It was only the second time he'd been to the commons, however it was the fourth time that they had gathered around two cups.
"You like coffee?" Considering the nature of their relationship, friends who met frequently at a coffee shop, Kurt gave his undivided attention to the boy standing opposite him. Despite peeling back the foil on the new coffee jar with gentle fingers, Blaine unceremoniously shoved the container under Kurt's nose. "Smell this."
Kurt raised an eyebrow in question at his new found friend yet inhaled deeply anyway. The aroma of the roasted beans warmed the inside of his nose, tickling his sense of smell in a way that only coffee could. He exhaled a sigh of contentment and smiled, Blaine took back the jar and took in his own breath of coffee. "You can taste it," he mused, "just in its aroma. That's what I love about good coffee. It's an overload for all your senses." Returning to the coffee maker, he poured in some of the beans and flicked the switch on. The soft whirring of the machine stirred the comfortable silence. With two cups of coffee in his hands, he made his way back to the couch. Grinning, he offered a cup to Kurt, the taller boy sniggered "Service with a smile." Blaine flopped down onto the couch and took a sip from his own cup. "Only the best for our guest."
It was quarter to five on a lazy Wednesday afternoon and the heavy scent of Brazilian roast sank into his skin.
