking at the paper.

There, written under the name Santana Lopez in beautiful script was the name:

Elizabeth Colfer
